Letter From The Editor When we decided to start this magazine, people said we were crazy. "Magazines are dead," everyone said, and we agree. The old standard of magazine publishing is dead because today's woman is smart, savvy and can read between the lines. They know when the advice given is masked as editorial content but really comes from a key advertiser. They know when a story has been recycled and regurgitated 50 times in 50 different ways. Newsstands are filled with magazines that are designed to line the pockets of the suits and investors, who are mostly men. When online media companies and blogs
began to pop up women flocked to this "new media" with fervor and excitement and let's face it, we all get a good bit of news, fashion tips and other lifestyle material from online resources. However, in the last few years the volume of online media content has become completely overwhelming and we felt it was time to get back to basics in a totally modern, fresh and future seeking way. So, we created Nicole Magazine to give women something to read cover-to-cover with real, engaging fresh content. Think of us as the curators of the huge wealth of information out there. We promise to
give you something you have yet to discover in each issue. We promise never to sell out to advertisers. We promise to always care about what's new fresh, affordable, but also what's worth the "splurge." Most of all, we promise to create a magazine you actually want to read cover to cover... and the best part is we distribute the magazine in Blo dry bars, salons, spas and boutiques where you actually have the time to read it cover to cover! Our Fall issue is packed with fashion insight and trends.

Istanbul
By Lori Riviere
''Exotic, enchanting and full of good food, at least for those who eat meat.'' Istanbul is a city that sits at the top of my list of places to visit. The gateway to Asia, the city straddles Europe and is separated by the Bosphorus. This mix of Eastern and Western culture yields a wonderful mix of delights for travelers. The city's top sights include treasures such as the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace that gives insight into Muslim culture and sultan rule. There is also a labyrinth of chic neighborhoods, great shopping and fun experiences that await the traveler who is willing to step off the beaten path and explore.

Where to Stay
X Flats Instanbul
Our favorite is the Pera location, but they have locations dotted across the city. The rooms are well appointed and feature comforts of a flat such as a sofa and kitchen or kitchenette, but with someone on site during the day and a cleaning crew that amps it up from an airbnb experience. www.xflats.com
Where to Eat Blice Karafirin
This small @cheap eats@ restaurant is a can't miss experience. You select your meats and the server brings you a silver tray full of toppings and bread that is almost like a giant Turkish tortilla. They serve meat on piping hot skewers and you build your own kebab!
Sahrap In the chic Beygolu neighborhood on a quiet side street with outdoor seating and some of the best hummus in the city, this quaint joint serves modern Turkish food in a chic setting. The bonus is the owner@s cookbook is available for purchase so you can recreate dishes you love. www.sahraprestaurant.com
Where to Shop Bebek Neighborhood
The Grand Bazaar The obvious choice for shopping, but prices are inflated and goods are kitschy.
A great neighborhood to get your feet wet. Start at CASHMERE IN LOVE 16/7 Bebek caddesi, Bebek, Istanbul 00 90 212 263 9474. www.cashmereinlove.com @ Then work your way around the neighborhood. Be sure to stop at Yargici, which is like a Turkish Ann Taylor with great denim and accessories.
What to Do Private Tour
Private tour guide Samme Onerbay will save you oodles of time by skipping lines at the Cistern, Topkapki Palace and Hagia Sofia and he can customize a tour for you. The ideal tour would be a half or full day to include sites where tour groups have their own entrance and the spice bazaar where he will show you the best places to purchase Turkish delight and a secret haunt to find souvenirs at bargain prices. Email Semih.onerby@gmail.com for a quote. Half day tours start at around 300 dollars.
Ayaya Sofia Hurrem Sultan Hamam The most luxurious of all the Hamam experiences. This hamam opened a few years ago and was refurbished from a 16 century hamam used by the sultans. Get ready to get naked and get a scrub down that will exfoliate and clean you like you@ve never been cleaned before! www.ayasofyahamami.com
Marbling Class Turkish marbling @Ebru@ is an ancient art form that is fun and relatively easy to learn. There is a private class available near Galata tower and you will leave with a few pieces to frame at home. It is fun and rewarding. 70 Euro per person. www.lesartsturcs.com

SITTING DOWN WITH
We sat down with “Devious Maids star Roselyn Sanchez to talk the show, her star studded cast mates, cheating, and other guilty pleasures. Some of her answers may surprise you. Take a look into the mind of Latina actress and #WCW fave Roselyn Sanchez.
1. Your character on Devious Maids is a
complete narcissist, but somehow we still love her. How do you make her so lovable? ROSELYN: It was a concern of mine for people to accept Carmen. She is indeed a very complicated character with a big dose of narcissism. I told the producers early on that I didn’t wanted to play the typical narcissist vixen, that I wanted to create a more complicated character. It was my goal to not judge the character and accomplish for the audience not to judge her either. My dream was to make her exactly that, full of herself but very loving. I wanted charisma for her, fun for her, dreams for her, insecurities for her, great self esteem for her, low self esteem too.... At the end, I wanted to make a character that is completely out of tune with reality, the most real person ever.
2. Being on set with so many strong, beautiful
and smart women must be so much fun. What would you say is the best part of being in a ensemble cast of female leads? ROSELYN: Just that, that we are all powerful, independent, mothers, and wives. We have a lot of respect for each other’s talent and what each one brings to the table. It’s been awesome to work with them and create such cool characters.
3. How is it having Eva Longoria as a boss? Do
you get free meals at Beso? ROSELYN: Eva is the ultimate. What an incredible woman... Her ability to do so many things at the same time and do them all well is an inspiration to me. Having her as a boss is awesome. Haven’t tried the free meal at Beso!! Good idea though... Let me check on that!
4. Would you say you are a neat freak or a closet
and since this business is brutal when it comes to women and age, you gotta do what you gotta do. So lots of working out, eating well, etc. Plus, I have a great life which keeps me happy and laughing. Smiling and good energy is the best source of beauty. 7. What 3 beauty products can you not live without? ROSELYN: Raya Mint Soufflé Face Soap, Stila Vanilla Lip Gloss, Nerium 8. How do you get your hair so shiny? ROSELYN: Lots of good loving care. I’m a slave to my hair. It takes a lot of abuse because of work so I have to really take care of it with good products. 9. There has been a growing number of minority women on television, but the number of roles is still disproportionately low in Hollywood. What advice would you give to young minorities looking to break in to the biz? ROSELYN: Have a clear vision, study, understand that the business is based on rejection. Understand your value and have absolute faith that you are really good at your craft. At the end of the day it is all about asking God for strength and wisdom. 11. Random question, do you have a guilty pleasure? ROSELYN: Cheez-It crackers 12. There’s a lot of scandal on the show...have you ever been cheated on? If so how did you deal with it? ROSELYN: Not that I know of. I wouldn’t handle really well. I’m Puerto Rican!
slob? ROSELYN: I think I’m both!!
5. Do you like to cook? If so what’s your famous
dish? ROSELYN: Don’t like to cook at all... Do it because I have to. I’m a wife and a mother so it comes with the territory. But not my thing at all.
6. You’re millions of people’s #WCW, how to do
you stay so crushable? Any work out tips? ROSELYN: Omg! That’s funny!! Well, I like to take care of myself. Thank God I enjoy to exercise
