WHAT’S WADDLING DIVISION 19 NORTH, With Summer Vacation finally coming to an end, I would like to welcome the new school year with positive vibes and wish everyone the best first day/week/month of school! Summer, at least for myself, went by too fast, but I gladly accept the return of school. I encourage all of you to meet new people, reconnect with past friends, and continue to exemplify the 4 Core Values of Cal-Nev-Ha District Key Club: Leadership, Inclusiveness, Character Building, and Caring. Since my installment in April, I have witnessed countless members and officers demonstrate the best qualities of a person through service or other means. With that being said, I hope that every single one of you continues to promote Key Club as a whole. Be involved with Club Rush, wear spirit gear, or simply share what made you want to join and stay in this incredible organization. More dues-paid members allows for the growth of our Division 19 North Ohana, growth I would love to facilitate. I would now like to thank everyone that attended our 2nd Annual Region 8 Olympics! Despite some conflicts the day of the event, the Region 8 Lieutenant Governors tried our absolute best to make the most out of what we were given, and hopefully you all enjoyed the games as much as we did! For those that were not able to make Region Olympics and July DCM at South Gate Park, members formed teams to compete in various activities and finished off with a refreshing water balloon fight. However, my personal favorite part was witnessing Leuzinger Key Club at their first Division Council Meeting of the term! I look forward to seeing their club become more involved with our Pirate Penguin Ohana. To finish, it is time for updates! As of August 10th, Division 19 North has served 1,297 service hours out of our NEW goal of 8,000 service hours! This is an amazing achievement for a relatively small division in CNH. Division 19 North has also raised $522.48 for preferred charities out of our NEW goal of $3,000! Quite literally, all of you are saving lives by participating in Division Fundraisers for the Pediatric Trauma Program, so I expect to see more and more supporters throughout the Division! Speaking of fundraisers, I hope to see all of you showing our Division 19 North Pirate Penguin stickers at our first Division Ice Skating Fundraiser of the term at the El Segundo Toyota Sports Center on Sunday, August 25th from 1:00PM to 3:00PM! Division 19 North always finds some way to amaze every single month. Keep up this fantastic effort now that school is back in session!

On Saturday, July 27th, Key Clubbers from five divisions gathered at South Gate Park for the 2nd annual Region 8 Olympics! They were able to bond with each other by participating in a service project and competing in a variety of outdoor games! Region 8 is comprised of the Pirate Penguins from our division, the Beastie Bunnies from 19 South, the Green Monkeys from 13 North, the Ninjas from 13 South and the Hedgehogs from 13 West!

This event was a huge success with our division holding the third largest amount of attendees! We realize that the location of the event may have been far for a number of you, so we thank you all for coming out despite the distance. Hopefully, you all had an amazing experience with your fellow Key Clubbers from Region 8!

Attending Region 8 Olympics was a highlight for my final year in Key Club and truly a great experience that I would totally do again. It was amazing to be united with our Region 8 Ohana for the first time in awhile due to our region being pretty spread out, and I am happy to say that I got to meet many people. It’s a beautiful sight to see a bunch of teens bond over their love for service. If you can attend, I would definitely recommend it. You won’t regret it!

PB Science Service Squad Shannon Sukantri Lawndale | President On July 6, we volunteered at the PB Science Headquarters in Inglewood and created science kits for elementary schools! There were groups of volunteers that either cut materials, packed, or taped the boxes. President Shannon Sukantri and Sophia Urban were helping each other tape the kits and stacked them into pile. We recognized a few people that volunteered last time and had the chance to talk to them. Also, we talked with new volunteers and got to know them better. At the end of the service event, we packed 110 science kits. Then, we helped clean up and said goodbye to the volunteers that we talked with. We had fun and can't wait to volunteer there again next month!

EVENT RECAP EVENT RECAP EVENT RECAP Dog Adoption Jhazymn Marinas Hawthorne | Historian A few of our members went to this event and helped take care of the dogs that were waiting to get adopted. They also played with the dogs and set up the event. This event was on a Saturday, July 20th, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
CAMS | Bulletin Editor
On July 26th and 27th, CAMS Key Club members volunteered at Wilson Park to assist the staff of Shakespeare by the Sea with their live performance. The event started at 5:00PM and ended at 10:00PM. At the beginning of the event, we helped set up concession stands, merchandise booths, and light stands. Before the performance started, volunteers were instructed to pass out surveys to the audience and collect them once they were filled out. After surveys were collected, we imputed them into a Google Form. We also sold programs and raffles to the audience. At the end of the event, we helped the staff take down the booths. Overall, the event was a success!

Heyo Pirate Penguins! With summer quickly coming to an end, don't miss out on an iCY opportunity to hang out with fellow penguins & family (and raise some money for PTP)! On Sunday, August 25th, Division 19 North will be hosting an ice skating fundraiser at the El Segundo Toyota Center from 1 to 3 PM. Tickets will be $12 each and distributed at the August DCM. For the month of July, CAMS Key Club held several service events. The first service event was Mud Mania (chaired by Co-Webmaster Akhil Atluri) on July 14th where volunteers helped setup and breakdown the event and run stations. On July 20th, Marina Anglo chaired the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve Restoration event where volunteers pulled weeds that were on the pathways in the preserve. Finally, Julie Mai (Bulletin Editor) chaired a two day event called Shakespeare at the Sea on July 26th and 27th where volunteers helped setup and breakdown, sell programs, and pass out surveys. Several CAMS Key Club board members also attended Summer Board Training Conference to learn even more about their positions. On July 27th, we attended the Region 8 Olympics/July DCM where members bonded with other divisions in Region 8 and played fun games!

The month of July was exciting for Da Vinci’s Key Club! We’ve had multiple events that express how accountable our club is to Kiwanis and it was fun for everyone. On July 4th, 5 members helped at our sponsoring Kiwanis’ Pie Eating Contest. They set up the booth, set up tables for the contest, cut the pies and displayed them, as well as judging the contest. In addition, on July 20th, 5 members attended the division dog adoption event where they helped set up areas for the dogs to play, setting up tables, as well as walking and socializing with the dogs. Our members enjoyed getting to help dogs find future homes and meet members from throughout the Division. Also, on July 27th our president attended Region 8 Olympics where she got to meet other officers and members from different areas throughout Southern California, and make cranes to decorate hospitalized patients’ room! This really made her stand out to how kind she is to others. Finally, we are super excited to start off the new school year and see what potential our new members have. We’re always looking forward to new events!

Greetings! For the month of July, HMSA Key Club took part in a total of 6 events. First, we held our officer board meeting. Luckily, all of our officers were able to assist, including some of our original members from the previous board, and we were able to brainstorm ideas for our club rush, such as the green screen for our video intro, designs for spirit posters, spirit stick ideas, and we brought a laptop to work on our Wix website that is going to be posted in August. There was also a Dog Adoption volunteer event, where two members and some officers were able to assist. In addition, almost all of our officers were able to assist the mandatory Summer Board Training Conference. It helped all of our officers get insight on what is expected from all officers, including the need of teamwork, events, club rush, and how to reach out for fundraisers, and Fall Rally. Moreover, we had our second officer meeting at Del Aire Park, where we started shooting for our video for club rush. And of course, the Region 8 Olympics was a BLAST, and gladly most of all of our officers were able to go, and just have a great time, demonstrating their Key Club spirit! That being mentioned, our Youtube Channel for HMSA KeyClub was posted on July 10, so please go to our page and like and subscribe to our recent uploaded videos. So far, we are looking forward to our future events, and we are preparing for another successful school year!
LAWNDALE
13 | CLUB RECAP

For Lawndale Key Club, we had 3 events and 3 board meetings that happened this month. On July 6 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, we volunteered at PB Science in Inglewood where we packed hands-on science lesson materials for elementary schools around the area. We had a board meeting on July 9th, to discuss upcoming events during the month of July. On July 13 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, we had the One on One Outreach event where we packed and delivered boxes of food and clothing to families door-to door that live near the neighborhood. We had another board meeting on July 17th, where we discuss with a Lawndale community advisor and Circle K about an upcoming service project happening in a few months. On July 29th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, we helped pack bags of food and socks for the homeless at the Under the Bridge and on the Streets event. Lastly, on July 30th, we had a board meeting to discuss upcoming events in August and possible fundraising ideas.

For the month of July, Hawthorne High Key club attended 2 events. The first was an adoption event for dogs held on the 20th . There we helped set up the pens for the dogs to relax in while people could look and choose which dog they liked. We would take them on walks to the small dog park to tire them a little as to avoid any rowdiness. we would also play with the dogs to show them off and then helped clean up after it was over. The second event we attended was the region 8 Olympics held on the 27th. There we overall had a fun time after having our monthly dcm. We played games such as capture the flag and had a relay race and other games. We then had a water balloon fight to cool ourselves down on a hot summer day.Â

Ahoy Pirate Penguins! For the month of July, Gardena Key Club has had a couple of events. Our members attended the Dog Adoption Event that was a division hosted service event on July 20th. Members helped set up the event and took care of the dogs that were up for adoption. Additionally there was also the Region 8 Olympics/July DCM on July 27th. During the Region 8 Olympics members had a chance to bond with different people from Region 8 and helped create paper cranes as a service project. On that same day, there was a service event called Concert in the Lawn where members helped set up the event and serve free ice cream at Nakaoka Community Center. We ended the month by having our board meeting on July 31st to recap the month and plan start planning the beginning of our school year. Â

The very first event I attended was the
August Beach DCM in my freshman year. Everyone at the event was super friendly and really made me feel like I was a part of Key Club. The thing that makes Key Club so great is that everyone is so welcoming. Through Key Club I have made many great connections with people that I wouldn’t have without Key Club. Key Club has helped me gain more that just a love for service, it has given me an ohana.
