St Helens A rich industrial heritage, combined with glorious nearby countryside makes St Helens one of the North West’s most unique towns. Today, St Helens is in the midst of a cultural renaissance, with its own vibrant nightlife, including cinemas, music venues, bars and restaurants. Modern living… Though St Helens developed thriving coal, chemical and copper smelting industries, it was for its glass manufacturing that it established an international reputation, when Pilkington Brothers invented the Float Glass process.
