KEW BRIDGE 300 YEARS IN THE MAKING
A LONDON L ANDM ARK Middlesex and Surrey have been linked by a river crossing as long ago as Roman times, but it was not until 1759 that the first Kew Bridge was built. The advantages of a bridge on the main road to Oxford were so great that it was rebuilt in stone in 1789. The area around the bridge became the focus of fashionable West London and its Royal connections were confirmed when the current bridge was opened by King Edward VII in 1903. More than a century later, Kew Bridge is set to become the home of one of London’s most fashionable addresses.
