About the author Dr. Nia:

Unconventional, unorthodox, and unapologetically me when it comes to ministry.

She believes the Word of God as stated in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” However, she knows that the changes in society and time mean that we must change how we convey the Word of God to this new generation. Nia’s ministry is to the downtrodden, the outcasts, and to those the church has given up on. She has a strong love and compassion for these types of people; she understands that deep feeling of rejection all too well. At one point, it was her. Her mission is to engage millennials with uncommon practices in inistry— practices that actually appeal to them. She then equips them with the Word of the God and all the necessary armor that they need for today’s battles. Finally, she sends them forth, empowered that they may bring others into the Kingdom of God.

debuts in the label’s history. Just Love also made music chart history. Wilson was the only artist to have four active singles (“All I Need,” “Already Here,” “Just Love,” and “Awesome God”) on Billboard’s Gospel Top 20 chart at the same time. The first single release, “All I Need,” spent an unprecedented 92 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart.

Uncle G’s career began as a family affair, which is how he got his name. In the late 1990s he began managing transportation for his nephew, Percy “Master P” Miller, and eventually became manager for both Master P and his son, Romeo. Because Master P always called Lyons “Uncle G,” others began doing the same. Over time, that became the name by which he was known, so, he says, “I adopted the world as my nieces and nephews.”

Uncle G has a particular talent for, and interest in, taking on little-known gospel singers and independent artists and introducing them to the music industry and the world. As a manager, he not only handles bookings, promotional events, concert tours, and radio promotion, he also helps his artists prepare for and make the often-difficult transition from church or local singers to recording artists.

While Uncle G earned his stripes in the music business as a rap and hip-hop impresario, more recently his work is almost exclusively focused on gospel artists. As a measure of his talent, he has had extraordinary success in both genres. Uncle G was managing Romeo during the 2001 release of the young rapper’s chart-topping debut album L’il Romeo, which was certified gold after its first week of sales. That year, at age 11, Romeo won a Billboard Music Award for Rap Artist of the Year, becoming the youngest solo artist to win a Billboard Award, beating out Michael Jackson, who won his first Billboard Award as a solo artist at age 14

Uncle G made the transition to the gospel music industry when a friend sought his assistance in developing a new gospel music label. He helped start D2G (Dedicated 2 God) Records, where he managed its first artist, Niyoki, a former backup singer for Prince. Niyoki’s first gospel CD, My Everything, met with great success, and its first single, “He’s Here,” made it to #5 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart.

Uncle G’s artist management clients include Alexis Spight, the 19-year-old first runner-up for the 2012 season of BET’s Sunday Best, Alexis’s 11-year-old sister Jada and Sunday Best Season Four first runner up Andrea Helms. former artists. Other than his ground breaking work with Brian Courtney Wilson, he has been instrumental in boosting the careers of Trini-tee 5:7, whose single “Over and Over,” from their album Angel and Chanelle, landed in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart; BET’s Sunday Best winners Le’Andria Johnson, Amber Bullock and Joshua Rogers; Sunday Best first runners-up Andrea Helms, Elder Goldwire McLendon and Alexis Spight; and veteran gospel recording artists Vanessa Bell Armstrong; Juanita Bynum; and Micah Stampley. Uncle G Radio and Promotions has also been contracted for radio promotions and tracking for artists including Pastor E. Dewey Smith of The Greater Travelers Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia; independent gospel artist Tracy Randall (Lavish Records); and Myesha Chaney of Kingfomanity Entertainment. Hip-Hop Management Uncle G’s management of Master P and Romeo eventually led to him taking the reins of No Limit Records in 2000, a label that was started by Master P. While at the helm of the highly-successful label, Uncle G managed a star-studded roster of rappers, which included: Cymphonique Miller, Snoop Dogg, C-Murder, 5th Ward Weebie, Chopper City, Silkk Da Shocker, Mystikal, Mr. Magic, Mia X, Krazy, Tebo, Curren$y, Lil D and Black Diamonds. He put together rap mogul 50 Cent’s first high-profile tour—“The Street Ballers Tour,” with Silkk Da Shocker, Chopper and 5th Ward Weebie. Uncle G has also managed Chicago-based rap artist Louchiano aka LOUXIII. Television and Film Projects While managing Romeo’s music career, Uncle G also became involved in Romeo’s television and movie projects. He served as an associate producer on The Romeo Show on Nickelodeon

TV, where he assisted Romeo with his lines and oversaw his schedule, promotion and public appearances, among other matters. He also oversaw his appearance in the movie, Honey (2003). He supervised Romeo on set and off during the film’s five-month shoot in Toronto, Canada. Other Projects Uncle G is also committed to supporting organizations that help people in need, particularly children. Over the years he has worked with Romeo to support the Make A Wish Foundation, which grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. In 2012, he worked with Alexis Spight to support the Toys for Tots Christmas campaign. More About Uncle G Uncle G was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He currently lives in Richmond, Texas, just outside of Houston, with his wife, Tiesha and their two children, Amor and Amir ages 12 and 4 respectively. His older son, Gregory is a graduate of Morehouse College and resides in Atlanta. Uncle G is looking ahead to continuing the family tradition of working in the entertainment industry. His younger children have already appeared in music videos and television shows. Dedication Without Frustration Equals No Elevation By: Gerald B. Colson So what does that mean? That was the statement the Lord said to me today as we had one of our many conversations. When you elevate over something you rise above it. What that statement means is that if you are dedicated to doing something there will always be people or things the enemy will throw in your path to frustrate you. If everything you do goes too smoothly then you must not be doing anything of importance that will make a difference. I say that because if you are truly trying to do anything productive and/ or meaningful the enemy will try to hinder that by trying to throw you off what you are doing. That is when the frustration comes in to play. Try to think of frustration as hidden opportunities to grow and/or develop. I know that may not be how you want to think of it because I don’t sometimes. Can you imagine how surprised I was when the Lord told it to me. That was not what I wanted to hear, but it was what I needed to hear. In life we have many trying times to endure and overcome. Only by enduring those trying times can we discover who we are. My Pastor Dr. Joseph M. Ripley has a saying that rings true “Trying times don’t develop character it reveals it”. Through those trials we discover some of the most important things about ourselves we would otherwise never known. Through those discoveries you come to understand who you are and what you can do. You gain the confidence to believe that you can do the harder more difficult things in life. That confidence gives you the lift to start to elevate higher and higher in life. As you rise up in elevation you are able to see just how far you have come and what you have overcome. From that elevation your problem don’t look as big as before. On The Road to Success just remember “Dedication Without Frustration Equals No Elevation”. Untold Chronicles | 30

Prophetic words for the soul

Your Exit is Just Up Ahead By Becky Porter

I hear the Lord saying: You feel like you have been in a labyrinth, and it seems that there is no way out, but I’m going to show you the way out - I’m going to escort you out of the labyrinth and into your Promised Land! They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength - you have waited well, My beloved one, you have waited well! Your exit is just up ahead - get ready to enter into My Promised Land of blessings - get ready! You don’t need to worry that you might miss your exit or take the wrong one, for I am in the driver’s seat, and I am going to get you safely to your destination! As you stay in rhythm and in step with Me, the two of us, together, will enter the land I have promised you. You will flow in rhythm and synchronization with Me as you continue to wait upon Me. As you continue to stay in the secret place of intimacy with Me the two of us will dance together in harmony as One.

more about waiting for the Lord’s providential care, but most New Testament references relate to Christ’s second coming. In all cases, it is about waiting expectantly and with hope. Fundamental to being able to wait is trusting God’s character and goodness. Waiting on the Lord is something the godly do. It’s about holding on tight, hoping with expectation and trust, knowing that our Lord is not making us wait just to see how long we can “take it.” There are times when God will delay His answer, and we will at times wonder why He seems so reluctant to intervene in our affairs: “I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God” (Psalm 69:3). But knowing the Lord, we trust that He will come at the perfect moment, not a second too soon or too late.

mation of what He wants for us. Waiting on the Lord involves the confident expectation of a positive result in which we place a great hope - a hope that can only be realized by the actions of God. This expectation must be based on knowledge and trust, or we simply won’t wait. Those who do not know the Lord will not wait on Him; neither will those who fail to trust Him. We must be confident of who God is and what He is capable of doing. Waiting on the Lord renews our strength (Isaiah 40:31). Prayer and Bible study and meditating upon God’s Word are essential. To wait on the Lord we need a heart that is responsive to the Word of God, a focus on the things of heaven, and a patience rooted in faith.

Untold Chronicles | 34

Unequalley Yoked By: Apostles Johnnie & Tonia Foster

Many Christians are in marriages that were not ordained by God. Nevertheless, because the vow was made to marry the spouse, and because God honors marriage, many choose to remain in their marriage. The Bible talks about being unequally yoked in the book of Deuteronomy 22:10 which is in reference to a yoke, a harness type of device that is placed around the neck of two animals. It was placed on an ox and a donkey. Because of the height difference of the animals and the power they produced, it would cause them to go in a circle. Relatable to a marriage that is unequally yoked, it denotes a marriage that is not going anywhere. It puts them in a rut or on a hamster’s wheel that’s spinning and going nowhere. Another definition for yoke is a military term meaning you’re not to get out of your ranks. In other words, we are not to go outside of our Christian body or standard to date or walk with a heathen or an unbeliever. What many don’t understand is as believers there’s a standard we must uphold. Amos 3:3 states,” Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Why? Because there is an imbalance and when something is imbalanced it’s shaky, it’s hard to move as one in the marriage. When you are unequal it means that you are not equal and therefore you are not in agreement. It sets you up in a position of bearing the cross. You will have to deal with the hell that goes along with the commitment or vow that you made. A good example of this is: You are a believer and you are trying to live according to the standards of God. Your struggle is your spouse who is an unbeliever who loves the world. One of you typically will influence the other by either pulling them in towards the kingdom and the value it holds or pull the other back towards the world and its views. Somebody is going to draw the other in one way or the other. A question to ponder is, what is drawing you as a believer to an unbeliever? Many times, it’s because of loneliness and wanting to feel loved by anyone who will accept you. Many spouses were in broken relationships and now you are willing to sacrifice all things in your current relationship/marriage to make it work. You believe the spouse has the potential to change or that you can be the one to help change them. Doing this can cause many sorrows, arguments, and up and downs in your relationship/marriage. Where there is unity, there are commanded blessings. Can an unequally yoked marriage work? Absolutely!!!!! The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:1 “Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.” In other words, through our character, conduct and behavior we can win them over to Christ. Also, 1 Corinthians 7:13-15, “And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. An unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace.” This is why premarital counseling is so important. It will keep you from going into a marriage without understanding the expectations of each other and keep you from being blindsided. You can then decide whether you would like to go forward or dissolve the relationship. Before getting yourself involved in an unequally yoked relationship/marriage, seek the Lord and ask is this person an assignment, one in whom you are to plant seed or to water or is this a covenant relationship ordained by God.
