GLOBAL FLEET Guide to Fleet Management Russia
Print guide Global version + Local version > Title Guide to Fleet Management RUSSIA
Within the world’s 8th largest economy, the Russian fleet market has a lot of potential to grow. The corporate fleet market already represented 4.3% of all vehicles (i.e. around 1.6 million units) in the beginning of 2013, and it is growing fast: car dealers reported sales of over 150,000 units in the first 7 months of 2013! Contributing to the growth potential is the share of employees who are provided with a company car. As elsewhere in Eastern Europe, most clients of fleet management and operational leasing companies are currently themselves multinational companies. Nevertheless, the example set by these firms is inspiring the larger Russian companies to follow suit. One example of a homegrown solution is VTB Leasing: owned by Russia’s VTB Bank, this large lease company developed an operational lease product to be rolled out in hundreds of Russian cities and will be aimed at SMEs - a strategy facilitated by the bank’s presence throughout Russia. And, when it comes to operational leasing, the sector is predicted to increase in popularity, with expedited growth at around 20% per annum until 2017! Needless to say many opportunities will arise in the coming months – and years.
