SET THE STAGE 2016 Encore Society Newsletter
2015-16 HIGHLIGHTS Before we ring in the New Year, we wanted to share a few accomplishments from New Conservatory Theatre Center’s Encore Society. Over the past 12 months, we: Welcomed new member, Matt Vandeberg!
Received bequests from longtime NCTC donors and subscribers Edward & Frances Perry and Gerald Rosenstein. These gifts helped our lobby renovation and boosted our operating funds— we are grateful! Hosted a well-attended informational event on October 27, 2015 in partnership with Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. Presenters included Horizons Foundation Executive Director Roger Doughty, Attorney Eugenia Amador of Amador Law, and Ameriprise Financial Advisor/Associate Vice President James Sams.
35TH ANNIVERSARY In honor of our 35th Anniversary, this season we’ll be sharing stories of the artists, teaching artists, students and parents we’ve met along the way and what NCTC has meant to them.
We’d love to hear from our Encore Society members too! If you have a story, quote or testimonial you’d like to share, please contact Development Director Laura Poppiti at 415.694.6150 or laura@nctcsf.org.

New Conservatory Theatre Center was proud to celebrate its renovated lobby and 35th anniversary in style with The Big Reveal on October 1, 2016. After enjoying champagne and passed hors d’oeuvres in the grand entryway of 25 Van Ness Avenue, guests enjoyed a first-look at the Company’s newly remodeled James L. Coran Lobby, expanded Alvin Baum & Robert Holgate Donor Lounge, and upgraded bar, Mason’s, which is a nod at the Masonic history of 25 Van Ness and an homage to Mason Cartmell, a staunch NCTC supporter and former Encore Society member who passed away last year. In addition to bites and libations sponsored by Cala, Mr. Tipple’s Recording Studio and Minas Brazilian Restaurant & Cachaçaria among others, gala attendees were treated to pop-up performances throughout the evening by local artists Katya Smirnoff-Skyy, Joe Wicht, trixxie carr, Bobby Barnaby, Melissa O’Keefe, and Matt Cannon. Also making the rounds was special guest Maurice Antoinette, (aka NCTC Board member & Gala Committee member Maurice Kelly) who added a touch of glamour and theatricality to this uniquely NCTC event.
