he market for naturally positioned personal care products continue to grow at a rapid pace. It is primarily driven by ingredient trends, product efficacy and brand ethics from the perspective of consumers.

Yet the industry drivers are far more complex. These include recognised certifications and compliant labelling, traceability, sustainability, testing, safety parameters and the use of ecofriendly or recyclable packaging.

Coschem’s natural and organic seminar sought to bring attendees up to speed on these pressing developments within the global personal care industry.

GIZ consultant in South Africa, Cyril Lombard discussed how government and international development agencies like GIZ are supporting biotrade and the local indigenous plants sector to overcome regulatory hurdles. This includes closing gaps in a coherent and professional way, to create sustainable jobs.

Will Coetsee shared a first hand account of the certification process, covering the ins and outs of natural and organic certifications which are applicable to suppliers and brand owners or manufacturers.
