Hotels winners 2017 Travellers’ Choice TripAdvisor, el prestigioso Portal Internacional de Turismo, ha anunciado los ganadores de los XIV Premios Anuales Travellers’ Choice para hoteles, que dan reconocimiento a los mejores establecimientos del mundo. Estos premios los otorga TripAdvisor una vez al año a los hoteles de todo el mundo en las siguientes categorías: Top Hoteles, Pequeños Hoteles, Económicos, Lujo, Románticos, Familiares, Servicio Excepcional y B&B/Hostales. Hasta un total de 25 hoteles son seleccionados por categoría. La selección de los hoteles galardonados se basa en más de 125 millones de opiniones y comentarios de los viajeros que fueron publicados en TripAdvisor en los doce meses sucesivos al otorgamiento del premio del año precedente. Estos comentarios y opiniones se analizan para determinar la lista de ganadores, calculándose por medio de un algoritmo que mide la calidad y la cantidad de las opiniones y los comentarios que aparece en TripAdvisor en la ficha del establecimiento. Los algoritmos que se utilizan son propiedad de TripAdvisor, pero principalmente se tiene en cuenta la calidad y cantidad de las opiniones de los viajeros y sus puntuaciones específicas para cada categoría. Este premio Travellers’ Choice reconoce lo mejor de lo mejor de los hoteles a nivel mundial, según la opinión de los que cuentan, es decir, los viajeros. La especialidad son las preparaciones de pescados y mariscos y como no serlo si están cada día al alcance de nuestras manos. Comer en Remota siempre es una sorpresa para el pasajero ya que se mezcla la cocina patagónica con la internacional. Nuestros huéspedes que nos visitan de todas partes del mundo siempre están buscando un poco de casa en este lugar al fin del mundo. Contamos con 72 habitaciones de 33 mts2 con vista al fiordo y a las montañas, todas revestidas de materiales nobles como la madera del Ciprés de las Guaitecas, especie típica de la zona lo cual le da un sello único a nuestra habitación. El olor de esta madera provoca que al entrar en la habitación, incluso con las persianas cerradas, el pasajero sienta que está en un bosque o rodeado de naturaleza patagónica. Tenemos 2 salones de 150 mts2 con capacidad de 120 personas y un ESPOT único con piscina climatizada de 15 mts, sauna finlandés, 2 jacuzzi al aire libre y una sala de masajes. NORTE GRANDE On the northern border with Peru and the region of Antofagasta, Chile is ruled by the arid Desert of Atacama. Villarrica and Pucón, lake, volcano and city whit excellente hotels, help make this one of the most “in” summer holiday resorts in Chile. Valdivia, on the banks of the River Calle Calle, is well worth exploring and saling around. Further south, at the foot of the Osorno Volcano, is the vast lake Llanquihue eith its shoreside villages of Frutillar, Puerto Varas, Puerto Octay, Centinela and Ensenada, dating from the early German colonists who first settled here. And just a stone throw away is Puerto Montt. Primer puerto comercial de Chile, sede del Poder Legislativo y capital de la V Región. Ubicado a 120 kilómetros de Santiago, con una población cercana a los 300 mil habitantes, tiene una superficie de 328,25 kilómetros cuadradados. De esta superficie, sólo el 6,5% comprende a terreno plano y un 93,5% a cerros, conformando un anfiteatro de 45 cerros, que le dan una connotación muy especial. La vasta ensenada que los descubridores llamaron Valparaíso, estaba habitada por los Changos, indígenas que se dedicaban básicamente a la labranza y a la pesca, utilizando para sus faenas balsas de cuero de lobo infladas que unían en pares con fuertes ligaduras y sostenidas con tablillas de madera. El primer contacto entre nativos y españoles fue en el año 1536, cuando Don Juan de Saavedra, capitán adelantado de las tropas de Diego de Almagro con una avanzada de sus hombres, ubicó en su rada al Santiaguillo, embarcación que venía del Perú trayendo vituallas y provisiones. En 1544 Pedro de Valdivia confirmó su nombre definiéndola como Puerto Natural de Santiago. En 1559 comenzó a delinearse un esbozo de ciudad partiendo de una Capilla construida en el actual emplazamiento de la Iglesia La Matriz. El 17 de Abril de 1791 se crea el primer Cabildo en Valparaíso, fecha que se considera como Día Oficial de la ciudad. El 9 de marzo de 1802 se otorga, en Madrid, la Real Cédula que daba a Valparaíso el título y Escudo de la ciudad.

Located 120 kilometers from Santiago, with a population of some 300,000 inhabitants, it features 328,25 square kilometers of surface area, of which only 6.5% is flat land and 93.5% of hills that make up a 45-hill amphitheater to the sea, giving it a very special touch. The vast bay that the Conquerors named Valparaíso was home to the Changos Indians who basically dedicated themselves to farming and fishing, using their bloated wolf skin rafts which they tightly bound together and suppoirted on wooden boards. The first contact between the local inhabitants and the Spaniards took place in 1536, when Don Juan de Saavedra, captain advancer of Diego de Almagro´s troops, together with some of his men, located in the bay the Santiaguillo, ship that came from Peru bringing provisions. In 1544 Pedro de Valdivia confirmed the naming of the city, defining it as the Natural Port of Santiago. In 1559 the first outlines of the city tool place, starting off with a Church built in the same spot that currently houses La Matriz Church. On April 17, 1791 the first town hall of Valparaíso was built, date which is still considered as the Official City Day. On March 9, 1802 the Royal Letters Patent, which gave Valparaíso the title and Arms of the city, was awarded in Madrid. By late 16th century and during the following ones, the first forts appeared with the castles of San Antonio, Blanco and San José. The 35

Al finalizar el siglo XVI, y durante los siguientes, aparecen las primeras fortificaciones con los castillos de San Antonio, Blanco y San José. La ocupación de la rada se produce en el plano, junto al mar. El maremoto de 1730 arrasa con la mayoría de las viviendas, lo que obliga la ocupación de los cerros. Nace lo que será el sello característico de Valparaíso. Su pintoresca arquitectura trepa por las laderas de los 45 cerros que rodean la bahía en un impresionante laberinto de calles, pasajes, escaleras y rincones. Sus típicos ascensores, románticos y anticuados, fueron construidos hace más de cien años. Aún en pleno uso, son un colorido punto de referencia. La parte baja de la ciudad, concentra la actividad comercial y bancaria en impresionantes edificios antiguos y modernos. La influencia neoclásica e inglesa es notoria. En los elegantes y centenarios edificios de calle Esmeralda, el tiempo que marca el Reloj Turri parece no querer avanzar. En el plano, enfrentando la Plaza Sotomayor, encontramos el edificio de la Comandancia en Jefe de la Armada Nacional, declarado Monumento Nacional. En su entorno, los edificios de la Sud-Americana de Vapores, Correo, Superintendencia del Cuerpo de Bomberos, Estación de Ferrocarriles, Aduana, Gobernación Marítima, conformando una zona típica. En el centro de la plaza, destaca el Monumento a los Héroes de Iquique, inaugurado el 21 de mayo de 1886. En su cripta se encuentran los restos del Capitán Artuto Prat y héroes que combatieron en la Guerra del Pacífico (1879-1883). Subiendo por Almirante Montt, se llega al Cerro Concepción, donde los millonarios salitreros ingleses y alemanes construyeron palacios y adoquinaron los bellos Paseos Atkinson y Gervasoni. En el Cerro Alegre, siguiendo por el pasaje Bavestrello, se encuentran el Paseo Yugoslavo y el Palacio Baburizza, casa museo que conserva la pomposidad de quienes fueran sus dueños. La cúspide del Cerro Bellavista alberga a La Sebastiana, una casa de cinco pisos que asemeja un barco de colores. Aquí el poeta y Premio Nobel (1971), Pablo Neruda y su esposa Matilde Urrutia, celebraban la llegada del año nuevo viendo los fuegos artificiales que iluminan toda la bahía. En cada ventana de sus antiguas edificaciones está escrita la historia de Valparaíso y la vida agitada del, por mucho tiempo, principal puerto del Pacífico que ha visto pasar infinitos barcos y sus tripulaciones, y fuente de inspiración de músicos, pintores, poetas. Pablo Neruda con su libro “Valparaíso” da fe de ello. occupation of the bay took place on the flat land, by the sea. In 1730, tidal waves destroyed practically all the houses, making it necesary for the inhabitants to seek refuge in the hills. This was the beginning of what would become a typical seal of Valparaíso. Its picturesque architecture climbs up the 45 hills that surround the bay in an impressive labyrinth of streets, alleyways, stairs and corners. The old and nostalgic lifts, built over 100 years ago and still in use today, are a colorful landmark of this city. The lower part of the city boasts the commercial and financial activities in impressive old and modern buildings. Neo-classic and the British influences are clearly evident, especially in the elegant and century-old buildings at calle Esmeralda where Time, marked by the Turri clock, seems to stand still. Facing Plaza Sotomayor, is the headquarters of the Commander in Chief of the Navy, declared a National Monument. Surrounding it are the buildings of the Sud-Americana de Vapores Company, Post Office, Supenintendence of Fire Fighters, Railway Station, Customs, Marine Headquarters, making up a typical area. In the middle of the plaza, outstanding is the Monument to the Heroes of the Battle of Iquique, inaugurated on May 21, 1886. On the crypt lie the remains of Captain Arturo Prat and other heroes who fougth in the Pacific War (1879-1883). Heading up along Almirante Montt, you arrive at Cerro Concepción, where British and German millionaires who made their fortune from the nitrate mines built palaces and paved the beautiful Atkinson and Gervasoni pedestrian streets. In Cerro Alegre, up along Bavestrello is the Paseo Yugoslavo and Palacio Baburizza, museum that maintains the opulence of its former owners. At the top of Cerro Bellavista is La Sebastiana, a five-story house that resembles a colorful boat. Here, Pablo Neruda, poet and Nobel Prize winner (1971) and his wife Matilde Urrutia celebrated New Year’s Eve watching the magnificent firework display that illuminates the entire bay. The history of Valparaíso is embedded in every window of the buildings. As is the hectic life of the main port of the Pacific that has witnessed the passing of endless ships and crews and been the source of inspiration for musicians, painters, writers and poets, evident in Pablo Neruda´s book, “Valparaíso”. Painters such as Camilo Mori and Juan Francisco González whose famous artworks are housed in the Museum of Fine Arts, have immortalized its magic.
