Work Placements
We are always looking for schools to offer placements to our students studying parttime and distance-learning qualifications in teaching & education. As well as ensuring a supply of skilled and qualified candidates for your roles, a placement can provide valuable additional resource in the classroom at no cost. We also source placements in early years and business studies.
• Day-release and full-time college options for those in Year 10 and 11 who could benefit from an alternative learning environment.
• Saturday Academies: Four-session taster courses in a range of subjects for students in year 9-11.
• Nescot offers a wide range of vocational courses for students aged 16-19 covering most sectors/ subject areas. From September 2024 we will introduce T Levels. Our School Liaison Team are happy to provide information to your students through Careers Fairs, Progression Talks, Taster Days, Open Days or bespoke events. These take place at your school, virtually or at Nescot.
Through our specialist SEN provision, we are well placed to help support the transition of learners with additional needs of EHCPholders into post-16 education.
• Nescot works with dozens of employers, including in the education sector, to deliver apprenticeships in administration, IT, construction, science, marketing, health and early years.
• Apprenticeships may also be a valuable option for training and progressing your staff and where needed spending your levy. Our offer includes the Level 5 Department Manager Apprenticeship.
• Nescot offers a local progression route into HE for young people and adults returning to study. We run a wide variety of degree-level courses and higher apprenticeships, in sectors including teaching and creative industries. Provision also includes regional specialisms in counselling, healthcare, animal management, ecology and osteopathy.
• Nescot is a partner in the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology, alongside the universities of Brighton and Sussex and major employers including Gatwick Airport, NatWest, Roche, Irwin Mitchell.
• Nescot offers degree apprenticeships in Laboratory Science (working with the Animal & Plant Health Agency) and Cyber Security.
