People have been living and working in Leverstock Green since Roman times and it’s not hard to see the attraction. Although close to a variety of major towns, and a short journey to London, it has a timeless quality with life centred around the village green. Leverstock Green boasts its own 300-strong tennis club, a football and a cricket team. There is a lovely primary school and a parish church, as well as local gastropubs and restaurants offering everything from Thai food to traditional English fayre. Roger Moore lived here in his 1960s heyday and the thriving village has a popular drama society which stages regular plays in the village hall. The town centre in nearby Hemel Hempstead is laid out alongside landscaped gardens and water features known as the Watergardens, designed by GA Jellicoe, who was the best-known English landscape architect of his generation. The town is host to a range of IT companies as well as HSBC’s head office operations, and has a range of well-regarded schools including Lockers Park School.
