Money matters Tuition Fees do not have to be paid ‘up front’. All students are eligible to take out a student loan to cover the whole tuition course fee over the duration of your course
The Government Student Loans Company, Student Finance England, facilitates the allocation and repayment of loans to Higher Education students in the UK. There are a few financial packages available that could help you pay for the costs of studying: Tuition Fee Loan Covers the full cost of tuition fees over the duration of your course. Your fees are paid directly from Student Finance England to us, so no need to worry about paperwork or paying fees on time! Maintenance Loan A loan to help with living costs. Students from lower income households may be eligible for more. Maintenance Grant A grant of to £3,250 per year available to lower income households. This is free money that you do not have to pay back. If your household income is under £25,000 you will get the full grant. Households with incomes between £25,000 and £42,500 will get a proportion of the grant.

Additional Support You could be eligible for more financial support if you have a disability or learning difficulty or if you have adults or children who are dependent on you. Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) Local Education Authorities (LEAs) can award DSAs to part-time and full-time undergraduate students who can show that they have a disability, mental health conditions or specific learning difficulty which affects their ability to study. The DSA help pay for any extra costs you have to pay as a direct result of your learning disability or learning difficulty. The allowance can help with the cost of a non-medical personal helper, items of specialist equipment, travel and other courserelated costs. Tuition Fees For UK and EU students applying for a full-time higher education course at New College Stamford starting in September 2012, the tuition fee will be £5,999 per annum. Aim This one year full-time course provides a broad introduction to art and design, preparing you for application to higher education courses and help with your future career aspirations. Content The programme is characterised by experimental and experiential learning. This course is enriched with a variety of project linked visits, including a 5-day residential in a European city. Additionally, a comprehensive liberal studies programme with visiting speakers from a wide range of professional backgrounds ensures that students become aware of the demands of art and design and recognise the common principles and distinctive characteristics of subject disciplines. A high value is placed on independent research and self motivated study.
The programme allows students to take ideas and explore the possibilities through a range of visual and craft processes. As the course progresses, study becomes more focused within the student's specialist area of choice. Specialisms include; visual studies, 3D studies, graphics, illustration, spatial design, printmaking, photography, film, fashion and textiles.

Foundation Degree in Applied Studies (Early Childhood) This course is validated by Bishop Grosseteste University College (BGUC), Lincoln. Course Code: FNECHAP Entry requirements You will normally have a relevant qualification at level three, for example A level in Psychology or Sociology, BTEC Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development, or Health and Social Care.
Aim This 2 year, one afternoon and evening each week, course is intended for adults working, volunteering or leading within children's services across a range of settings and provisions. This work based course combines practice based learning and campusbased sessions once a week so that you are able to continue in employment. It is designed to improve and develop your personal and professional communication skills, to develop knowledge of new ways of working and to challenge existing assumptions. Content The course is organised into two levels, each comprising four modules to be completed over two years. Each module is awarded 30 credits. You will examine principles of learning as an introduction to higher education and investigate the complex relationships affecting learning. You will consider the philosophies underpinning current UK practice within a legislative framework and examine the psychological and sociological theories which impact on this within a relative context.

During the second year you will explore the ideology underpinning inclusive education and practice and undertake an action research project. You will also consider the diverse ways children learn both formally and informally. You will also address issues relating to children's rights and supporting families. This Early Childhood course has been fully recognised by the CWDC as appropriate for early years practitioners. Assessment A variety of assessment methods are used including group and individual presentations, written assignments such as essays and reports, case studies, discussions, debate, portfolios of workbased learning and examination.
You will also have a minimum of one years experience (two years is desirable) in a voluntary or paid role working with children. You must also have a current CRB (Enhanced Disclosure) or ISA registration. Career opportunities Foundation Degree graduates frequently take on higher level of roles specialising in areas such as family liaison, special education needs, managing settings in early years or roles in the wider community and with local authorities. The programme has evolved to respond to the demand for graduate professionals set by the Government through the professionalisation of the children's and youth workforce (DCSF 2008). Many Foundation Degree graduates advance to complete the honours degree at BGUC which allows you to study and continue to work.
Foundation Degree in Applied Studies (Learning Support) This course is validated by Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln Course Code: FNLSUAP Aim This programme aims to develop your skills and understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant working in foundation and primary settings. It is a way to begin study which can lead to Qualified Teacher Status. Content This is a two year course. Attendance is one afternoon and evening each week. Year one • Tools for Learning • Philosophies, Policy and Provision • The Individual in Society • Collaborative Practice Year two • Inclusiveness • Action Research • Supporting the Curriculum (Learning Support Pathway) • Assessment and Learning (Learning Support Pathway) Assessment Modules are assessed through a range of tasks including short portfolio tasks, essay, presentations, discussions and an exam.
Entry requirements Evidence of prior learning and qualifications, usually at least 5 GCSEs (including English Language, Mathematics and Science) at Grade C or above (or equivalents) but also includes: • NVQs at Level 3 or A levels or • BTEC Extended Diplomas or • Access Programmes or • Open College Network credits You should have experience as a Teaching Assistant and the support of your school. Relevant prior learning and experience will be taken into consideration and, where appropriate, given accreditation.
Career opportunities Successful completion of the course will allow you to develop a career in education as a Teaching Assistant or progress onto further Higher Education study. This course also serves as a basis for progression on to honours degrees at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln. Additional information The flexible structure of the Foundation Degree is designed to include workbased learning so that you are able to continue in employment through the course. The course is designed and delivered by Graphic Designers to fully prepare you for the needs of this exciting industry. Content Our two year full time Graphic Design programme involves a dynamic mix of ideas, professional practice, digital, print, moving image and theory. The programme has a strong commercial work related focus and prepares students for the broad range of demands that the industry requires. The student experience is broadened by the use of guest speakers, live projects and residential visits to Europe. Students also have the opportunity to compete with other students around the world in a range of competitions and exhibitions both locally and in London.

Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care This course is validated by The University of Northampton Course Code: FNHSCAP Aim This Foundation Degree is a 3 year part time course and will allow you to gain the knowledge you need to understand how the modern health and social care service works. It will allow you to gain individual research skills and independence as well as providing you with a range of professional skills you will need to gain employment or to assist your further professional career development. Entry requirements Entry onto the programme will typically require Level 3 study such as A Level or BTEC Extended Diploma. Career opportunities Successful completion of this programme will allow students to progress onto further study in the 3rd year of the degree at the partner university, or will allow progression into the illustration industry, locally, nationally or internationally.

Aim This two year full time qualification has been designed by industry specialists to meet individual practical, work based needs. It aims to provide opportunities for students to gain industry experience in their specialist area and in other academic and practical areas of the Music Industry. Content (to include assessment methods) Work-Based Learning Modules in the first and second year allow the student to focus on their specialist area. For example • A performing role (session musician, artist, songwriter etc), • A technical role (Sound technician, Recording Engineer, Producer etc) • A business role (A & R, Artist Management). The Personal Professional Development Module looks at the skills and qualities including networking, additional qualifications and personal skills.
Other modules include • Recording Skills, • Composition, • Live Sound, • Sound Creation and Manipulation
Mature students who may not have formal qualifications are encouraged to apply for an interview where they will be considered on their experience, enthusiasm and commitment.
Level 5 (Year two) • Production analysis, • Modern Composition, • Sound for Media, • Individual Project (Dissertation). A portfolio of work will also be required which will focus upon critical analysis, evaluation and reflection and the relationship between theory and practice. Essays will be a common form of assessment as will presentations and practical submissions.

Aim This two year full time course is designed to give students opportunities to develop understanding of sports provision and a deep understanding of sports development. Students will also improve personal and professional communication skills to strengthen inter-agency and multi-disciplinary working, develop knowledge of the growth of new roles and ways of working and to challenge existing assumptions and facilitate stronger leadership, management and supervision of high quality, sustainable provision. Content Students are able to study a wide range of modules including: Year one (Level 4) • Sport in Context • Sport and Leisure Management • Psychology of Individuals and Groups in Sport • Professional Studies of Sport • Concepts of Health • Anatomy and Human Movement

Successful completion of this programme may allow students to progress onto further study in the 3rd year of the degree at the partner university. Possible careers include Sports Development Officer, Lecturer, Sport Scientist (with training), Leisure Management.
Assessment Assessment is undertaken by a variety of practical assignments and projects along with portfolio building, exams and reports.
Extra information Students will complete work experience modules in both years. Students who already have a paying work placement in a suitable sports position will be able to use that position for the research for two modules. Those students who do not have an existing work placement (sports related) will need to secure one to complete the two modules.

Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) This course is validated by Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln Course Code: DPTLLAP Aim The course will develop the appropriate knowledge, skills and core values consistent with national standards for teaching and supporting learning. Content Modules of study are: • Preparing to teach • Planning and enabling learning • Enabling learning and assessment • Managing behaviour • Curriculum planning • Action research project • Continuing professional development/quality improvement Assessment Assessment will be by means of a portfolio of written evidence, case studies and critical analyses of the processes in teaching and learning. Practical teaching will be assessed by regular observations in the candidate’s work place. Duration A two year part-time course for those employed in a full teaching role for a minimum of 150 hours in each of the two years on the course.

Entry requirements All candidates must be suitably qualified in their own subject area, normally to at least FE Level 3 and/or would have substantial industrial experience. Acceptance onto the course is subject to an interview with the programme leader. Career opportunities Successful completion will enable registration with the Institute for Learning (IfL) and after a period of successful professional formation, will lead to Qualified Teacher Status – Learning & Skills (QTLS). The programme is endorsed by SVUK (Standards Verification UK) and is recognised as meeting the qualification requirements for those engaged in teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector.
The course will develop the appropriate knowledge, skills and core values consistent with national standards for teaching and supporting learning.
