A Powerful Educational Experience

Interdisciplinary studies is a 33-credit hour master of arts program of study that allows students to construct an innovative curriculum by pulling from disciplines that interest them most. With hybrid and fully online options, the program is ideal for recent graduates, mid-career professionals, and nontraditional students with a wide variety of career interests. The greatest strength of MAIS is its flexible curriculum, which offers opportunities for internships, independent studies, and research within a field of study.

Past students have pursued careers in management, education, nonprofit administration, doctoral studies, or advancement within their existing career pathway.

“This is a great option for working professionals because of the flexibility it offers.”

Christine chose MAIS program because it allowed her to focus on her main area of interest, which was public history, while studying disciplines that mattered most to her. She completed an internship with the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, and now works at the center as their interim director of education. Christine says that she pulls from things she learned in her classes at Niagara University on a daily basis in her current job, and is grateful for the opportunities the interdisciplinary studies program opened up for her.
