Where are you originally from? Solihull, a small town near Birmingham in the UK. Connection with Ibiza I’ve been coming here since I was 18, which was in 1990. I’ve been every year since and started DJing here in 1995 when I was 21. I have played every club on the island and held a residency at Space for a massive 12 years. Now when I look back it feels like I’ve done many things in Ibiza and throughout my whole career. However my connection with this island goes way further than the clubs I’ve played at or the amount of years I’ve been visiting, my connection is with the spirit of this island and the amazing energy it radiates. I’ve lived here on and off over the years but now it’s my full time home, where I’ll raise my children and see out the rest of my years.

Do you remember the first time you played on the island? Yes, it was back in 1995 when I was asked to play at Cafe Mambo, which at that time was THE place to be for sunset and evening shenanigans. It was a great experience and one I’ll never forget.

In 2006 you created your own label VIVa Music. What kind of music do you produce? I like to think our label puts out quality dance floor NON-commercial house and techno. Some stuff is deeper than others and some stuff is more banging than others but we just put out music we love. All very much groove based house and techno, which is what you’ll find I play and programme as a DJ. Next releases on VIVa Music? Were coming up to our 100th release now on VIVa MUSiC. So we’ve decided to do an EP called Familia that will see one track from each of our artists including myself, Livio & Roby, Darius Syrossian, Anek, LEON, Detlef, Julian Perez, fASTER, and David Pher. This will be finished sometime soon with an end of year release.

You’ve played at Space Ibiza for 8 years and this year you’re back at Sankeys with your VIVa Warriors party.

Tell us about this night, what is the concept? Actually, I’ve been playing Space for 12 years with 10 of those being resident playing on the terrace every week. I wanted to do our own thing for many reasons and I wanted to go to a more underground club where myself and the artists we book can have more freedom to play exactly what they want to play. It’s all about the party again. Ibiza has been getting more

and more commercial over the last few years especially now with the explosion of the commercial scene, which I’m not against, it’s just not my taste and not something I support. I believe there needs to be integrity and artistic impression otherwise this whole scene will just die and be all about money. I am in this for music and that is my career path to be free to play the music I feel without expectations or driven by money. Going to a 2000 capacity underground club was the perfect time and decision for me.

Your highest goal as a DJ and producer My goal as a producer is one day to be involved in film where the art of making music can be truly expressed. I would like to eventually write the album that has been in my mind for many years. As a DJ I want to play my music to people who appreciate the music I play and feel the energy and time I put into what I do. Obviously I want to be successful, so I can always put back into the scene. My success over the years has allowed me to employ more people in the VIVa office and to support more newcomers, develop new ideas and push new things. Artist development is my way of giving back.

Your favourite club in the world My favourite gig has to be MOONPARK in Argentina. It’s not a club it’s a set up arena for 8000 people but with the feeling of an intimate gig because for whatever reason the Argentineans know how to party BIG TIME! The arena has a feeling of intimacy with a low ceiling so has to be my favourite gig of all time. As well Timewarp is a seriously incredible festival, not a club I know; but this has to be mentioned because it really is another level. There are SOO many amazing gigs and clubs out there…far too many to mention.

An artist you would like to work with and why Scott Walker is one artist that I hugely respect. He is a creative genius with an exceptional mind. He does things very differently and very out of the ordinary; something that really impresses me. Another would have to be Bjork for some of the same reasons as above.

Your future plans To very much focus my touring now on our VIVa Warriors brand. Support our network of artists. Complete my album, collaborate with interesting artists and live happily ever after with my wife and my child who is on the way.

¿De dónde eres? De Solihull, una pequeña ciudad cerca de Birmingham, en el Reino Unido.

Conexión con Ibiza. He estado viniendo aquí desde que tenía 18 años, en 1990. He venido todos los años desde entonces y empecé a pinchar aquí en 1995, cuando tenía 21 años. He tocado en todos los clubes de la isla y tuve una residencia en Space durante 12 años. Ahora, cuando miro hacia atrás, siento que he hecho muchas cosas en Ibiza y en toda mi carrera.

Sin embargo, mi relación con esta isla va mucho más allá de los clubes en los que he pinchado o de la cantidad de años que he estado viniendo: mi relación es con el espíritu de esta isla y la increíble energía que irradia. He residido aquí de vez en cuando durante estos años, pero ahora es mi hogar a tiempo completo, donde voy a criar a mis hijos y vivir el resto de mis años. ¿Recuerdas la primera vez que pinchaste en la isla? Sí, fue en 1995. Me pidieron pinchar en el Café Mambo, que en ese momento era EL lugar para hacer travesuras por la tarde y por la noche.

Fue una gran experiencia que nunca olvidaré.

En 2006 creaste tu propio sello discográfico, VIVa Music. ¿Qué tipo de música produces? Me gusta pensar que nuestra etiqueta saca house y techno de calidad NO comercial. Algunas cosas son más profundas que otras y algunas más potentes que otras, pero solo sacamos música que nos gusta. Todo house y techno muy groove, que es lo que pincho y programo como DJ. ¿Próximos lanzamientos de VIVa Music? Vamos a llegar a nuestro lanzamiento n.º 100 en VIVa Music. Por eso hemos decidido hacer un EP llamado Familia, que tendrá una pista de todos nuestros artistas, incluyéndome a mí mismo, Livio & Roby, Darius Syrossian, Anek, LEON, Detlef, Julian Perez, fASTER y David Pher. Lo acabaremos algún día de estos, pronto, y lo lanzaremos en fin de año.

Durante ocho años has pinchado en Space Ibiza y este año han vuelto a Sankeys con tu fiesta VIVA Warriors. Háblanos de esta noche: ¿cuál es el concepto? En realidad, pinché en Space durante 12 años, de los que 10 estuve como residente en la terraza todas las semanas. Por muchas razones quería hacer nuestra propia fiesta y quería hacerlo en un club más underground, donde yo y los artistas que propongo podamos ser más libres para pinchar exactamente lo que queremos. De nuevo, lo único que importa es la fiesta. En estos últimos años, Ibiza ha sido cada vez más comercial,

sobre todo ahora con la explosión de la escena comercial, de la que no estoy en contra, solo que no es lo que busco y apoyo. Creo que es necesario que haya integridad y expresión artística, si no toda la escena se muere y todo se basa en el dinero. Yo estoy en esto por la música y esta es mi carrera para tener la libertad para tocar la música que siento sin expectativas o influenciado por el dinero. Ir a un club underground con capacidad para dos mil personas era el momento perfecto y la decisión perfecta para mí.

Tu mayor objetivo como DJ y productor. Mi objetivo como productor es un día participar en una película donde se exprese de verdad el arte de hacer música. Me gustaría escribir finalmente el álbum que tengo en mente desde hace muchos años. Como DJ quiero pinchar mi música para la gente que aprecia la música que toco y siente su energía y el tiempo que le dedico a lo que hago. Lógicamente quiero tener éxito, así que siempre puedo volver a la escena. Mi éxito de estos años me ha permitido emplear a más gente en la oficina de VIVa y apoyar a más principiantes, desarrollar nuevas ideas y emprender cosas nuevas. El desarrollo del artista es mi manera de contribuir.

Tu club favorito en el mundo. Mi club favorito es Moonpark, en Argentina. No es un club, es un estadio para ocho mil personas, pero con la sensación de un concierto íntimo, ¡porque los argentinos saben cómo divertirse a lo grande! El estadio da una agradable sensación de intimidad por el techo bajo, así que es el concierto de mi vida. Además, Timewarp es una fiesta increíble, no un club, lo sé, pero hay que mencionarlo porque realmente es otro nivel. Hay tantos conciertos y clubes increíbles por ahí... demasiados para mencionarlos aquí.

Un artista con el que te gustaría trabajar y por qué. Scott Walker es un artista que respeto enormemente. Es un genio creativo con una mente excepcional. Hace las cosas de manera muy diferente y muy fuera de lo común, algo que me impresiona mucho. Otra tendría que ser Bjork para algunas de las mismas razones que las anteriores.

Tus planes para el futuro. Concentrarme mucho en mi gira ahora con nuestra marca VIVa Warriors. Apoyar nuestra red de artistas. Acabar mi álbum, colaborar con artistas interesantes y vivir felices para siempre con mi esposa y mi hijo que viene de camino.

Name tINI Where are you originally from? I was born and raised in Munich. A big part of my family still lives there.

Tell us about your connection with Space Ibiza. Space Ibiza was the first club to book me on the island 4 years ago. I played the opening set for Carl Cox on the terrace. I really like playing at that club! I played at the Space opening this season and I’ve also been playing for a few years at the main room for Carl Cox’s closing party together with Loco Dice. This year I also played 3 times on the terrace for Richie Hawtin’s ENTER. party.

Do you remember the first time you played in front of a huge audience? How did you feel?

How do you define “huge”? Well my first big club event was in Munich for my friends from “Friendly Feier” at “Penthaus”. It was a Carnival party and my name on the flyer on that occasion was: TINI TITAN; it felt amazing from day one. I knew from the beginning that this is something that I have to do! The rapport with the crowd still amazes me.

You have played at the biggest international festivals and parties, with the best DJs. Do you feel you have reached your highest goal?

I hope not! I think there is always more to discover, more to learn, and more to see and reach.

Recently I was thinking about how far I’ve come in the last 9 years of being a DJ and it feels very good because it shows that if you do something with passion and you put all your energy and love into it and never lose faith, you can make it this far. I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to travel the world and meet all these people and play for my idols from back in the day. Some of them have become good friends. I couldn’t ask for more.

The DJ you admire the most Loco Dice. I’ve known him for 10 years now and in a way I’ve been travelling the same path as him. It’s great to see how he grows and grows as an artist.

Your favourite club in the world FUSE LONDON at 93 Feet east... and Panoramabar of course.

Next releases I am working on a new release for Desolat, as well as a mini album for Rekids...and more!

How do you spend your days when you are not working? Spending time with the people I love!

Plans for 2013 My next step will be moving to New York City at the end of the summer season! So far I’m planning to go for a couple of months, get some inspiration, work on collaborations with friends from NYC and grow as an artist and a person.

Háblanos de tu relación con Space Ibiza. Space Ibiza fue el primer club que me llamó para pinchar en la isla hace 4 años. Pinché el set inicial de Carl Cox en la terraza. ¡Me gusta mucho pinchar en ese club! Toqué en la apertura de Space este año y desde hace unos años también pincho en la sala principal para la fiesta de cierre de Carl Cox, junto con Loco Dice. Este año, además, pinché tres veces en la terraza para la fiesta ENTER de Richie Hawtin. ¿Recuerdas la primera vez que pinchaste frente a un gran público? ¿Cómo te sentiste? ¿Qué entiendes por “grande”? Bueno, mi primer evento en un club grande fue en Munich para mis amigos de “Friendly Feier” en Penthaus. Fue una fiesta de carnaval y cuando vi mi nombre de la época, TINI TITAN, en el folleto, me emocioné mucho. ¡Sabía desde el principio que esto era algo que tenía que hacer! El intercambio con la gente todavía me asombra.

Has tocado en los mayores festivales y fiestas internacionales, con los mejores DJ. ¿Sientes que has alcanzado tu meta más alta? ¡Espero que no! Creo que siempre hay más por descubrir, aprender, ver y alcanzar.

Hace poco pensaba en lo lejos que llegué en los últimos nueve años como DJ y me gusta porque demuestra que si haces algo con pasión y le pones toda tu energía y amor y nunca pierdes la fe, puedes llegar lejos. Me siento afortunada por la posibilidad de viajar por el mundo, conocer mucha gente y pinchar con mis ídolos de hace años. Algunos de ellos se convirtieron en buenos amigos, no podría pedir más.

El DJ que más admiras. Loco Dice. Lo conozco desde hace diez años y, de alguna manera, estoy con él en este camino. Es genial ver cómo crece, también como artista.

Próximos lanzamientos. Estoy trabajando en una nueva publicación para Desolat, también en un miniálbum para Rekids... ¡y más cosas! ¿Qué haces en tus días libres cuando no estás trabajando? ¡Pasar tiempo con la gente que quiero!

Los planes para 2013. Mi siguiente paso será trasladarme a Nueva York al final de la temporada de verano. Hasta ahora tenía planeado ir durante un par de meses, coger inspiración, trabajar en colaboraciones con amigos de Nueva York y crecer como artista y como persona.

Name Alessandro Montatore Where are you originally from? From Italy Why are you moving to Ibiza? Ibiza for me is music, energy, love and happiness. It is a beautiful island with great people and amazing parties. That’s why I wanted to be here.

Do you believe in the power of Ibiza? I believe that the energy of the people that live on and visit the island gives the places power.

Where does your inspiration come from? Many sources of inspiration led me to produce my music.

Sometimes sounds you would hear on the radio, listening to different styles of music and also after a great gig when you have felt the energy of people and of course the smell of a beautiful woman or the sound of the waves, anything exciting could inspire me.

Plans for 2013? I’m going to continue working hard, getting bookings, producing new vinyl releases for German labels and other labels and doing what I most like to do, which is making people feel the dance floor in a way they have never felt it before.

What is the limit of your dreams? I like to say there are no limits to my dreams, this would stop me reaching goals. I think if you have a limit, that makes you give up, and I don’t want that.

Who and where will you be you in 10 years?

Essentially the same person but I would like to be in different places showing my music to different crowds, learning from different cultures and meeting people around the world.

que pertenece a los lugares viene de la energía de la gente que vive y visita la isla. ¿De dónde sacas la inspiración? Muchas fuentes me inspiran a producir mi música. A veces lo que se oye en la radio, escucho diferentes estilos de música y también después de un gran concierto cuando siento la energía de la gente. Por supuesto, el olor de una mujer bonita o el sonido de las olas, cualquier cosa emocionante puede inspirarme. ¿Planes para 2013? Voy a seguir trabajando duro para conseguir bolos, producir nuevos vinilos para etiquetas alemanas y otras, y hacer lo que más me gusta, es decir, que la gente sienta la pista de baile como nunca antes. ¿Cuál es el límite de tus sueños? Me gusta decir que no tengo límites, porque esto me impediría alcanzar mis objetivos. Creo que si tienes un límite, esto hace que lo dejes, y no es lo que quiero. ¿Quién serás y dónde estarás en 10 años?

Esencialmente la misma persona, pero me gustaría mostrar mi música en lugares diferentes y a diferentes multitudes, aprender de las diferentes culturas y conocer gente alrededor del mundo.

There can be no doubt that the season that is drawing to a close will long remain in the memory due to the success of the new party Music On with Marco Carola every Friday at Amnesia. Part of this success is down to the PR team led by Davide Avallone.

Name Davide Avallone Where are you originally from? Naples, Italy.

Relationship with Ibiza I’ve been living here for a few years, I love this island - it’s my home. In summer it’s a battlefield and professionally one of the most desired stages for those who do my job.

This gives me a really positive vibe and makes me grow as a person. In winter it’s a peaceful oasis where you can meet yourself again and enjoy the simple things that in summer unfortunately we don’t notice...

What is your role within Music On? I’m the head of PR. I coordinate and share the same working routine with an extraordinary talented group of professionals and a great bunch of people.

What differentiates the promotion of Music On from other parties? We are a group that spends a lot of time together and you can see us everywhere. Each of us has different characteristics, but we all have the same passion for music and that is the essential ingredient for this event. We are proud to work for an artist like Marco Carola and for an important and established management team, consisting of Luca Piccolo, Roberto Postiglione (my uncle) and Ernesto Senatore, who are great role models for us to follow.

I am flattered by the high degree of responsibility they have given me, and I want to take this opportunity to thank them publically, along with my group: Salva, Marco, Andrey, Annapaola, Dina, Alejandra, Elisa, Noelia, Theresa, Arie, Tsinami and Victoria. Without them, my work would not be the same...

Music On also has other characters that make this event stronger: the energy in the booth and Lucky’s full support, the security at the entrance of Amnesia from Pamela and Chiara, Angelo’s constant presence inside and outside the office, the organization and meticulous attention to detail in presales by Fabio and Gilberto, Salvy and his group of dancers coordinated by Carolina, Nicolas’ performance group, and all our friends, too many to mention but always with us… A BIG FAMILY. Will Music On feature in other countries during the winter? The Music On world tour begins in New York on October 31st, for Halloween. Other dates will be announced soon.

Relación con Ibiza. Vivo aquí desde hace algunos años, adoro esta isla, es mi casa. En verano es un campo de batalla y profesionalmente uno de los escenarios más deseados para los que hacen mi trabajo. Esto me llena de positividad y me hace crecer como persona. En verano es un oasis de paz donde puedes volver a encontrarte y disfrutar de las cosas sencillas que desafortunadamente en verano no percibimos... ¿Cuál es tu papel en Music On? Soy el jefe de RR. PP. Coordino y comparto la misma rutina de trabajo que un grupo extraordinario de personas que tienen unos grandes valores humanos y profesionales. ¿Qué diferencia la promoción de la fiesta Music On de las otras? Somos un grupo que pasa muchas horas junto y puedes vernos en cualquier lado. Cada uno de nosotros tiene características distintas, pero todos tenemos la misma pasión por la música, que es el ingrediente básico e inigualable de este evento. Nos llena de orgullo trabajar para un artista como Marco Carola y para un management importante y consolidado, formado por Luca Piccolo, Roberto Postiglione (mi tío) y Ernesto Senatore, que para nosotros son ejemplos a imitar.

Hope you’re having a good summer, those of you who are working and those who are on holiday.

It’s been a very hot summer and it’s not been easy for many people, but here’s the best part: August is over and as you know in September everything is a bit more relaxed and we can also enjoy our beloved island’s charms and delights that little bit more.

At Pelo Loco we are having fun creating new customized looks, letting you know how to improve your hair’s health, pampering you with massages and treatments to the sound of chillout music, offering a snack in our corner bar which is always well stocked with delicacies that I personally import from my home region in Italy.

I want to take this opportunity to announce that soon - hopefully by the end of September -, I’ll be opening a new import shop with typical products from the Italian region I come from, the Marches. People, we enter this world to enjoy ourselves. Fun and success in life aren’t dependent on how much money we have or our social status. It depends entirely on how free we allow ourselves to be. Many people believe they will live for 400 years and don’t make the most of the few years they actually live. A long time ago I decided that I’ll party for the years I live, not in the strict sense of the phrase, but keeping things clear that nothing and no one would stop me from doing the things that make me happy. I draw a straight line between points A and B and I follow it. Between those two points there are things that I like and make me happy, my freedom. Having time and being able to handle it, savouring the little things in life that are usually free - you don’t need much to do this. I don’t expect anything from anyone and that way no one lets me down. To help friends or even people I don’t know the best I can. To give without expecting anything in return.

Life is too short, but can be very long depending on our mistakes. We must make mistakes to learn, but getting things badly wrong on a regular basis takes away your freedom and makes you a slave.

My friend Francesc, for whom life has become very short, at a party in the wee hours of the morning when we were the only ones still going, told me: “Max, whenever we go partying together, we are always the last to leave, do you know why? Because we are free.”

Señores, a este mundo se viene a disfrutar. El pasarlo bien y tener éxito en la vida no depende del dinero ni de nuestra posición social. Depende totalmente de la libertad que conseguimos mantener. Muchos creen que van a vivir 400 años y se empeñan en malgastar los pocos que viven. Yo hace mucho decidí que los años que viviera me los iba a pasar de fiesta, no en el estricto sentido de la frase, pero sí teniendo claro que nada ni nadie me saca de mi rumbo ni de lo que me hace feliz. Yo trazo una línea recta entre los puntos A - B y no me salgo de ella. Entre esos puntos están solo las cosas que más me gustan y me hacen feliz, mi libertad. El tener tiempo y manejarlo, saborear las pequeñas cosas y detalles de la vida que normalmente son gratis, el necesitar poco, no esperar nada de nadie así nadie me defrauda. Ayudar en medida de mis posibilidades a personas amigas o que incluso que no conozco. Dar sin esperar nada a cambio.

La vida es muy corta, pero puede resultarnos muy larga dependiendo de nuestras equivocaciones.

Debemos equivocarnos para aprender, pero equivocarte mucho y mal te quita toda la libertad y te convierte en un esclavo. Mi amigo Francesc, al que la vida se le ha hecho muy corta, un día de fiesta a altas horas de la mañana cuando solo quedábamos él y yo me dijo: “Max siempre que vamos a una fiesta juntos acabamos tú y yo los últimos, ¿sabes por qué? Porque tenemos libertad”.

Name Kenny Dope Where are you originally from? I’m Puerto Rican but I was born in NY, grown up in Brooklyn. My parents were born in Puerto Rico.

Where do you currently live? In New Jersey.

Do you remember the first time you played in Ibiza? I try to remember... I did a lot of Defected parties for many years... I haven’t been in Ibiza for 2 years.

How is your relationship with Carl Cox? Honestly I don’t really know Carl Cox very well, we have moved a lot in the same circles. Obviously he is an influence because of what he has done for the music. I will play with him for the first time at his 50th birthday party at Space.

Now that your solo career has taken off, how do you see the future of MaW? We have done separate projects, we have a brand and a lot of things have changed now musically.

We have worked for ten years straight from 1990 to 2000; we made a lot of remixes and albums and now we have been in the studio working on new tracks. Now we are gonna just get back together.

Tell us about your next release. Once we come back from Ibiza we’re gonna be back in the studio, so hopefully November-December there will be some stuff coming out.

You’ve done a lot of remixes, which is the one you like the most? I have to like the track to do the remix so it’s hard to pick one, so many records, so many songs... The last remix I did for Joi Cardwell on Nervous Records. But the last solo record that I did, and that a lot of people liked, was called ‘Be your freak’ feat. Josh Milan.

Hace dos años que no vengo a Ibiza. ¿Cómo es tu relación con Carl Cox? Sinceramente no conozco muy bien Carl Cox, hemos coincidido muchas veces en los mismos círculos. Obviamente, es una gran influencia por todo lo que ha hecho por la música. Voy a pinchar con él por primera vez en su 50.ª fiesta de cumpleaños en Space.

Ahora que tu carrera en solitario ha despegado, ¿cómo ves el futuro de Masters at Work? Hemos realizado proyectos independientes, tenemos una marca y un montón de cosas han cambiado musicalmente.

Hemos trabajado durante diez años consecutivos desde 1990 hasta 2000, hemos hecho muchos remixes y álbumes, y ahora hemos estado en el estudio trabajando en nuevas canciones. Ahora simplemente vamos a volver a estar juntos.

Háblanos de tus próximos lanzamientos. Una vez que regresemos de Ibiza vamos a estar de vuelta en el estudio, así que espero que para noviembre-diciembre salga algo.

Has hecho un montón de remixes, ¿cuál es el que más te gusta? Me tiene que gustar mucho una pista para hacer el remix, así que es difícil elegir uno, he hecho tantos discos, tantas canciones... El último remix que hice fue para Joi Cardwell en Nervous Records. Sin embargo, el último disco en solitario que hice, y que a mucha gente le gustó, se llama ‘Be your freak’ feat. Josh Milan.

BYE BYE SUMMER! Summer is coming to an end but we must take care of ourselves. Good health requires natural instinct.

Health problems begin when we doubt our body’s ability to choose what’s best for it. If we resist our body’s basic instincts, the mind begins to look for substitutes, and this creates cravings or addictions to certain foods. Cravings come from cellular starvation, lack of nutrients in our body, and if our stomach is really hungry, we should ask what it really wants to eat. The nutritional needs of our body vary from day to day depending on the changes that occur in a close or distant environment. Solar storms, climate and seasonal changes or the passage of the moon for a particular zodiac sign have a direct influence because our body is energy. A rigid diet would not be the answer to the body’s daily needs, and additionally it would block the messages it sends us.

Hippocrates, the first doctor, said food is the best medicine for men. Food can nourish and build healthy bodies, but it can also cure them when they are sick.

Food, by colour and energy, feed different parts of our body and affect the energy system. These are called chakras in Eastern philosophy. The 1st chakra - belonging to the adrenal gland - is nourished by proteins and meats. The 2nd chakra, for kidneys and reproductive apparatus, is fed with liquid, above all water. The 3rd chakra, of the solar plexus, is nourished with cereals and citrus fruits. The 4th chakra, of the heart, is nourished by food that is fed by solar energy, such as vegetables. The 5th chakra, the chakra for communication, is nourished with fresh fruit. And finally the 6th and 7th chakras belong to light and thought, and are nourished through fasting, contemplation and meditation.

¡ADIÓS, VERANO! Se acaba el verano, pero no por eso debemos dejar de cuidarnos. La buena salud requiere un instinto natural. Los problemas de salud empiezan cuando dudamos de la capacidad de nuestro cuerpo para escoger lo que le conviene. Si damos la espalda a nuestros instintos básicos del cuerpo, la mente empieza a buscar sustitutos: esto genera antojos o adicciones a ciertos alimentos. Los antojos provienen del hambre celular, de la falta de nutrientes de nuestro cuerpo y, si realmente nuestro estómago tiene hambre, deberíamos preguntarle qué es lo que realmente le gustaría comer. Las necesidades nutricionales de nuestro cuerpo varían de un día para otro en función de los cambios que ocurren en un entorno inmediato o lejano. Las tormentas solares, los cambios climáticos y de

estación o el paso de la Luna por un signo zodiacal concreto nos influyen directamente, porque nuestro cuerpo es energía. Una dieta estricta no respondería pues a las necesidades diarias del cuerpo, sino que además bloquearía los mensajes que este nos envía.

El primer médico, Hipócrates, ya afirmó en su momento que los alimentos son la mejor medicina del ser humano. El alimento puede nutrir y formar

cuerpos sanos, pero también puede curarlos cuando están enfermos.

Los alimentos, según su color y su energía, alimentan diferentes partes de nuestro organismo e influyen en el sistema energético, en los chakras, tal como los denomina la filosofía oriental. El 1.º chakra, el de las glándulas suprarrenales, se nutre con las proteínas y la carne. El 2. chakra, los riñones y el aparato reproductor, se nutre con los líquidos, el Agua como base. El 3.º chakra, el del plexo solar, se nutre con los cereales y los cítricos. El 4.º chakra, el chakra del corazón, se nutre con alimentos que se provienen de la energía solar como los vegetales. El 5.º chakra, el chakra de la comunicación se nutre con la fruta fresca. Y para terminar, el 6.º y 7.º chakras, parten de la luz y el pensamiento, y se nutren a través del ayuno, la contemplación y la meditación.

Name Darius Syrossian Where are you originally from? I was born in Iran and grew up there, but when I was 13 I moved to the UK where I am now based.

How did you start DJing? I got my decks in 1994, I had a go on my friends and I was hooked. Anyway within a year I was working in a vinyl record shop called Global beat, which was one of the leading vinyl outlets in the UK. This was way before the age of cdj’s or digital downloads.

How would you define your music? House music, with a strong emphasis on bass, drums, snares, and groove, also energy, but it all has to have an element of depth and have a deep vibe.

You have a residency at Sankeys Ibiza. Tell us about this 2012 season. My residency at Sankeys Ibiza for VIVa Warriors every Wednesday alongside Steve Lawler has been fantastic… packed every week, quality crowd, and proper underground vibe.

Your next releases I just had my remix for DJ Sneak’s Magnetic label drop. I also have my remix of Freaks forthcoming on Hot Creations. I have a track a lot of people have been messaging me about called ‘10 miles from lima’ on a German label klangkultur and also my EP on OFF recordings from Berlin called ‘Metal’.

Future plans Once my Ibiza residency finishes I have an extensive touring schedule around Europe including Watergate in Berlin. I’m always returning to the studio and I’m going to do another collaboration with Steve Lawler. I’m also going to the States for a few gigs, so I have quite a lot on.

enganché. Durante un año trabajé en una tienda de vinilos llamada Global beat, que era una de las mejores en Gran Bretaña. Esto fue mucho antes de la época de los cdj y las descargas digitales. ¿Cómo definirías tu música? House, con un gran énfasis en los bajos, batería, tambores, groove y energía, pero todo con un elemento de profundidad.

Eres residente en Sankeys Ibiza. Cuéntanos algo sobre esta temporada 2012. Mi residencia en Sankeys Ibiza para VIVa Warriors cada miércoles junto a Steve Lawler ha sido fantástica… Lleno cada semana, gente de calidad y un verdadero ambiente underground.

Tus próximas publicaciones. Acabo de sacar un remix para la etiqueta de DJ Sneak, Magnetic y otro de Freaks que saldrá en Hot Creations. What’s your job? I’ve just opened a bar in the Ibiza port area: Bon Vivant Cafe.

Describe Bon Vivant Cafe. It’s a new concept where we want every client to be our friend, and every friend our client.

What can we find at Bon Vivant? You can have breakfast here admiring the view of the Ibiza port area and Dalt Villa, have lunch every day with seasonal organic products, and end the day with an aperitif during happy hour.

Your favourite party in Ibiza? The one I organize with my friends. Talking about clubs, Music On by Marco Carola every Friday at Amnesia.

When is your next party? Every year I celebrate my birthday with a friend. I’ll see you at my birthday party at the end of September.

Your favourite place on the island? I don’t have a favourite place but every summer I love going to Atlantis, jumping into the water from a rock at Cala Salada and watching at the sunset from Cala Conta.

Tell us your plans for the future. To open more Bon Vivant Cafes in the near future.

What do you think of Night&Day Magazine? After 6 years, N&D is an important reference for the island and I congratulate you because every year you offer greater quality, as we can see on the covers with the best DJs like Richie Hatwin, Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Marco Carola.

Descríbenos el Bon Vivant Cafe. Es un nuevo concepto de local donde queremos que todos los cliente sean amigos y los amigos, clientes. ¿Qué se puede encontrar en Bon Vivant? Aquí podéis desayunar mirando el puerto de Ibiza y Dalt Villa.

Comer todos los días productos orgánicos y de temporada, y terminar el día con un cóctel aperitivo en un happy hour.

Tu fiesta favorita en Ibiza. La que organizamos juntos con mis amigos. Si hablamos de club, Music On de Marco Carola los viernes en Amnesia. ¿Cuándo será la próxima fiesta que organizarás?

Cada año celebro mi cumpleaños junto con un amigo. Os espero en mi fiesta de cumpleaños a finales de septiembre.

Tu lugar favorito de la isla. No tengo un sitio preferido, pero me encanta ir cada temporada a Atlantis, tirarme al agua desde una roca de Cala Salada y mirar el atardecer desde Cala Compte.

Cuéntanos tus planes para el futuro. Abrir pronto otros Bon Vivant Café. ¿Qué opinas de Night&Day Magazine? Pienso que después de 6 años N&D es una referencia importante de la isla y os felicito porque cada años subís la calidad, como demuestran las portadas con los mejores DJ como Richie Hatwin, Sven Väth, Carl Cox y Marco Carola.

Jérôme Ferrière is a French photographer living in Ibiza. He has worked as a professional photographer for the past 20 years specialising in portraiture, reporting, advertising and fashion. He started his career in France in 1990. After travelling around the world he has devoted himself to a photographic study of the international community in Ibiza.

His passion is portraiture, where his focus is to capture the real essence of his subjects’ personality.

In 2000 he published the book “Les Bordelaises”, a collection of portraits of women from Bordeaux.

Beyond the faces of these women, his photographs are an ethnological study of this society. “Ibiza Portraits” is a collection of photographs taken on the island between 1997 and 2012.

Jérôme Ferrière es un fotógrafo francés que vive en Ibiza. Trabaja desde hace veinte años como fotógrafo profesional especializado en retrato, reportaje, publicidad y moda. Comenzó su carrera en Francia en 1990. Después de viajar por todo el mundo, se ha dedicado a realizar un estudio fotográfico sobre la comunidad internacional de la isla de Ibiza.

Su pasión es el retrato, donde su objetivo es capturar la verdadera esencia de la personalidad de los sujetos fotografiados.

En el 2000 publicó el libro “Les Bordelaises”, una colección de retratos de mujeres de Burdeos.

Más allá de los rostros de estas mujeres, sus fotografías son un estudio etnológico de esta sociedad.

Where are you originally from? We are Belgian and moved to rural Ibiza with our 3 kids in 2009.

Connection with Ibiza Our first trip as a young, lovely couple was in 1995. We fell in love with the people and the mystic energy of the island. From that year, we came on different occasions to work, on holiday or to grow up with the kids.

When did you realise you wanted to be a photographer? As a little girl I wanted to be a DJ! My parents had a club for 2000 people. I grew up with party, music, and DJs. I started studying at the “Belgium national school of photography/film”, and at the age of 21 I opened my first photo studio by day. At night I worked as “partyphotographer” to escape from my busy daytime lifestyle.

During the summer you work taking photos at the best parties in Ibiza. What do you like the most about your job? As party photographer I try to catch special moments, I call them “musical orgasms”.

Tell us about the party you are organizing. What’s the concept and what do you want to convey with it? To prepare a party was a dream on my list of “things to do in Ibiza”! Over the last 18 years I saw a lot of parties, so I began collecting ideas, info, inspiration. One day, I wrote to a good friend to explain my idea. He believed in me, my creativity, the concept. The party is private (Villa Whitecaps) by guest list/presale, limited (200 people), black dress.

Your future plans My life slogan: “LIVE the MOMENT”!

Nombres Rüt Huyzentruyt (fotógrafa/diseñadora) y Dieter Douterloigne (diseñador). ¿De dónde sois? Somos belgas y en 2009 nos mudamos a la Ibiza rural con nuestros tres hijos.

Conexión con Ibiza. Hicimos nuestro primer viaje como joven pareja enamorada en 1995. Nos enamoramos de la gente y la energía mística de la isla. A partir de ese año vinimos varias veces para trabajar, de vacaciones y para ver crecer a nuestros hijos. ¿Cuándo te diste cuenta de que querías ser fotógrafa? ¡De pequeña quería ser DJ! Mis padres tenían un club para 2000 personas. Crecí con fiestas, música y DJ. Luego estudié en la “Belgium national school of photography/film” y a los 21 abrí mi primer estudio de fotografía, mientras que por la noche trabajaba como fotógrafa en fiestas para huir de mi rutina diurna.

En verano trabajas sacando fotos en las mejores fiestas de Ibiza. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de tu trabajo? Como fotógrafa en fiestas intento captar momentos especiales que llamo “orgasmos musicales”.

Cuéntanos sobre la fiesta que estáis organizando. ¡Preparar una fiesta era uno de mis sueños en la lista de “cosas que hacer en Ibiza”!

En los últimos dieciocho años he asistido a un montón de fiestas, así que empecé a recoger ideas, información, inspiraciones. Un día escribí a un buen amigo para explicarle la idea. Creyó en mí, en mi creatividad y en el concepto. La fiesta es privada (Villa Whitecaps) con guest list y preventa, está limitada (200 personas) y hay que vestirse de negro.

Planes de futuro. Mi eslogan de vida: ¡”Vive el momento”!

Name Alessandro, but when I’m playing I’m IDONTLIKE DJ. Where are you originally from? I’m Italian, but I feel Ibizean in my soul because over the last thirteen years I’ve spent long periods on the island and for the last four years I’ve been living here all year.

When did you start DJing? I started a year and a half ago.

I’ve been playing piano and guitar since I was young and after many years dancing on dance floors around the world, I decided to move to the other side of the booth.

How would you define your music? Funny, deep and underground. For a tune to make my playlist it must have these three requirements. I don’t like playing the same tunes the “celebrities” spin, and I try not to fall back on the “hit” of the moment.

The DJ you look up to. The DJ who has most influenced me and my teacher, is REMO, resident at Space and Kehakuma, one of the most avant-garde and underground DJs around. My colleagues at MICROCLUB -Daniele Aloi, Jessica Lopez and Papo- have also been extremely influential DJs who have helped me and continue helping me to improve on a daily basis.

Where can we see you playing this summer? I am part of the MICROCLUB group that puts on parties at the island’s most intimate and historical venues, such as Lolas, Bubbles and Grail. We’ll be also playing at LaSal, an historical beach bar in northern Barcelona. And there will be more surprises... we will announce all our parties on Facebook (MICROCLUB).

Plans for the future. Moving forward technically as a DJ, making MICROCLUB a top Ibizean party and buying a house in Ibiza to make sure I live here my whole life.

Nombre Alessandro, pero cuando pincho soy IDONTLIKE DJ. ¿De dónde eres? Soy italiano, pero me siento ibicenco en el alma, ya que hace trece años que paso largas temporadas en la isla y, desde hace cuatro, vivo aquí todo el año. ¿Cuándo empezaste a pinchar? Empecé hace un año y medio. Toco el piano y la guitarra desde niño y, después de años bailando en las pistas de todo el mundo, decidí pasarme al otro lado de la consola. ¿Cómo definirías tu música? Divertida, profunda y underground. Para que un tema entre en mi playlist tiene que tener estos tres requisitos. No me gusta pinchar los temas que pinchan “los famosos” e intento no caer nunca en el “hit” del momento.

Tu DJ de referencia. Mi DJ de referencia y maestro es REMO, residente de SPACE y KEHAKUMA, uno de los DJ más vanguardistas y underground. También lo son mis compañeros de MICROCLUB -Daniele Aloi, Jessica Lopez y Papo-, que me han ayudado y siguen ayudándome cada día a mejorar. ¿Dónde podemos verte pinchar este verano? Formo parte del grupo MICROCLUB que hace fiestas en los locales más íntimos e históricos de la isla, como el Lolas, el Bubbles y el Grial. Estaremos pinchando también en LaSal, un chiringuito histórico en el norte de Barcelona. Y habrá más sorpresas... en Facebook (MICROCLUB) anunciaremos todas nuestras fiestas.

Planes para el futuro. Seguir avanzando técnicamente como DJ, hacer de MICROCLUB una fiesta ibicenca de primera y comprarme casa en Ibiza para estar seguro de vivir aquí toda mi vida.

Name Basti Grub Where are you from? Frankfurt, Germany.

When did you start in the music business? I have been making music since I was 14, and I’ve been in the business since 2006.

You worked with Andres Zarzuela and Daria again.

They add to the special vibe of the album with their songs and voices. How did this come about and what does their support mean to you? For me it´s very important. Andres is a super friend of mine and we’ve been working together for quite some time now. I think he has a really beautiful voice and I really enjoy making music with him, even if it does not result in a track. With Daria I have another project in progress that has nothing to do with the club environment, it’s just that we really enjoy working together.

The album is released on your own imprint, Hoehenregler. What´s happening with this label? What can we expect in the near future? There will be quite a few really interesting releases, right now from my album, then some EPs by Felipe Venegas, Larry Peters and myself. Then I am planning to do a remix album most remixes are already finished -, and they’re from Butch, Martin Buttrich, Felipe Venegas, Tube&Berger and a few other surprise guests. I am also planning to do a remix contest! Keep your eyes peeled.

Which releases are also coming out in 2012? A VA on Digital Traffik, a VA on Resopal Red, a release on Hive Audio, a remix on Inmotion Music, a EP on Kina Music, my album and the remix album on my label are all coming out. I think that’s ok for this year!

Nombre. Basti Grub. ¿De dónde eres? De Frankfurt, Alemania. ¿Cuándo empezaste en el mundo de la música? Hago música desde que tenía 14 años y desde 2006 estoy en el business.

Una vez más has trabajado con Andrés Zarzuela y Daria, que añaden una atmósfera especial al álbum con sus canciones y voces. ¿Cómo se llegó a esto y qué significa su apoyo para ti? Para mí es muy importante. Andrés es un superamigo mío y trabajamos juntos desde hace bastante tiempo. Creo que tiene una voz hermosa y realmente disfruto haciendo música con él, incluso si no se traduce en una pista. Con Daria tengo otro proyecto en marcha que no tiene nada que ver con el mundo del clubbing. Nos gusta mucho trabajar juntos.

El álbum se lanza en tu propio sello, Hoehenregler. ¿Qué pasa en esta etiqueta, qué podemos esperar en el futuro cercano? Habrá bastantes publicaciones muy interesantes. Ahora mismo está mi álbum y algunos EPs de Felipe Venegas, Larry Peters y yo. Luego estoy pensando en hacer un álbum de remixes. La mayoría de remixes ya están terminados, son de Butch, Martin Buttrich, Felipe Venegas, Tube&Berger y otros huéspedes sorpresa. ¡También estoy planeando hacer un concurso de remixes! Mantén los ojos bien abiertos. ¿Qué más saldrá en 2012? Sale a la luz un VA en Digital Traffik, un VA en Resopal Red, uno en Hive Audio, un remix en Inmotion Musi, un EP en Kina Music, mi álbum y el álbum de remixes en mi sello. ¡Creo que está bien para este año!

EVENT BIGGER THAN EVER BEFORE EVENT MÁS GRANDE QUE NUNCA This year the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s biggest club festival and leading business platform, will be even bigger than previous years.

With the addition of up to 15 new venues, the brand new program ADE Playground, the addition of an extra festival day and a program with over 800 international artists, the ADE confirms its position as the figurehead of the Electronic Dance Music scene. The organization expects more than 6,000 conference and 200,000 festival visitors from around the world during the seventeenth edition of the five-day event, which takes place from 17 to 21 October.

The ADE is an ever-growing global platform for the dance scene. For visitors worldwide, the festival has become the place to spot developments in the dance scene: from the latest musical trends and emerging talents to the most recent work of the pioneers and superstars. At night, the capital of the Netherlands becomes the scene of the biggest club festival in the world, where at 65 locations and at least 350 different club nights visitors can dance to the most diverse electronic music of all the major names in the genre.

Summary of the 2012 season It’s started well since the beginning: we have DJed at Ushuaia at the Senses by Sexy’n Chic parties, then for Music On, the new party from Marco Carola at Amnesia and at all the afterparties, as well as traveling around Europe every week. I think the results are very pleasing.

Upcoming adventures My next adventure will be playing after the Lenny Kravitz concert in Moscow in September, and because I have a week there, I’ll visit the museums and art galleries!

Name DonDiegoDeejay Where are you originally from? Naples How did your adventure in Ibiza begin? I arrived 11 years ago and immediately started playing the drums at ElDivino, at the Salvacion parties.

Relationship with the island It’s an addiction: by the time May comes around I need it!

You have been a resident at the Pacha terrace for three years. How did this collaboration begin? Three years ago I started at the Funky Room and the following year I played at the Roof Terrace, where I got good vibes working alongside the other resident DJs. Apart from being a DJ, you also promote events. Tell us about Ibiza Tribe. Ibiza Tribe is a project that was born in 2009, and is based on sets, music and shows that are predominantly tribal house. Over the next two years it was held at the Space Sunset Terrace, and this year it has become the first electronic music festival on the beach in Ibiza, at Figueretes, on the night between 14th and 15th of August.

This year the big news is your Ibiza Connection radio program. Ibiza Connection wants to put RadioStudioPiù listeners in direct contact with the reality of Ibiza, talking about weekly events and the island’s natural and cultural resources. We interview residents and foreign DJs and producers, offer productions from the program’s guest DJs, and classics from the Defected night guests. All coming live from the Pacha terrace every Saturday and broadcast in most of Italy, Italian Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia and Greece.

Projects for next year I want to enhance the Ibiza Tribe festival and expand Ibiza Connection so we can broadcast in Ibiza, Formentera and on the Spanish mainland.

Nombre DonDiegoDeejay ¿De dónde eres? De Nápoles. ¿Cómo empezó tu aventura en Ibiza? Llegué hace 11 años y en seguida empecé a tocar las percusiones en el ElDivino, en las fiestas Salvacion.

Relación con la isla. De dependencia: ¡en mayo ya la necesito!

Desde hace tres años eres residente en la terraza de Pacha. ¿Cómo empezaste esta colaboración? Hace tres años en la Funky Room y el año siguiente toqué en la Roof Terrace, donde me encontré con un buen ambiente de colaboración con los otros DJ residentes.

Además de DJ, también haces promoción de eventos.

Háblanos de Ibiza Tribe. Ibiza Tribe es un proyecto nacido en 2009 que está basado en escenografías, espectáculos y música preferentemente tribal house. En los dos años siguientes se llevó a cabo en la Sunset Terrace de Space y este año se ha convertido en el primer festival de música electrónica de las playas de Ibiza, en Figueretes, la noche entre el 14 y el 15 de agosto.

La novedad de este año es el programa de radio Ibiza Connection. Ibiza Connection quiere poner en contacto directo a los oyentes de RadioStudioPiù con la realidad de Ibiza, hablando sobre los acontecimientos semanales y los recursos ecológicos y culturales de la isla. Entrevistamos a DJ y a productores residentes y extranjeros, proponemos las producciones de los DJ huéspedes del programa y los grandes clásicos de los guests de la noche Defected. Todo en directo desde la terraza de Pacha cada sábado y retransmitido en casi toda Italia, la Suiza italiana, Eslovenia, Croacia y Grecia.

Proyectos para el año que viene. Quiero hacer crecer aún más el festival Ibiza Tribe y expandir Ibiza Connection para que se retransmita en Ibiza, Formentera y en el resto de España.
