พระบรมมหาราชวัง Every visitor to Bangkok should see the magnificent buildings within the Grand Palace compound to get a feeling of the grandeur architectural style.Since the founding of Bangkok as the Nations capital by King Rama I, The Grand Palace has been the major architectural symbol of The Thai Royal Family. In the present time, The Royal Family resides at Chitralada Palace while The Grand Palace is used for ceremonial purposes.The main buildings within the Grand Palace compound were built for King Rama V, who was the first Thai King to travel to Europe.Phra Thinang Chakri Maha Prasat, built in 1877 by King Rama V as his Royal Residence, is the most highly recognized architectural landmark of the Nation. The central Throne Hall, which was formerly used for the reception of foreign envoys, is flanked by reception areas decorated with galleries of portraiture. The central room on the second floor is used as a shrine for the reliquary ashes of Kings Rama IV, Rama V, Rama VI, Rama VII and Rama VIII.Borom

Phiman Mansion was also constructed during the reign of King Rama V. When his son, King Rama VI ascended to the throne, he had it improved for use as his residence. The three succeeding Kings also resided here at one time or another.The Siwalai Gardens, where the office of The Royal Household Bureau is located, were used for receptions as well as a recreation area for the royal women and children.Maha Monthien Prasat houses The Audience Hall of Amarin Winitchai where ceremonies of the Court usually take place in front of the throne surmounted by its canopy of nine tiers of white cloth. It is a short walk from the pier to the entrance to The Grand Palace public entrance.Opening Hours: Open to the public everyday, except during special Royal Ceremonies, from 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Admission Fee:

Thus the following dress - code (applicable to both ladies and gentlemen) is requested: 1. Shorts, mini-skirts, short skirts, tight fitting trousers, as well as tights can not be worn as outer garments. 2. See-through shirts and blouses, as well as culottes or quarter length trousers can not be worn. 3. Sleeveless shirts or vests can not be worn as outer garments. 4. Sandals (without ankle or heel straps) can not be worn. 5. All shirt sleeves, whether long or short, can not be rolled up. 6. Sweat shirts and sweat pants, wind-cheaters, pajamas and fisherman trousers can not be worn.

พระบรมมหาราชวัง

พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช ทรงสร้างขึ้นพร้อมสถาปนากรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ เมื่อแรกสร้างประกอบด้วย 3 ส่วนคือ พระมหา ปราสาท พระราชมณเฑียรสถาน และวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม มีเนื้อที่ 132 ไร่ ในอดีตพระบรมมหาราชวังเป็นที่ประทับของพระมหากษัตริย์ ลักษณะ แบบแผนการก่อสร้างคล้ายคลึงกับพระบรมมหาราชวังเก่าในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาคือ มีวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดารามอยู่ในบริเวณวังเหมือนกับวัดพระศรีสรร เพชญ์ในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา ต่อมาในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 4 และรัชกาลที่ 5 เริ่มรับอิทธิพลจากตะวันตกท�ำให้สถาปัตยกรรมมีลักษณะผสมผสานกับทางตะวันตก มากขึ้น หมู่พระที่นั่งที่ส�ำคัญมีดังนี้คือ พระที่นั่งดุสิตมหาปราสาท เดิมชื่อพระที่นั่งอินทราภิเษกมหาปราสาท เป็นพระมหาปราสาทองค์แรกที่สร้างขึ้นในพระราชวัง เป็นที่ประดิษฐาน พระบรมศพพระมหากษัตริย์ สมเด็จพระอัครมเหสี และพระบรมวงศานุวงศ์ใช้ประกอบพระราชพิธีส�ำคัญ เช่น พระราชพิธีการมงคลและบ�ำเพ็ญพระราช กุศลต่าง ๆ พระที่นั่งอาภรณ์พิโมกข์ปราสาท อยู่ใกล้กับพระที่นั่งดุสิตมหาปราสาทใช้เป็นที่ประทับทรงพระราชพาหนะ และประทับเปลื้องเครื่องในงานพระ ราชพิธีที่มีขบวนแห่ พระที่นั่งพิมานรัตยา สร้างเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2332 ในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงใช้เป็นที่บรรทม และทรงใช้เป็นที่ชุมนุมมหา สมาคมส�ำหรับพระบรมวงศานุวงศ์ และข้าราชบริพารฝ่ายในเข้ารับพระราชทานเครื่องอิสริยยศ และเครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์ และนอกจากนั้นยังเป็นที่สรงน�้ำ พระบรมศพพระบรมวงศานุวงศ์ก่อนที่จะประดิษฐานพระบรมโกศในพระที่นั่งดุสิตมหาปราสาท พระที่นั่งจักรีมหาปราสาท สร้างในสมัยรัชกาลพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2419 ใช้เป็นที่รับรองพระราชอาคันตุกะชั้น พระราชาธิบดี หรือชั้นประมุขของรัฐ นอกจากนี้ยังมีหมู่พระที่นั่งส�ำคัญอื่น ๆ เช่น พระที่นั่งราชกรัณยสภา พระที่นั่งมูลสถานบรมอาสน์ พระที่นั่งบรมราช สถิตย์มโหฬาร พระที่นั่งจักรพรรดิพิมาน พระที่นั่งไพศาลทักษิณ ฯลฯ วัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม หรือ วัดพระแก้ว เป็นพระอารามหลวง ตั้งอยู่ตรงมุมด้านตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของพระบรมมหาราชวัง เป็นที่ประดิษฐาน พระมหามณีรัตนปฏิมากร (พระแก้วมรกต) และใช้เป็นที่ประกอบพระราชพิธีทางศาสนาที่ส�ำคัญ วัดพระแก้วสร้างแล้วเสร็จในปี พ.ศ. 2327 และได้รับการ บูรณะปฏิสังขรณ์มาตั้งแต่สมัยรัชกาลที่ 1-9 ตลอดทุกรัชกาล ภายในพระอุโบสถ และระเบียงรอบวัดมีภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังสวยงามมาก สิ่งที่น่าสนใจอื่น ๆ ภายในวัดได้แก่ พระปรางค์ 8 องค์ พระศรีรัตนเจดีย์ ปราสาทนครวัดจ�ำลอง ปราสาทพระเทพบิดร ฯลฯ ศาลาเครื่องราชอิสริยยศและเหรียญกษาปณ์ ตั้งอยู่ภายในบริเวณพระบรมมหาราชวังด้านขวามือก่อนถึง ทางเข้าพระราชวังส่วนใน จัดแสดง เหรียญกษาปณ์ และเงินตราที่ใช้ในประเทศไทยรวมทั้งเครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์ของส�ำนักฝ่ายใน เปิดให้เข้าชมทุกวัน ตั้งแต่เวลา 08.30–16.00 น. ค่าเข้าชม 10 บาท สอบถามเพิ่มเติมได้ที่ส่วนจัดแสดงโทร. 0 2222 5864 ต่อ 18 เวลาเปิดท�ำการ พระบรมมหาราชวังเปิดให้เข้าชมทุกวัน ตั้งแต่เวลา 08.30-16.00 น. The Wat Phra Kaew (Thai: วัดพระแก้ว, RTGS: Wat Phra Kaeo, Pronunciation, English: Temple of the Emerald Buddha; full official name Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, Thai: วัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple (wat) in Thailand. It is a “potent religio-political symbol and the palladium of Thai society”. It is located in the historic centre of Bangkok (district Phra Nakhon), within the precincts of the Grand Palace. The main building is the central ubosoth, which houses the statue of Emerald Buddha. The legendary history of this Buddha image is traced to India, five centuries after the Lord Buddha attained Nirvana, till it was finally enshrined in Bangkok at the Wat Phra Kaew temple in 1782 during Rama I’s reign (1782?1809). This marked the beginning and raise of the Chakri Dynasty of the present Kingdom of Thailand (the present head of the dynasty is King Rama IX. The Emerald Buddha, a dark green statue, is in a standing form, about 66 centimetres (26 in) tall, carved from a single jade stone (Emerald in

Thai means deep green colour and not the specific stone). It is carved in the meditating posture in the style of the Lanna school of the northern Thailand. Except for the Thai King, no other person is allowed to touch the statue. The King changes the cloak around the statue three times a year, corresponding to the summer, winter, and rainy seasons, an important ritual performed to usher good fortune to the country during each season. While legend traces this statue to India, its rich historical records dates its finding in Cambodia in the 15th century, moved to Laos in the 16th century and then to Vientiane where it remained for 215 years, and finally to Thailand in the 18th century. Considering the long history and Nagasena’s (a Brahmin who became a Buddhist sage and lived about 150 BC) prophesy that the Emerald Buddha would bring “prosperity and pre-eminence to each country in which it resides”, the Emerald Buddha deified in the Wat Phra Kaew is deeply revered and venerated in Thailand as the protector of the country.

พระอุโบสถ ตั้งอยู่ส่วนกลางของวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม มีก�ำแพงแก้วล้อมรอบ มี ซุ้มประดิษฐานเสมารวม 8 ซุ้ม พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช โปรดเกล้าฯ ให้สร้างขึ้นใน พ.ศ. 2326 เพื่อประดิษฐานพระพุทธมหามณีรัตนปฏิมากร (แก้วมรกต) ที่พระองค์ทรงอัญเชิญมาจากเวียงจันทน์ ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2322 (พบพระแก้ว มรกต ครั้งแรกที่เจดีย์ ณ วัดพระแก้ว อ.เมือง จังหวัดเชียงราย) ในการสร้างพระอุโบสถหลังนี้ใช้เวลา 3 ปี ส�ำเร็จเรียบร้อยลงใน พ.ศ. 2328 ต่อมา เมื่อประมาณได้เกิดเพลิงไหม้บุษบกทรงพระแก้วมรกตซึ่งโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ซ่อมขึ้นใหม่ ให้ทันฉลองวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดารามในปลายรัชกาล หลักฐานการก่อสร้างและรายละเอียดทางสถาปัตยกรรม ของพระอุโบสถในรัชสมัยนี้ ไม่ชัดเจนนัก นอกจากบ่งไว้ว่า ฝาผนังรอบนอกเป็นลายรดน�้ำปิดทองรูปกระหนกเครือ แย่งทรงข้าวบิณฑ์ดอกในบนพื้นสีชาด ฝาผนังด้านในเหนือประตูด้านสกัดเป็นภาพ เรื่องมารวิชัยและเรื่องไตรภูมิ ส่วนฝาผนังด้านยาวเขียนภาพเทพชุมนุมตามแบบที่สืบเนื่องมาจากสมัยอยุธยา ฝา ผนังระหว่างหน้าต่างเขียนภาพเรื่องปฐมสมโพธิ หลังคามุงด้วยกระเบื้องเคลือบซึ่ง ปรากฏว่ามีการแก้ไขในรัชกาลที่ 3 และ 4 ในภายหลังดังที่เห็นได้ในปัจจุบัน พระทวารกลาง เป็นพระทวารใหญ่สูง 8 ศอกคืบ กว้าง 4 ศอกคืบ ตัวบานเป็นบาน ประดับมุกลายช่องกลม ส่วนพระทวารข้างเป็นทวารรองสูง 7 ศอก กว้าง 3 ศอก 1 คืบ 10 นิ้ว ตัวบานเป็นบานประดับมุกกลายเต็ม ซึ่งบานพระทวารทั้ง 2 แห่งนี้ สมเด็จ ฯ

เจ้าฟ้ากรมพระยานริศรานุวัดติวงศ์ประทานความเห็นว่า “เป็นฝีมือที่น่าชมยิ่ง ตั้งใจ ท�ำแข่งกับบานที่ท�ำครั้งแผ่นดินพระเจ้าบรมโกศ ซึ่งอยู่ที่วิหารยอด” ภายในพระอุโบสถได้รับการตกแต่งอย่างวิจิตรงดงามตั้งแต่เพดานถึงพื้น กลางห้อง ประดิษฐานพระแก้วมรกตในบุษบกทองค�ำพร้อมด้วยพระพุทธรูปส�ำคัญมากมาย

An unique of the shop is a presentation of arts with contemporarily Thai atmosphere that is perfectly combined. Inside the shop is decorated with Thai Arts through small drama puppets displayed within the shop area together with palace style food full of taste. The introduced food, the shop’s notable dishes are as follows:- The first dish is fried hors d’oeuvres of assortment (composed of fried fish-paste balls, fried spring rolls, fried bread topping with shrimp, and golden vessel). The second dish is chicken in spicy Muslim curry. The next dish is roasted curry of stuffed lychees served inside the wholly young coconut. This food is the palace food which is difficult to find for eating. The next dish is bulge prawn Thai salad served with pomelo. The last dish is squid fried with salt egg. Both its appearance and colour allure to have it very much. The shop decoration in the style of Modern French Vintage with the colour of white combined with cream brown tone is looked luxury and warmth as if in the dream or a tale of the princess and the prince. The Jim Thompson Thai House Museum The Jim Thompson House is the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American entrepreneur who was the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company. Thompson’s achievements during his 25 year stay in the Kingdom of Thailand have won him much fame as the “Legendary American of Thailand”. For his contribution to the development of the Thai Silk industry, Jim Thompson was awarded the Order of the White Elephant, a decoration bestowed upon foreigners for having rendered exceptional service to Thailand. Thompson’s success story in Thailand has become one of the most popular postwar legends of Asia. In 1967, Jim Thompson went on holiday with friends to the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. There he set out for a walk in the surrounding jungle but never returned. Thus began the Jim Thompson legend. The house consists of a complex of six traditional Thai-style houses, teak structures that were purchased from several owners and brought to the present location from various parts of Thailand. Construction of the Thai house was completed in 1959.

Museum

Despite its personal appeal, “Thompson came to conceive of the collection as something more than a personal affair. He began to look upon it as one way of preserving a few of the country’s treasures from possible loss and destruction.” At the time when Thompson set out to be a serious antique collector, the beautiful antiquities of Southeast Asia were little known in the west, except for within a small circle of art experts and museums. In Thailand itself, such possessions were within the realm of only a few wealthy Chinese families and the nobility. The finest collections of local art were to be seen either in the National Museum or in the Buddhist temples. The rest were primarily kept as objects, part of the family heritage, handed down from generation to generation. These were more often kept for sentimental reasons rather than out of real admiration. Buddha images were regarded as sacred items for worship so they were rarely purchased by Thais for decorative purposes. The lack of consumer demand in those days meant that shops in Nakorn Kasem, the Chinese quarter of the city, were a gold mine of undiscovered and mostly unwanted treasures. In fact when Thompson frequented the shops in Nakorn Kasem, very fine pieces were available for low prices to anyone having keen eye. As more and more former palaces gave way to modern buildings featuring the Western architectural style, their contents found their way to the shops. Likewise farmers in the ancient capitals of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai regularly unearthed much older pieces. Most of Jim Thompson’s acquisitions were the result of his Sunday afternoon strolls along the alleyways of Nakorn Kasem, and his trips to Ayutthaya. In 1976, the Court-appointed administrator for the property of Jim Thompson received permission from government ministries of the Kingdom of Thailand to establish a foundation bearing Jim Thomp

Accordingly, the property was vested in the Foundation, and the house and art collection are now officially registered as a national museum. By virtue of the dictates of its charter and the abiding interests of Jim Thompson, the Foundation dedicates and commits itself to the preservation and conservation of Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.

เมื่อนึกย้อนไปในวัยเด็ก ทุกคนคงเคยผ่านการเล่นใน บทบาทสมมติ สมมติว่าตัวเองเป็นทหาร ต�ำรวจ พยาบาลฯลฯ น�ำผ้ามาคลุมเป็นชุดเครื่องแต่งกาย น�ำสิ่งของรอบกายมาสมมติ เป็นอุปกรณ์เพื่อให้สมบทบาทมากยิ่งขึ้น “การเล่นบทบาทสมมติ (Role Play)” เป็นหนึ่งในรูปแบบการเล่นของเด็กที่เป็นสากลทั่ว โลก ซึ่งทั้งสนุกและเกิดประโยชน์ในแง่ของการศึกษา จิตวิทยา และ การสร้างแรงบันดาลใจ แต่ในปัจจุบัน การสมมติของเด็กๆ ได้ถูก จ�ำลองอยู่ในคิดส์ซาเนีย คิดส์ซาเนีย กรุงเทพ เป็นศูนย์การเรียนรู้ในร่มที่ใหญ่ ที่สุดของคิดส์ซาเนียทั่วโลก และเป็นสาขาที่ 12 ของคิดส์ซาเนีย ซึ่งถูกสร้างเป็นสถานที่ที่เด็กๆ สามารถจะเล่นสนุกพร้อมกับได้ รับประสบการณ์ชีวิตจริง โดยลักษณะส�ำคัญในทุกๆ กิจกรรม ในเมืองคิดส์ซาเนียจะมุ่งเน้นให้เด็กๆ ลงมือท�ำเองจริง ให้เด็ก ได้รับประสบการณ์การเรียนรู้ผ่านการเล่นที่สนุกสนาน คิดส์ซา เนีย เปรียบได้กับประเทศๆหนึ่ง ที่มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะและมีระบบ เศรษฐกิจของตนเอง รวมถึงมีสกุลเงินที่เรียกว่า “คิดส์โซ” (kidZo) ใช้เป็นของตนเอง คิดส์ซาเนียเป็นเมืองจ�ำลองย่อส่วนที่ได้รับการ สรรค์สร้างขึ้นให้มีขนาดและรูปแบบเหมาะส�ำหรับเด็กวัย 4 – 14 ปี มีสิ่งปลูกสร้าง ถนน ยานพาหนะ สถานประกอบการ ธนาคาร ร้านค้า ห้างสรรพสินค้า สิ่งอ�ำนวยความสะดวก และมีส่วนประกอบ ภายในเมืองเช่นเดียวกับเมืองจริงๆ กิจกรรมของคิดส์ซาเนีย ช่วย ส่งเสริมความคิดสร้างสรรค์ ความคิดเชิงวิเคราะห์ ทักษะในการ สื่อสาร เสริมสร้างความมั่นใจในตนเอง และการให้ความร่วมมือกับ ผู้อื่น โดยผสมผสานความ-เป็นจริงและความบันเทิงเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมให้กับเด็กสามารถน�ำไปประยุกต์ใช้ได้ในโลก แห่งความจริง

สิ่งที่ผมมีความประทับใจ เกี่ยวกับกรุงเทพมหานครนั้น มีมากมายหลากหลายเรื่องราว ไม่ว่าจะเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยว ต่างๆ ที่มีมากมายหลากหลายรูปแบบ ที่ให้อารมณ์ในการท่องเที่ยวแตกต่างกันไป ตามแต่ที่เราต้องการ รวมถึง อาหารการกิน ที่มี มากมายหลากหลายชนิด ให้เราเลือกกิน จะเรียกว่า กินกันได้ 24 ชม ก็ไม่ผิดนัก แต่การท่องเที่ยวที่ผมชอบมากที่สุดของ เมืองหลวง ในประเทศไทยนั้น ผมคิดว่า การท่องเที่ยวเชิงวัฒนธรรม เป็นการท่องเที่ยวที่น่าสนใจ และสวยงามมาก ไม่ว่าจะเป็นวัดวาอาราม ต่างๆ ซึ่งมีความงดงาม อร่ามเรืองรอง เป็นที่น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจให้กับนักท่องเที่ยวอย่างผมยิ่งนัก บ่อยครั้งที่ผมมีเวลาว่างผมมักจะไปเที่ยววัดพระแก้ว ด้วยความรู้สึกว่า วัดพระแก้วเป็นวัดศูนย์กลางของประเทศไทย และมีความงดงามทางศิลปะเป็นอย่างมาก นักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติมาเที่ยวชมกันอย่างคึกคัก อีกทั้งวัดพระแก้วมีความส�ำคัญกับ ประเทศไทยเรา ไม่ว่าจะมีพิธีการต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับศาสนา พระบรมวงศ์ษานุวงศ์ ก็จะมาประกอบพิธีที่นี่ ผมมักจะเดินเล่นอยูใ่ นละแวกนัน้ จนทัว่ โดยเมือ่ เสร็จจากไหว้พระแก้วมรกต ผมก็เดินเท้าไปทีว่ ดั โพธิ์ เพือ่ ไหว้พระนอน ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่อยู่เคียงคู่กันมา ในย่านนั้น ก็ยังมีร้านอาหารอีกมากมาย โดยเฉพาะบริเวณท่าพระจันทร์ ตลอดแนวริมแม่น�้ำเจ้าพระยา มีร้านอาหาร อร่อยมากมายหลายร้าน นอกจากรสชาติที่อร่อยแล้ว บรรยากาศริมแม่น�้ำเจ้าพระยายามเย็นก็สวยงามอย่าบอกใคร เราสามารถนั่ง มองเรือด่วนแล่นบนผิวน�้ำ ในเวลาพระอาทิตย์ตก ก็เป็นอีกบรรยากาศหนึ่งของกรุงเทพ ที่น่าสัมผัสเลยทีเดียว ในเวลาค�่ำคืน เราสามารถมองไปที่สะพานพระราม 8 ซึ่งเปิดไฟสวยงาม พาดผ่านล�ำน�้ำเจ้าพระยา เป็นบรรกาศที่ โรแมนติค ส�ำหรับบรรดาคู่รัก ที่มานั่งรับลมยามค�่ำคืน และนี่ก็เป็นอีกหนึ่งความประทับใจเล็กๆของผมครับ

“Bangkok CityScape of The Bird’s EYE” ผมเชื่อว่า หลายๆคนรู้จัก เมืองหลวงของไทยเป็นอย่างดี นามว่า “กรุงเทพมหานคร” แต่ จะมีซักกี่คนที่ได้มีโอกาสชมกรุงเทพมหานครจากมุมสูง ได้เห็นสายน�้ำจากแม่น�้ำเจ้าพระยา แสงสีพร้อม กับวิถีชีวิตยามค�่ำคืน อีกทั้งธรรมชาติที่อยู่คู่กับเราทุกคนมานานแสนนาน ทุกครั้งที่ผมได้เห็นวิวของ กรุงเทพมหานคร ผมมองเห็นความยิ่งใหญ่และความงดงามที่ยังคงอยู่เสมอแม้ว่าเวลาจะผ่านไปแค่ไหน ก็ตาม
