FREDERIKSBERGGGADE runs right through the heart of Copenhagen as the city’s innovative vein: It was here the hippies met. Here the punks hung out. And here Danish hip hop originated. And now we are reviving the important and playful FREDERIKSBERGGADE with beautiful new paving, new inviting break areas, new lighting, new shop and restaurant concepts and new art installations. In short: A new and vibrant version of FREDERIKSBERGGADE is re-emerging.

They are outgoing, optimistic and self-aware world citizens who – especially the young – are constantly online and sharing their lives on social media. COPENHAGEN MUNICIPALITY MODERNIZES FREDERIKSBERGGADE
The City of Copenhagen has allocated DKK 8 million for an upgrade of Frederiksberggade’s paving, etc. The association has partnered with Creator Projects to create a permanent artwork that is expected to be integrated into the upgrade. The current classic “Copenhagen pavement” will be transformed to create a holistic change that permeates the entire stretch and brings new meaning to the experience of Frederiksberggade. Construction work is expected to begin in 2025.
BID – BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
The association BID Frederiksberggade (Business Improvement District) was founded in 2019 and is an association of the street’s property owners. The purpose of the association is to develop and improve FREDERIKSBERGGADE. The association has defined a vision and strategy for the street’s development, which includes initiatives such as art, events and new exciting concepts in the street in the coming years. An upgrade of the street is at the top of the priority list, and since 2023 the association has been working hard on this project, which will transform and bring new life to the attractive shopping street. In December 2021, the association installed people counters that clearly show that FREDERIKSBERGGADE is still one of the busiest streets in Copenhagen.
