EDITOR’S note

HAPPY NEW YEAR PENGUINS!

With every new year, comes a new chance to make resolutions for yourself! As we approach mid January, I hope you all have been able to establish the goals that you want to achieve throughout the year. Take some time to reflect and see how you can grow to be the best version of yourself. Search for new opportunities where you can branch out and discover something new. Through this, I know that you all will be able to become a better friend, family member, and leader to those around you! Nearing the end of this month also means that most college applications have been due! Congratulations to all the seniors who have finished with their apps and I wish you all the best of luck for all your results! It’s crazy to think that it has almost been one year since this pandemic started, but I hope you all have continued to stay safe and healthy during this time. Remember to always check up on your friends and family and cherish every moment you spend with them. Thank you for reading this month’s newsletter! I hope you all enjoyed reading it. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Good luck and stay ICY.

WITH GRATITUDE, Julie Mai Division Newsletter Editor

LTG’S LETTER What’s Waddlin’ Pirate Penguins! I hope everyone has had a fantastic month and have enjoyed the fulfilling and exciting events. There were many incredible and memorable events this year, but this past month had the most important regarding Division 19 North’s future. We have witnessed the installation and retirement of a Lieutenant Governor for decades now and it is almost time for me to say goodbye. This is not my farewell letter yet, so I’ll skip the sad part. Please welcome the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor Elect, Angela Francisco from CAMS Key Club. Please welcome her and don’t forget to talk to her whenever you need help or have questions. She will be helping me with organizing and hosting events so you might see her around a lot. This month has been a blast. Not because I discovered Chipotle and have been eating it nonstop, but because I’ve been watching everyone grow and get ready for a new year with more events and more opportunities. Thank you and I can’t wait to see you next month!

Sincerely, Ryan Son D19N Lieutenant Governor 4

JANUARY DCM

recaps EVENT

6

SALLY HOANG| CAMS CO-VICE PRESIDENT

What’s waddling penguins? In the month of January, CAMS Key Club attended the January DCM. At the start of the meeting, Ltg Ryan Son gave division and district updates on Spring Rally South, news about merchandise, and updates on the joint Division 19 Conclave. After, every club read out their monthly recaps and at the end of the DCM, we received media reminders. Overall, our members had a fun time!

D19 JOINT CONCLAVE

CHARLES NGUYEN| LEUZINGER PRESIDENT

In the month of January, our club attended conclave, which consisted of both Division 19 North and South. There were two candidates per division and all four candidates gave wonderful and passionate speeches. Our division went first, and after the speeches, the delegates in our division voted on which candidate they thought would best suit the position of Lieutenant Governor. After the votes, both the members and the delegates were able to watch the same process with D19 South and. It was a fun experience, and I can’t wait to see their contributions to both the divisions!

Congratulations to Angela Francisco on becoming the next LTG for the 20212022 term! We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish next term! 7
