The 18th Best of Varietal Wine Judging Competition kicked off the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival as wine judging in over 20 categories took place April 26 at the Penticton Ramada. This unique wine judging offered British Columbia winemakers the opportunity to judge their peers and award the Best of Varietal in popular consumer categories. Qualified Okanagan winemakers from among the 113 member wineries judged more than 360 wines. The winners were announced at the Best of Varietal Wine Awards and Reception on May 3 at a packed group of wine enthusiasts at the Laurel Heritage Packinghouse in Kelowna.
