Sta Macmillan Co ee Morning
On Friday 24th of November, we held the annual fundraising Macmillan co ee morning in the sta room. The Macmillan co ee morning is renowned to be the world’s biggest co ee event organised to raise money and awareness for cancer and people living through cancer. The event dates back to the 1990s and combines people’s passion for socializing over a cup of co ee with solidarity.
Mrs Critcher was our perfect host and, in her own words, she describes the event as:
“All day, there was a delicious array of treats for sta to enjoy, including a homemade Caecilius the Caterpillar cake (not a Colin or a Cuthbert in sight)”. The total raised was a fantastic £225.69”
A fantastic success indeed, well done to the NHEHS sta !
Toys for Refugees
Following the news of the recapture of Ka moved by the massive number of refugee wanted to do something to help.
We have been collecting toys for the 62 r Heathrow. Each form was allocated 2-3 children, and asked to bring in a collection of age-appropriate toys, stationary and books, and a bag for each child to carry their gifts in.
The children were absolutely thrilled and time for their first day at school.
Wear Red or Green Day
On the 17th of September, senior school students wore one red/green (the colours on the Afghan flag) item of clothing/hair accessory alongside their school uniform for a £1 donation. We raised around £450 which will all go to the Ealing branch of Care4Calais who will buy clothing for both adults & children living in local hostels.
Year 11 Charity Events
Year 11 are supporting Anti-Slavery International as their chosen charity.
Leena Flade, a Year 11 charity rep told us why they chose this charity:
“Anti-Slavery International is the charity that Year 11 has chosen to support this year. For over 180 years, they have been working to end slavery, making them the world's oldest human rights organisation. They have roots in the first abolition movement that ended the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. They are at the front line of modern slavery and are currently working with 40 local partner organisations and communities in over 20 countries, directly supporting more than 115,200 people a ected by slavery to claim their rights and take control of their lives. They currently have projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, including the UK. The work that this charity does is extremely important, and they manage to make incredible change, which is why we have decided to support them through various charity events this month.”
