This two-stage regulator was designed to keep the outlet pressure of a gaseous medium constant in the main and independent of disturbing influences like inlet pressure or flowrate changes. Due to the intermediate pressure unit integrated into this spring-loaded regulator the negative influence of inlet pressure changes upon the regulating accuracy is reduced to a negligible minimum and practically excluded.

The regulator assembly consists of a intermediate pressure unit and an outlet pressure control unit. The pressures to be monitored for operation (intermediate pressure, outlet pressure) can be read from gauges. As the measuring point of the outlet pressure is situated within

the regulator, it is not necessary to provide for connecting a separate measuring line. We recommend, however, to mount the fine-mesh filter RMG 905 into the inlet line, in order to protect the regulator from contamination.

The outlet pressure to be controlled is taken by the diaphragm sensing system and compared to the setpoint value given by the setpoint spring. Any control deviation resulting from this comparison is followed by a corresponding (proportional) change of the valve position thus causing a change of flowrate and restoring the outlet pressure to the setpoint. The regulator gives tight shut-off on zero flow.
