Welcome!!!!!!! Hello and welcome to this issue of Any Craic? A lot has happened since the last time we published with the new Pope Francis (whose election came as a surprise for everyone, considering he’s a Jesuit), both rugby teams being knocked out of respective cups and the antics of Seachtain na Gaeilge. However, not much has changed here at all with Ms Scully still lording over us like the Ceann Comhairle in the Dáil, shouting at people to shut up and trying to make sense of some confusing opinions. This issue is packed with great articles including a hilarious comic strip related to horse meat from Luke Maloney, season reviews for both Cup teams, the sublime interview from SCT captain Brian Hayden and much, much more. The College’s new astro turf pitches appear to be coming together more and more every day. With them expected to be finished on time, I’m sure laughs a-plenty will be had on them. Whether it be in PE or in hockey training first-rate fun will be had by all I’m assured. Well that’s really it from me for this issue. Get stuck in to the magazine and until next time, keep having that bit of banter with the lads or girls. Oisín Ó Cuill

LASTEST MAKE UP TIPS FOR THE LADIES Latest trends Grey: it's the official shade of winter. Grey skies grey sweaters, grey...people. We dig our neutrals as much as city dwellers, but once March hits, you've better believe that we are craving colour in any form we can get our hands on. The tree buds may not have started to bloom yet, but that doesn't mean that you can't start rocking spring-worthy makeup shades in every shade of the rainbow. Inspired by Peter Som's spring '13 show.
1. Start off with a clean face. Make sure that you don’t put makeup right after you wash your face to avoid makeup from seeping into the skin. At least wait for five minutes 2. Use a primer or a moisturizer before putting foundation or makeup. This step helps before applying anything. This is applicable for people with dry to oily skin. Your pores will be minimized, again, preventing makeup to seep in your skin. This also helps you have a fresh finish. 3. Contour your whole face. Contouring helps enhance the natural beauty of the face. Usually, areas such as the temples, under
the cheekbones, under the jaw line, the bridge of the nose, are just few of many areas that need to be contoured to bring out the real beauty in us. 4.
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
Outward appearance will always be a basis of how beautiful a person is but combine it with inner beauty and you will see how pretty a person really is.

Junior Cup 2013 The cup kicked off for Newbridge vs. Wesley College. Unlucky for the Wesley side Newbridge came out to win 48:0. There was some brilliant tries from the Newbridge side while Wesley could never get in. Newbridge then drew St Gerard's in the quarter final. St Gerard's had previously beaten Roscrea 18:12. This was a very tight match and both sides never let in and the final score was 8:8. After this draw there had to be a replay. The replay was held in Donnybrook Stadium. As the day came both teams were determined to get through to the semi-finals. It was a very tight match with both teams only scoring one try each and unfortunate for Newbridge Gerard's were lucky to convert the try which gave them a victory of 7:5. As Newbridge are now knocked out, there was only four teams left which were St. Gerard’s, Blackrock, St. Michael’s and Belvedere. In the next round Gerard's drew Belvedere and Michael's drew Blackrock. Blackrock defeated Michael's 20:3 and Belvedere gave Gerard's a huge defeat with the score of 48:0. So now the only thing to come is the final which includes Blackrock vs. Belvedere. This is going to be a brilliant final with both teams having brilliant wins in the semi finals.
Newbridge College SCT 2012-2013
Newbridge College vs. The Kings Hospital Left-wing Joe Darcy struck for two tries that ultimately sealed the fate of King's Hospital as Newbridge College won this Powerade Leinster Schools Cup first round tie at a windy and wet NUI Maynooth campus. His first try, in the 11th minute, saw Darcy just about made it into the left corner, full-back Chris Healy making up for an earlier missed penalty with a nice touchline conversion. Just as the second half started, Darcy flew outside one defender and inside another on a remarkable solo effort from his own 40m line to make it 12-0. King's Hospital struck back, a clever front-of-the-lineout move culminating in Austrian second row Tassilo Herberstein claiming a try in the right corner, but the Newbridge defence held out and won the match. Final score 12-5 Newbridge College vs. CBC Monkstown Lightning did strike twice through two-try Joe Darcy to see Newbridge become the first semi-finalist in the Powerade Leinster Schools Senior Cup at Donnybrook. It took the trickery and the light touch of outhalf Mark Sutton to turn back a battling Monkstown. CBC started with the right intent, centre Adam Swan coming hard on the inside shoulders to set up a series of rucks which drew a penalty. Scrum-half Ben Mahon split the posts. The pressure on CBC started to tell at the breakdown where they were slow to roll away. Fullback Chris Healy levelled it from a penalty. Monkstown responded well and Swan simply had too much pace for a stretched defence, slipping beyond wing Niall Delahunt's brave tackle to make it 8-3 in the 21st minute. The impressive work of Newbridge openside Oisin McKnight to snatch possession and the in-close handling of forwards Tom Brady and Brian Hayden threatened a strike back and they were only thwarted when Brady's short ball was put to ground with a two-man
overlap one pass away. But they struck quickly for three points one minute into the second half, Healy pounding one over from 40 metres. Flanker Matthew O'Conner held number eight Mark O'Mahony up in the tackle and Brady ripped the ball free for Sutton to trigger his passing game again. CBC was too quick to come up in defence. But Chris smashed his penalty against the left upright. CBC could not exit their half. The black and white were moving into position without having the clinical edge to make it count, twice being turned over five metres out. They just kept cool, closed down the ball for Healy to clutch on the bounce and Darcy to ground for an 11-8 lead in the 53rd minute. Monkstown needed an injection and it came from outhalf Cormac Cullinane, scything over half-way. They just couldn't protect the ball, Hugh O'Donnell trampling over bodies on a breakout. The chance to press looked to have gone. This time they showed the ingenuity, countering well to force a shot to goal for not releasing in the tackle. Mahon equalised from 22 metres. From here, Sutton was given the platform to take over the game, teasing CBC with his passing and running and he was inches from glory in the last minute, referee Dudley Phillips ruling he was held up over the line. It was a mere delay. From a scrum, they moved the ball sweetly along the line for Darcy to claim his second try.
Newbridge College vs. St Michaels Defending champions St Michael’s marched into their third final in four years, setting up a repeat of the 2006 decider. This St Michael’s team is an immense attacking force, gliding away in the opening strides of this game, their talent immediately evident. They looked unstoppable in attack as outhalf Ross Byrne marshalled his troops
well. Mikey O'Hare galloped away for the opening try on seven minutes due to silky hands from Byrne. A flowing attack ended with tighthead prop Denis Coulson slipping a nice pass out for his right winger. Byrne nailed the conversion, and while Newbridge fullback Chris Healy hit back with a penalty. The Irish schools number 10 Byrne directs traffic relentlessly forward, always using time well and picking the right pass to cause the overlap. Their second try came on the 26 minute, scrum half Nick McCarthy feinted to go wide before leaping over near the ruck. Newbridge have been excellent in the cup so far; littered with skilful, albeit lightweight, footballers. Centre Jake Howlett's electric, steppy 50- metre break before half-time kept them in the game. They went to their maul, understandably welldrilled by Aaron Dundon, and prop Jonathan Phelan eventually flopped over the left corner. Healy got the touchline conversion to make it 14-10. But the anvil fell three minutes into the second half as Byrne stepped over for the third try. Ed Wynne's late try, after Matthew Gilsenan was sin-binned and Robbie Mullan's conversion gave Michael’s something to sweat about. But St Michael’s had done enough Newbridge fought valiantly and with 12 players eligible for the tournament next year, keep an eye out for them.
By Olivia Daly Title: “Finding Nemo” Director: Andrew Stanton Starring: Albert Brooks, Ellen Degeneres, Alexander Gould, Willem Dafoe, Brad Garret, Allison Janney, Austin Pendleton, Stephen Root, Vicki Lewis. Studio: Disney Pixar
Release Date: May 30th, 2003. Plot Summary: A clown fish named Marlin who lives in the Great Barrier Reef loses his son Nemo because he ventures into the open sea, despite his father's constant warnings about the ocean's many dangers. Marlin sets out to find his son and has plenty of mishaps and adventures along the way. Review: There is no great mystery about what the Disney formula is: a big budget, scintillating animation and a narrative that is primarily aimed at kids but has features that are designed to appeal to all ages. “Finding Nemo” is no exception to the rule. I watched it for the first time when I was six and I saw it from the perspective of the simple plot and the colourful animation. I watched it again recently and saw a whole new meaning in it. The plot moves at a cracking pace and is full of comedy, surprises and adventure. Much of the humour in the movie is over the heads of the kids which is the main target audience. Disney always ensure that their screenwriters recognize that the parents of the children who their films are aimed at will most probably be watching their movies as well and they make sure that they too will be entertained. It is very easy to see how ninety four million dollars was spent on this movie. The animation is amazingly high tech and the voiceovers are done by excellent actors who inject humour and tension into the film. Filled with action and adventure, “Finding Nemo” is a fantastic film for all the family.
Pope Francis Pope Francis was elected on the 13th of March 2013. Pope benedict XVI officially retired on the 28th of February 2013making him the pope to retire before his death in nearly 600 years. The cardinals decided for Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergolio [Pope Francis] to be the new pope. Since pope Francis is from Argentina this makes him the first Latin American pope and the first Non-European in modern times you might have
realised that pope Francis does not have a numeral after his name like john Paul II or pope benedict XVI this is because he is the first pope Francis ever. He chose the name Francis in honour of St. Francis Assisi, an admirer of nature and a servant to the poor, his name even tells us a lot about him. In many ways pope Francis is just a normal person, he takes public transport instead of private limousines. He also chose to live in an apartment instead of the archbishop’s palace. The new pope seems like he means business. But the only problem is that he is already seventy six so he might not have very long in this position.
