A variety of themes are explored. Center for Art and Design 205: Perception, Perspective & Power – An exhibit curated by the Class of 2019 Art History majors where relationships between artist, viewer, subject and medium are investigated. Diving into questions of identity, power differences and positionality, see how visual culture is shaped as well as how it shapes us.
Artists of the Cannon River Clay Tour: Place – through May 11 – Eleven artists, linked through geography and love of material, exhibit 10 place settings and sculptures that highlight the influences of place on the varied ceramic work they make. Featuring Barbara Zaveruha, Chris and Sue Holmquist, Colleen Riley, Donovan Palmquist, Glynnis Lessing, James LaChance, Joel Froehle, Juliane Shibata, Kelly Connole and Kip O’Krongly. To the Top! A Cup Show – through May 11 – An eclectic mix of drinking vessels created by regional ceramic artists Marion Angelica, Christie Clarke, Rafael Estrella, Sonja Hillestad, Judy Kutulas, Caroline Mecklin, Sue Pariseau, Elizabeth Pechacek, Katie Teesdale, Sarah Titus and Johnnie Walker. NHS Honors Art Show: Tied Together – May 15-June 8 – An annual spring exhibit of Northfield High School Honors Art Students featuring 20 junior and senior artists who have worked tirelessly to prepare cohesive and professional bodies of thematic work. This year’s group includes illustrators, painters, potters, sculptors, mixed-media specialists and computer illustrators. Artist Reception: May 17, 7-9pm with artist talks at 7:30pm. Refreshments will be served.

Cell Persona: Incarceration’s Impact on Black Lives – through May 11 – Artist Statement: “Cell Persona is about the far psychological and civic reach of incarceration into the lives of persons and their families’ [and their] ability to participate in democratic life even after incarceration. My cells discover the fact that disproportionately black persons populate our prisons and the cell reaches beyond its interior.” Whyldflhours – May 15-June 8 – New floral paintings by Benson Ramsey.
