Dear readers, August has arrived and with it the turning point of the summer. On both our islands time flies for those who come on holiday and for those who, like us, have the possibility to live and/or work here. Comidas y meriendas: Zumos verdes. Puedes jugar con una base de agua y espinacas batido primero en la batidora y añadir el zumo de Apio, Pepino, Hinojo, Berros, Col, Repollo, Acelgas, Brócoli, Calabacín... con una cucharadita de Hierba de trigo.

Cuando hablamos de detoxificación podemos hablar de la Hierba de trigo (WheatGrass) ya que ayuda a limpiar la sangre los riñones, el hígado y el tracto gastrointestinal. Cenas: Deberiamos cenar antes de las 20h si te acuestas a las 23H, pero si tu trabajo te obliga a estar hasta altas horas de la noche despierto va a ser difícil mantener la energía. Por las noches deberíamos tomar una sopa depurativa, como por ejemplo de col, cebolla, zanahoria, ajo, repollo, o sopa de miso de cebada con cebollino fresco cortado y algas. Las algas son excelentes para eliminar toxinas. Puedes ayudar a tu higado con todo este proceso tomando extracto de diente de leon, cardo mariano o cola de caballo, estás hierbas amargas harán que tu higado no trabaje más de la cuenta por que las toxinas se liberan en el torrente sanguineo y él es el encargado de filtralas. Ánimo, si lo haces sin prisa respetando las fases te será verdaderamente fácil. Salut!

••• A liquid diet reduces the digestive process which increases the body’s energy levels and enables cells to renew themselves. You can use a blender to make smoothies and either conserve the fibre to satisfy hunger or extract the juice. It would be preferable to have just liquids for three days as the fibre makes a difference. Here are some tips and examples: Fasting: warm water with squeezed lemon, coconut water, sea water... Breakfast: energy smoothies with vegetable milks. You can make juices with root vegetables and a fruit such as the ABC: apple, beetroot and carrot, with hints of lemon and ginger. Lunch and Snacks: green juices. You could try a water base with spinach mixed in the blender first, and then add celery juice, cucumber, fennel, watercress, kale, cabbage, chard, broccoli, courgette, etc. with a teaspoon of wheatgrass. When talking about detoxification it is important to talk about wheatgrass, as it helps cleanse the blood, kidneys, liver, and

gastrointestinal tract. Dinner: You should have dinner before 8pm if you go to sleep at 11pm, but if your job means you need to be awake late at night it will be difficult to maintain sufficient energy. At night you should have a cleansing soup, such as cabbage, onion, carrot, garlic, cabbage or a barley miso soup with freshly cut chives and algae. Algae are excellent for removing toxins. You can help your liver with the whole process by taking extract of dandelion, milk thistle or horsetail. These bitter herbs make sure your liver doesn’t need to work any harder than necessary as the toxins are released into the bloodstream which is then responsible for filtering them. Cheer up, if you follow these steps carefully without rushing it will be really easy. Cheers!

WHAT'S YOUR NAME? Yann. WHERE ARE YOU FROM? I'm French. I've lived in Ibiza for the last seven years but I'm from the north of France. SEVEN YEARS IN WHICH IBIZA HAS CHANGED A LOT, AS WELL AS PLAYA D'EN BOSSA; FIRST WE SAW USHUAÏA AND NOW HARD ROCK HOTEL. WHY THESE CHANGES? We have lived an evolution, as in all hotelrelated. I personally believe it has been a very positive upgrade of all the hotels and everything there is in Playa d'en Bossa and there have also been changes at musical level and clientwise on the island. AS ALL THE FRIENDS OF N&D DO, WE WANT TO KNOW A BIT MORE ABOUT PEOPLE, SO I'D LIKE TO ASK YOU WHICH IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ISLAND?

It is really a love story. I got here seven years ago and I felt at home from the first day I set my foot on the airport floor. I feel great here, really like at home, I like living here, I think it's a paradise and we are very lucky to be here and have the opportunity to enjoy these beaches and landscapes. WHICH IS THE MOST MAGICAL SPOT ON THE ISLAND FOR YOU? The truth is that I don't have a lot of time to get out of Playa d'en Bossa! Me espero lo que siempre espero de un evento; principalmente divertirme, porque esto para mi sigue siendo una gran diversión y, si algo he entendido en la vida ¡eso es lo que me espero! He pinchado en diferentes locales en Ibiza desde el ’92, empezando en Pacha, pero esta es la primera vez que pincho en Ushuaïa. Me espero una

noche bonita. Sé que Ants normalmente lo es, siendo la única con este estilo musical.

TRAS EL ÉXITO DE MUSIC ON IBIZA, ¿PIENSAS QUE AÚN HAY LUGAR PARA UNA FIESTA ITALIANA EN LA ISLA? No lo sé. Honestamente si tuviera que decir lo que quiero, me gustaría hacer una fiesta heterogenea, nada marcadamente italiano. Tampoco creo que Music On se pueda considerar un party italiano,

Una diferencia bastante grande, sin contar el hecho de que la música que yo hago es exactamente la misma. Esto es importante porque muestra que incluso cuando el público es diferente ahora tiene la madurez y el buen gusto de estar abierto a otros tipos de música. Aunque el Tipic ya cuenta con eventos con una audiencia de este tipo, normalmente la gente no suele ir a Formentera para los clubes, por lo cúal ya hay una gran diferencia. Pero creo que hay pocos lugares en el mundo como Ibiza.

¿QUE PIENSAS DE N&D MAGAZINE?

La última vez que la vi fue hace poco tiempo y me pareció muy agradable y con bonitas entrevistas. Vi en Formentera las ediciones de este año y me quedé muy impresionado. El diseño está muy bien, en línea con otras importantes revistas de Ibiza.

SERÁS LA PRÓXIMA PORTADA DE N&D ITALIA. ¿CREES QUE HAY ESPACIO PARA UNA REVISTA COMO LA NUESTRA EN EL MUNDO DE EL ENTRETENIMIENTO ITALIANO?

Creo absolutamente que sí. Por ejemplo, yo soy un fan de ciertas revistas más relacionadas con la moda, el estilo, noticias y análisis de la música y discotecas. Las revistas como The Face, que ya no existe pero que era uno de mis MUST. En mi opinión, una revista de este tipo tiene que dar un salto cualitativo en términos de contenido, incluso entrando en profundidad. Creo que debe de proporcionar información y abordar los temas que ayudan a la gente a crecer, incluso no sólo para dar información general. Este es mi consejo.

¿QUÉ NO DEBERÍA FALTAR EN ABSOLUTO?

Como acabo de decir, un estudio de ciertos temas, que son esenciales, ya que la vida nocturna es una parte importante a la que todos dedicamos tiempo, algunos casi toda su vida... pero la vida esta hecha tanbién de otras cosas...

would like an international party, not just with an Italian cut - I believe, however, that neither Music On can be considered as an Italian party, because Marco is very well known abroad and this makes his party an universal event, not just an Italian Dj playing in ibiza. El verano de 2014 en Ibiza ha sido extraño, con muchas confirmaciones y algunos fracasos inesperados. ¿Las razones? En primer lugar son muchas, de hecho demasiadas personas que se improvisan promoter. No es suficiente contratar a un buen artista y encontrar una buena location. Hace falta una organización válida, o el riesgo de hacer una mala impresión está a la vuelta de la esquina. Y en el verano de 2014 las fiestas de Ibiza que no funcionaron, incluso en famosos locales, han sido muchas. ¿Quién ha ido bien hasta ahora? Half way through the season is the perfect time to make reliable balances. The summer of 2014 in Ibiza has been strange, with many confirmations and some unexpected faliures. The reasons? First of all there are many, actually too many people calling themselves promoters. It is not enough to find a good artist and a good location. You need a valid organization, or the possibility of giving a bad impression will be round the corner. And the parties that didn't work in the summer of 2014 in Ibiza, even in famous clubs, have been many. Who has been doing well so far? Espercially consolidated names, teams and formats. Examples? “Flower Power” at Pacha and “Pure Pacha” have been selling-out. “Solomun” and Steve Aoki have responded well to the expectations. Carl Cox and “Enter”, are confirmations, Richie

Hawtin and “Café Olé” have also done well. At Amnesia exellent performances by “Music On” and “La Troya”, Sven Vath and “Cocoon” have responded to all expectations. At Privilege “SupermartXé” has confirmed itself as the biggest party. Meanwhile Ushuaïa is beating records with Avicii, Guetta, Departures and with the cult show “Ants”. Eso ocurrió cúando estuve en mi primer rave que fue Dreamscape en Londres en 1993. ¡Y he salido casi cada fin de semana desde entonces!

¿ALGÚNOS DJS QUE THE HAYAN INSPIRADO?

Hay tantos. En los primeros años era gente como DJ Randle. Luego vino Sasha. Pero últimamente mi inspiración central son mis amigos y residentes de Fuse.

¿CÓMO EMPEZÓ LA COLABORACIÓN CON ALEXKID PARA EL PROYECTO KILIMANJARO?

Alex vino a mi estudio después de un trabajo y le estaba poniendo algo de música en la que trabajaba. Me enteré de que primer tema con F-com de la casa Laurent Garnier era de drum & bass. Hablamos más, y decidimos explorar nuestro amor mútuo por el género y trabajar en un híbrido techno/jungle.

¿CLUB PREFERIDO?

Para sonar tiene que ser Village underground en Londres porque hemos trabajado mucho en el sistema y está preparado para mi estilo. Para ir de fiesta tiene que ser Panoramabar.

I’m form London, born and bred. But my family is from Sicily.

RELATION WITH IBIZA? I’ve been going every year since 1996. And then, in the past six years, my relationship changed from being just a raver to having FUSE on the Island. A very different but altogether enjoyable experience.

WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR PASSION FOR MUSIC?

This was when I went to my first rave which was in Dreamscape in London in 1993. And I’ve been out nearly every weekend since then!

ANY GREAT DJS WHO HAVE INSPIRED YOU?

There are so many. Back in the early days it was people like DJ Randle. Then came Sasha. But more recently my main inspiration is my friends and residents at Fuse.

HOW DID THE COLLABORATION WITH ALEXKID FOR KILIMANJARO PROJECT START? Alex came to my studio

after a gig and I was playing him some music I was working on. I found out his first release on Laurent Garnier’s label F-com was a drum & bass record. We talked further, and decided to explore our mutual love for the genre and work on a techno/jungle hybrid.

FAVORITE CLUB?

For playing it has to be Village underground in London because we have worked hard on the system there and its perfectly set up for my sound. For partying it has to be Panoramabar.

El futuro es ahora. Estoy produciendo un EP intemporal, trabajando en dirección contraria al mercado de Beatport. Haré giras de promoción en 4 continentes pero he elijado Ibiza porque aquí encuentro marcas y personas importantes, así que desde Ibiza mi música podrá llegara al mundo.

QUÉ OPINAS DE N&D MAGAZINE? Me encanta N&D y para nosotros es uno de los medios de comunicación más interesantes de la isla. Además, me gusta mucho la app Proxee, que es una herramienta muy útil.

I'm from Italy, but I usually live in Europe and America.

I came to Ibiza when Privilege was called Ku. At that time it was possible to play with pool tables in Pacha. Many times I used to come to Ibiza because it is a such an inspiriting place to be. This year it is also the starting point for my projects.

Really different! In fact I'm a dj and a showman. My favorite music is uplifting trance but during my performances I play various genres and comes from the dancefloor in the moment I play.

I'm the music, where else I should end up?

Get a lot of useful contacts. As well as working with skilled people from many countries to get best results out of my creativity.

FUTURE PROJECTS?

Future is now, I'm producing with a large group of friends a timeless Ep, going against the flow of the 1 day tracks life of beatport market. Some promo tours are going to come up in 4 continents. I'm here now to meet the most important people, so my music will go all around the world.

Suele aparecer en portadas de Vogue, Vanity Fair o Playboy, pero pocas veces en una actuación en directo como las que ha realizado para Cointreau, Martini, Victoria’s Secret o Louis Vuitton. La edición piloto del Bloop Festival en 2011 creó un impacto fuerte y positivo en la isla que generó repercusiones mediáticas por todo el mundo. Ha seguido creciendo desde entonces. Una carrera larga en la industria de la musica, eligiendo encargos heterogeneos. ¿Como ha nacido tu interés por el mundo de la musica electronica? La primera vez que tuve contacto con la música electrónica fue en el Love Parade en el año 2000. Cuando vi 1,5 millones de personas juntas por la música electrónica, pensé que me quería dedicar a esto y crear ese tipo de eventos. Para mi Love Parade era una celebración de paz, amor y buen rollo y por eso me encantan eventos como Burning Man o Glastonbury. Porque van más allá de la fiesta y tienen un trasfondo social muy positivo. Háblanos de tu proyecto Bridges for Music. Bridges for Music es una

organización sin ánimo de lucro que pretende servir como plataforma para la industria de la música electrónica para que artistas, marcas, festivales y clubs puedan generar un impacto positivo en el mundo. Creemos que nuestra "comunidad" tiene una gran oportunidad para cambiar el mundo a mejor y Bridges for Music puede ser un vehículo para ello. Estamos trabajando en zonas en vías de desarrollo, realizando escuelas de música, conciertos y apoyando causas que merecen ayuda. La música electrónica ha llegado a muchos rincones que ni imaginábamos hace unos años, como Kenya, Angola u otros por descubrir. Pensamos que es una oportunidad única de usar el poder de la música para generar un cambio positivo en esas zonas. En Sudáfrica, durante el concierto que hicimos con Richie Hawtin en uno de los townships (barrios marginales) a las afueras de Johannesburgo vimos como la música podía reducir diferencias

sociales y juntar gente de la ciudad con gente de esas comunidades. ¿Dónde ha nacido tu conciencia de Responsabilidad Social (en música) y cómo ha empezado la colaboración con Richie Hawtin para Bridges for Music? Bueno, supongo que trabajar en Ibiza de alguna manera me hizo entender la magnitud de este sector. Pensé que donde miles de personas se juntan alrededor de una misma pasión, hay una gran oportunidad de hacer grandes cosas más allá de la fiesta. Los Djs se han convertido en los nuevos rockstars con un montón de seguidores online y eso les da una oportunidad y responsabilidad de dar ejemplo y hacer de este mundo un mundo mejor. Mi relación con Rich venía de años atrás, habíamos desarrollado una buena relación y cuando le comentamos el proyecto por primera vez enseguida nos dijo que quería venir con nosotros a Sudáfrica.

¿Cuáles son tus esperanzas y expectativas para este gran proyecto? Seguir expandiendo la pasión por la música electrónica, desarrollar proyectos educacionales en nuevos países emergentes, crear oportunidades reales para gente en zonas desaventajadas, encontrar más apoyos en este sector y crear una comunidad de gente apasionada por la música electrónica y por ayudar a los demás. Me encantaría también tener un equipo más grande de gente para poder trabajar con toda la gente que nos está contactando. Al final creo que eso es lo mejor que podemos hacer. ¿Qué opinas de N&D Magazine? Siempre la leía cuando estaba en Ibiza...sobre todo porque érais competencia de la revista que hacíamos en Amnesia.

Age? 33 A long career in the music industry, choosing heterogenic jobs. How did your interest for electronic music start? My first contact with electronic music was at the Love Parade in 2000. When I saw 1.5 million people together thanks to electronic music, I decided I wanted to dedicate my life to that and to creating that kind of events. For me Love Parade was a celebration of peace, love and good vibes and it is the reason I like events like Burning Man or Glastonbury. Because they go further than the party and they have a very positive social impact. Tell us about your project Bridges for Music. Bridges for Music is a non-profit organization, a platform for the electronic music industry where artists, brands, festivals and clubs can generate positive impact on the world. We believe our “community” has the chance to change the world for the better and Bridges for Music can be a vehicle for it. We are working in difficult areas developing music schools, concerts and supporting other causes we believe are worth the support. Electronic music has reached many places we never would have imagined years ago, like Kenya, Angola or other undiscovered places. We think it is a unique opportunity to use the

power of music to generate positive changes. In South, during the concert that we gave with Richie Hawtin in one of the townships outside Johannesburg, we saw how music could reduce social differences and unite people from better parts of the city with these communities.

I always read it when I was in Ibiza... especially because you were the competition to the magazine we made at Amnesia.

Where was your conscience for Social Responsibility (in music) born from and how did your collaboration with Richie Hawtin for Bridges for Music begin? Well, I suppose that working in Ibiza made me understand the magnitude of this sector. I thought that where thousands of people join around one same passion, there has to be a great opportunity to do bigger things through parties. Djs are the new rockstars with loads of followers online and that gives them the chance and responsibility to give example and to make this world a better one. My relationship with Rich is an old one, we had developed a good relationship and when we mentioned the project for the first time he immediately told us he wanted to come with us to South Africa. Which are your hopes and expectations for this big project? To keep expanding the passion for electronic music, to develop teaching projects in emerging countries, to give real opportunities to people in these disadvantaged areas, to

¡Los años 60 están de moda nuevamente! Vestidos rectos y estampas de la época son algunos de los estilos que volvemos a ver cada vez más a menudo por las calles. La moda “Mod” nacida en Londres a inicio de los '60, que en un pricipio giraba en torno de las estampas geométricas y osadas, actualmente llega con piezas lisas y cada vez menos estampadas. Lo que no impide que logremos el “look mod” que todos amamos, hay muchas opciones. El evento se realizará a final de agosto en el restaurante de Cipriani, Downtown Ibiza y en Formentera en el restaurante Rigatoni Beach Club el día 24 agosto. La noche será presentada de el personaje televisivo, radiofónico y Dj de el party de éxito “Mamacita”, Andrea Pellizzari. Durante la cena el público invitado disfrutará de espectáculos musicales, comedias y de moda, que acompañarán a la entrega de premios de las categorías correspondientes. La Final será presentada por dos personas: un profesional del mundo del espectáculo y uno de los organizadores del equipo N&D. Cada premio será entregado por personas de la isla relacionadas con la categoría premiada. Los dos premios que cerrarán el evento serán los premios N&D, votados por los lectores de Night&Day y el premio a la Carrera, entregado a un personaje de Ibiza o Formentera, donde se valorarán sus meritos profesionales o artísticos. La entrega de este último será conferida por una autoridad pública.

Voting – N&D´s readers can vote for their favorite local personalities through the new website. There are 150 locations which join the innovative Proxee system through our partners: Ibiza Global Radio (www.ibizaglobalradio. com), TEF (www.teftv.com) and weekly the Prensa Pitiusa. When you vote, you are entered into a weekly raffle with several prizes. The weekly winners will then be entered into another raffle for the Gala night, where they have the chance to win the “reader of the year” Award and a grand prize of a free week in an island’s resort.

The jury – composed of the best national and international professionals, institutional figures and local media.

Award nomination – N&D together with the jury, will nominate the finalists in each category, and will choose the winner for the Gala night.

Nineteen events – During the summer season in Ibiza and Formentera, we will organize promotional events to help us choose the finalists for each category.

The final – There will be a dinner party for the final, with several shows and performances. In Ibiza the celebrations will be held at Cipriani’s restaurant, Downtown Ibiza at the end of August and in Formentera at Rigatoni Beach Club at 24th August. The night will be presented by a personality of the italian tv and radio scene as well as dj of successful party “Mamacita”, Andrea Pellizzari.

Cuándo tenía 13 años me suspendieron y como castigo tuve que ir a trabajar a un albergue durante la temporada de verano. Allí, otro chico que trabajaba conmigo pinchaba con vinilos y me contagió la pasión.

He tenído un bar en Formentera y los míticos Thomas y Christian han venido a preguntarme sí quería anunciarme... luego nos hemos hecho amigos.

Ibiza, porque es una isla mágica... tiene todo lo que se puede pedir.

HOW DID YOU START? When I was 13 I didn't pass my exams and as a punishment I was sent to work in a hotel for the Summer season. There, another kid that worked with me played vinyls and trasmitted his passion to me.

I've had a bar in Formentera and the mythic Thomas and Christian came to ask me if I wanted to advertise... after that we became friends!

Finish my tech-house EP, to work a lot, and... I hope to play so much!

Actualmente estamos en la isla con 2 negocios, en la Calle de la Virgen n50 y en S. Antonio en el edificio Tanit.

HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHERE WE CAN FIND IT?

The shops "SEX IS NOW” allow maximum privacy for the customer. To enter, you just need just to put any chip card in the reader at the entrance. Once inside the shop, the door will close and nobody will be able to enter until that person is not leaving the shop. Once that person has left, the store become available for the next customer. We are present on the island with 2 stores, at Calle de la Virgen No. 50 and at S. Antonio area inside Tanit building.

Jonathan es conocido por sus esculturas de bronce, generalmente mujeres, desde el inicio de su carrera le ha inspirado la belleza de la forma humana. Aún habiendo celebrado su primera exhibición “One man show” en su ciudad natal, Salisbury cuando tenía 16 años – con Sir Cecil Beaton como padrón – hasta los 32 años el arte no se convirtió en su vida. Dejó su ciudad con Heather, su primera mujer y ahora agente, cuándo tenían los dos 16 y pasaron dos años en una caravana.

Mientras Jonathan trabajaba en una granja como limpia alfombras y apunto de entrar en bancarrota, se dió cuenta de que la escultura sería el billete para su futuro. Anton Bilton, su viejo amigo y espónsor, compró una galería en la calle Motcomb, Belgravia y le sugirió a Wylder de usarla. Fue tanto su arranque y su pan de cada día, aunque sólo para empezar. Tener la galería “en realidad fue genial, aunque dificil al principio”, dijo Jonathan. Ahora vive y trabaja desde

su estudio en Nettlebed, pero también desde un estudio en Tailandia durante cuatro meses cada año. Casi toda su familia vive en Henley, donde se asentó hace 20 años. Su familia le proporciona mucha alegría, pero también su trabajo, y le inundan de comisiones y peticiones – tanto que un cliente tuvo que esperar siete años para adquirir su escultura.
