Willmott Meadow Wem is a pretty market town, located between Whitchurch and Shrewsbury.

Famous for being the birthplace of the sweet pea, Wem still holds an Annual Sweet Pea Festival and Henry Eckford, inventor of the sweet pea remains a local legend to this day. In fact Miss Willmott, a salmon pink sweet pea and one of Eckford’s creations, inspired the name of the development. Wem has been a market town since 1202 and has a history of being the centre of trade in North Shropshire. Wem Town Hall is a delightful venue with a licenced cafe and wi-fi, and holds many community events such as workshops and exhibitions. Numerous small speciality shops line the central streets of Wem, such as the Treacle Mine, an old-fashioned sweet shop, and a traditional iron mongers.

From Whitchurch town centre head southeast and then follow Bridgewater Street. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Newport Rd (B5395). Continue to follow the B5395 through 2 roundabouts for 1.1 miles. At the next roundabout exit onto Heath Road (A41) for 1.2 miles. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A49 and follow it for 3.9 miles, then turn right onto B5065. After 3.6 miles turn right onto Aston Street (B5063). Go over 1 roundabout and the development will be on your right. From the South (Shrewsbury) Follow A5112 from Shrewsbury. At the first roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Shrewsbury Road (A49).
