ichael Anthony Johnson is an entrepreneur, author, urban gospel artist, keyboardist, songwriter, and owner of Centertainment Focus Network. Born and raised in Kansas City. He had a rich upbringing in black gospel music from his family’s gospel ensemble. In early July 2010, Michael was

inspired with the birth of a new vision and direction in broadcasting. His online radio station CentertainmentRadio.FM, (formerly NiACOM) begin to come of age. This platform began with the vision of interviewing new Inspirational Artists/Authors/Announcers/Achievers, who communicated the gospel message incorporated in the gifts. This platform was designed to reach the world with the gospel message to an awaiting and hungry, thirsty and searching audience. After prayer and divine direction, in 2013, Michael and another business part-

ner decided to start an online TV network as a sister to the radio platform.

After just a few months, Centertainment TV was broadcasting worldwide with a direction of giving new indie gospel artists and local and national businesses a place to shine and broadcast their offerings in an affordable way. After winning local and national awards for its content and broadcast ability, Centertainment Focus Network was born. Michael knew it was time to move to newer platforms using cord cutting technology to grow the tv network. In January 2020, Michael moved the Centertainment TV to ROKU and Fire TV. It has opened up a new era for Centertainment to broadcast to the world with programming that will educate, edify and inspire a new worldwide audience. Michael Anthony Johnson stated some of his challengs as being closed doors and yet he has been blessed to start expansion into the ROKU and Firestix arena which in turn opens up CFN to a much bigger platform. We asked Mr. Johnson to give the readers a piece of advice and he left us with this: “Wait on the Lord and be of good courage is the greatest advice I can give. When I waited, even in the quiet, (after I added faith to my works by starting the networks,) God began to move us into position to bless others and in return be blessed.”

There is a myth, propagated mostly by certain men’s blogs, social media sites and journals, that being a stylish man requires great effort. We must keep an eye to the fashion runways in Italy, to the ready-to-wear shows, to Fashion Week in New York to appear as if we care what we look like. Nonsense. The truth is there are dozens of quicker and easier ways to look better, more with it, more stylish – all with a minimum of effort. I decided to offer my input and provide 8 simple, ready-to-impress tips for instantly upping your style quotient. Let us begin… 1. Stop Dressing Like a Boy, Dress Like a Grown Man Many men approach their style from the wrong angle; they aim to look youthful. But if you want to look well-dressed, you should always aim to look mature. Because maturity is an attractive quality in men. Maturity, after all, is what separates the men from the boys. Maturity shows masculinity and commands respect, and it is a quality you want people to see in you. That does not mean you have to dress

PAGE

like your father. It just means you have to dodge depicting yourself as an adolescent. Do not worry, I will give you some more practical tips on how to do so. Starting with… 2. Put some shine on those shoes - They may not be the first thing you think about, but a fresh shine makes all the difference. Not only does it look snappier, but your kicks will live longer, too. 3. Change the basics - Take a long look at the staples in your wardrobe, like the simple white oxford. Then flip the script subtly. Use a spread collar as an alternative to a button-down. Or try a denim shirt with snaps instead of buttons. 4. Socks matter - The simplest rule of thumb when selecting socks is that their color should never match the shoe. Choose a single element of your getup – the tie, the shirt, the blazer – and match that.

Eleva

YourS

5. Add just a splash of color - The simplest, most timeless, and most effective splash of color you can incorporate into your daily routine is the casual, well-worn pink oxford. 6. Try something super trendy - It is wise to have a sturdy, easily maintained wardrobe of timeless items. But it is not that hard to find a single item that is entirely au courant and works with your look. This year, the easiest thing to go for is a blazer with a peaked lapel. They are really, really happening right now. 7. Befriend a tailor - Don’t tinker with your tailor. Use him. A tailor can often alter ill-fitting items that you love, bringing new life to items you would otherwise chuck. 8. Always choose quality fabric - As important as a tailor is the grade of fabric, so bury the instinct to skimp on lesser items that will not last – they will look like it. Quality work is key. Also, knowing how you prefer your personal fit will help your tailor achieve the results you want. Dress Well and Look like a More Polished, Masculine

better. So, go on and start! Whether you start with getting nicer shoes or adorning your wrists. Just start somewhere. And after you took that first step, take the next, and so on. And before you know it, you will look in the mirror, and you will see a guy looking back who looks just like you, except… YES. A better-dressed version of you. Yours in fashion, Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds

13 Some of my challenges as I began to walk into my calling was the enemy fighting my ability to keep or find a job. It was so bad that we had to stay with my wife’s mom. There were times I felt like a failure. I was depressed and the enemy thought he had me. All kinds of crazy thoughts raced through my mind yet God kept us.

This turned into sneaking in my cousin’s room next door in my tween through teen years and looking at Playboy magazines. This led to masturbation and wanting to see more. Even though I was exposed to these types of behaviors, I was able to maintain physical virginity. I always told others that God kept me in a bubble. N.I.C.E.’s path has triumphantly led to the independent chart-topping success of his 1st single “I Got Angels” and debut album, PRAISE – faith-fortified message music bonded with the street heat of urban pop’s hottest hits and, most importantly, powerful metaphorical lyrics kicked by a wise young brother who has lived, strived and studied that of which he speaks. Plus, as an author as well as co-creator of the urban animated series “Da Jammies,” the first black animated music series for kids on Netflix and is now on xFinity Comcast, Amazon Prime, Roku, Apple TV and Hulu, N.I.C.E. knows no creative limits. For many years in life, I’ve faced adversity on so many fronts from the music business to my personal wellbeing allowing different individuals assumptions and analytics to be the governance of how I operated life, only to find that their intentions for me was never that of being successful. It was literally about what doors I could open for them, that they could walk in and through, then attempt to lock me out forgetting that I was the catalyst for why those doors opened in the first place. I flashback to when I was hit by a diesel truck when I was young, when I was told that I wasn’t going to be the same and I would be physically impaired to God

EMCEE N.I.C.E giving me victory and not only was I not the same, I was a whole new me and physically better, in fact All-American better. Then there are the flashbacks of my young brother being killed and my mother finding out before the police by way of someone who was present but disappeared only to find out that, “that someone” died shortly after. Then flashbacks of my favorite cousin dying, my mentor/pops passing away suddenly to literally members of my family passing away every year sometimes two in one year since

my faith and put God’s love for me in doubt, but the lord reminded me that his love is never in doubt and kept hitting me with Jeremiah 29:11, telling me all that I have to do is stand firm with my beliefs and stay steadfast. Some of the challenges I face today outside of the non-believers of course is with the Christian and gospel community as whole. A lot of believers in the position of power feel like they are entitled and that they own the genre, business and culture, they recite scripture to you, know the word through and through but use it to manipulate and take advantage of you. What I am finding out is that some of the brothers and sisters in Christ, is more ruthless than a lot of the executives on the secular side of things. The mistake I made was believing that we as believers being united by faith, would do good business with one another and that’s what’s not happening today. So, I made it my mission to educate those not in the know and try to provide as many outlets as I can to help them thrive. Not only am I spiritually motivated, but as a Christian, it is my duty.
