Estimado lector, Este número de Night&Day es el último de la temporada. El último acto antes de que podamos celebrar juntos nuestro décimo año con dos portadas de peso. La portada NIGHT acoge a la primera gran dama DJ de la temporada, Nicole Moudaber, que nos presenta sus nuevos proyectos y a quien hemos seguido este verano durante sus sesiones en el DC10 o en el Space, invitada por Carl Cox (histórica fue su actuación a dúo con Skin el 25 de agosto).
Dear Reader, This issue of Night&Day is the last one of the season. The last act before we can celebrate together our tenth year with two important covers. The NIGHT cover hosts the first great DJ lady of the season, Nicole Moudaber, presenting her new projects and whom we have followed this summer during her gigs at DC10 or at Space, invited by Carl Cox (her duet performance with Skin on 25th August was historic).

¿Cuándo decidiste convertirte en DJ y cómo conseguiste que se hiciera realidad?
Tuve una revelación en la pista de baile en The Tunnel en Nueva York, mientras Danny Tenaglia estaba tocando y, esa noche, realmente sentí que la música conectaba conmigo a un nivel más profundo. Tras esta experiencia me convertí en asistente a fiestas profesional. Perseguí la música por toda Nueva York y por Europa. Me sentía como si hubiera encontrado mi pasión y esto me condujo al sendero para convertir mi carrera en música. Empecé a “leer” música, analizando cada grabación y transición. Estuve promocionando fiestas antes de producir. Compré una casa en Ibiza hace 12 años, una pequeña finca en San José, quería un espacio más amplio así que me embarqué en una reforma gigantesca, la cual requirió que saliera de Londres y que me centrara en el proyecto. Me llevó dos años y medio llevarlo a cabo y, una vez completado, mi amor por la música era tan fuerte que quería volver a ella, pero no como promotora. Así que decidí hacer la música que amo. Me encerré en el estudio, sin esperar que saliera nada, hasta que un día me dijeron que Carl Cox estaba tocando mis producciones en sus shows de radio. Aprender a producir terminó de abrirme las puertas para dedicarme a esto a tiempo completo.
Estás pinchando en los mejores eventos y con los mejores artistas, ¿cómo te sientes respecto a esto? ¡Me siento genial! Incluso ahora todavía no me puedo creer haber conseguido transformar mi pasión en una carrera a tiempo completo. ¡Aún tengo miedo escénico a cada vez! El panorama está lleno de artistas inspiradores que se apoyan e impulsan musicalmente unos a otros y estoy muy agradecida de poder contar con muchos de ellos como amigos y como compañeros.
Hablemos de tu propio sello MOOD Records y de los artistas que has lanzado. ¿Sigue siendo una tarea de amor para ti y qué le depara el futuro a MOOD? 18
Hay tanto amor en el sello. Estoy disfrutando del hecho de poder ayudar a aumentar la conciencia y a compartir la impresionante música desde arriba y los nuevos artistas como Marino Canal, Wade, Trent Cantrell, PAWSA y por supuesto todos los consolidados como Joel Mull, Carlo Lio y Carl Cox ¡y yo misma! Mi último EP ‘Breed’ con Skin está en el sello también, sale el 18 de septiembre.
Tu EP BREED saldrá el próximo mes en Mood. ¿Cuándo conociste por primera vez a Skin de Skunk Anansie y cómo se traslada vuestra relación en el estudio?
Estábamos las dos viviendo en Ibiza, así que solíamos encontrarnos todo el tiempo. Pero no fue hasta que coincidimos en el aeropuerto y que compartimos un vuelo de Portugal a Londres cuando realmente hablamos. Nos entendimos tan bien que tuve que preguntarle si cantaría en uno de mis discos. ¡Fui tan feliz cuando me dijo que sí! Es una compositora fantástica, pero trabajar con voces completas realmente me sacó de mi zona de confort. Nunca lo había hecho antes y estaba decidida a hacerle justicia. Me llevó mucho tiempo, pero ahora estoy realmente contenta con los resultados ¡y estamos pensando firmemente en la 2ª parte para el próximo año!
Tras haber tocado en muchos grandes festivales por todo el mundo, ahora estás trabajando en tu propio festival, que tendrá lugar en Coney Island (Nueva York). ¿De dónde surgió la idea y cómo se organizará el evento? La idea surgió de Rob Fernández, el único promotor con el que he trabajado en Nueva York. Me contrató por primera vez en agosto de 2011 en Governors Island en Nueva York y, desde ese momento, se empezó a construir mi perfil en Estados Unidos. Falleció el mes pasado y todavía le guardo luto. Fue quien organizó este festival para mí, eligió una localización concreta y no estará allí para verlo. Será mi primer festival sin él en Nueva York, pero estoy dedicando ese día al completo para él, su empresa decidió continuar con este espectáculo a pesar de todo, porque él lo hubiera querido así.

¡Cualquier lugar con un conjunto de decks y un público ante quien pueda actuar! Por lo demás, para un poco de paz y tranquilidad, me gusta ir en mi barco hasta Formentera y pasar todo el día nadando y relajándome.

Es una organización de caridad que pretende ayudar a niñas y mujeres jóvenes a crecer en esta parte de Nueva York, que continua siendo una de las zonas más pobres de la ciudad. Ayudamos a proporcionar a estas chicas las herramientas y la actitud para conseguir todo lo que quieran conseguir. Fui al Lower East Side Girls Club por primera vez en junio y me quedé atónita. El edificio es un lugar de diseño artístico, está claro que los fundadores han hecho un trabajo increíble recogiendo fondos para ayudar a las chicas procedentes de familias con bajos ingresos, chicas que estaban abandonadas en la calle, violadas en algunos casos o huérfanas desde su nacimiento. Cuando entré en esa habitación y vi lo bien que tratan a las chicas, enseñándoles sobre producción musical, pinchar como DJ, cocina, repostería, deportes y multimedia, todo estaba tan perfectamente organizado en ese impresionante edificio. Inmediatamente me sentí obligada a formar parte de esto.
Llevar a cabo el festival Coney Island es prioritario en este momento y espero que me permita ser capaz de ser anfitriona de mi propio escenario en otros festivales igualmente. ¡También me estoy entrenando para las carreras de automovilismo! Me encantan los coches, así que voy a hacer mi entrenamiento para F1, empezando este otoño. Una vez más no espero nada, ¡pero creo que eso ya lo he dicho!

When did you decide to become a DJ and The idea came from Rob Fernandez, the only promoter I worked with in NYC. He booked me for the first how did you go about making it happen? I had a revelation on the dance floor at The Tunnel in New York whilst Danny Tenaglia was playing and that night I really felt the music connect with me on a deeper level. After this experience I became a professional partygoer. I followed the music around New York and in Europe. I felt like I had found my passion and it set me on the path to making music my career. I began to “read” the music, analyzing every record and transition. I was promoting parties before producing. I bought a house in Ibiza 12 years ago, a little finca in San Jose, I wanted a bigger space so I embarked on a massive refurb which required me to step out of London and focus on the project. It took me two and a half years to get it done and once completed my love for music was so strong I wanted to get back into it by not as a promoter. So I decided to make the music I love. I locked myself in the studio not expecting anything to come out of it until one day I was told that Carl Cox was playing my productions on his radio shows. Learning how to produce ended up opening the doors for me to take it full time.
Let’s talk about your own imprint MOOD Records and the artists you’ve released on the label. Does it continue to be a labor of love for you and what has the future got in store for MOOD?
There's so much love on the label. I'm enjoying the fact I can help raise awareness and share incredible music from up and coming artists like Marino Canal, Wade, Trent Cantrell, PAWSA and of course all the established ones as well like Joel Mull, Carlo Lio and Carl Cox and I! My latest EP ‘Breed’ with Skin is on the label as well, out Sept 18.
time in August 2011 at Governors island in New York and since that moment my profile in the States started to build. He passed away last month and I'm still mourning him. He was the one who arranged this festival for me, he chose this specific location for me and he won't be there to see it. My very first festival in New York without him but I'm dedicating this whole day to him, his company decided to move forward with this show regardless because he would have wanted it to happen. And this thought keeps me going... only for him... I will donate to his son's foundation which was set up recently to help with his future education. Writing this makes me very sad...
As fervent campaigner for human rights, you are also involved with the Lower Eastside Girls Club of New York. What is it about and what’s your involvement in the project?
It’s a charity that aims to support girls and young women growing up in this part of New York, which remains one of the poorest areas of the city. We help to give these girls the tools and the mindset to achieve anything they want to achieve. I went to the Lower East Side girls club for the first time back in June and I was stunned. The building is a state of the art design, clearly the founders have done an amazing job raising funds to help the girls who came from low income family background, girls who were left on the streets, raped in some cases or just orphans since birth. When I went into that room and I saw how wonderfully the girls are treated, being taught about music productions, djing, cooking, baking, sports and multi-media, everything was set up so perfectly in that incredible building. Immediately I was compelled to be part of it.
Your BREED EP is out next month on Mood. When did you first meet Skin from Skunk Anansie and how does your relationship translate in the studio? You definitely have a strong eclectic chaWe were actually both living in Ibiza, so we used to racter, that has made you grow and evolve bump into each other all the time. But it wasn’t until we constantly. Have you got any new impormet at the airport and shared a flight from Portugal to tant goals that you would like to achieve? London that we really got talking. We got on so well, I had to ask her if she would sing on one of my records. I was so happy when she said yes! She’s an incredible songwriter, but working with full vocals really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I’d never done that before, and I was determined to do her justice. It took me a long time, but now I’m really happy with the results and we're definitely thinking of part 2 for next year!
After playing in many big festivals around the world, you are now working on your own festival, that will be held in Coney Island (New York). Where did the idea come from and how will the event be organized?
Pulling off the Coney Island festival is a priority at the moment, and hopefully it will lead to being able to host my own stage at other festivals too. Also I'm training for racing! I love cars so I will be doing my training for the F1 starting this fall. Again I'm not expecting anything but I think I've said this before!
Where’s your favorite spot on the island.
Anywhere with a set of decks and a crowd I can play to! Otherwise for a bit of peace and quiet I like to take my boat over to Formentera and spend the whole day swimming and relaxing.

He estado yendo a Ibiza desde 1996, pillé los últimos años de clubes sin techo y ninguna carretera. He tenido una casa allí desde 2006. Así que ahora por lo general paso mi tiempo entre ese lugar y Londres.
¿Cómo surgió tu colaboración con Nicole Moudaber?
Ella tenía una casa en Ibiza y yo tenía una casa en Ibiza, así que nos conocíamos de alguna manera la una a la otra, teníamos muchos amigos en común, por lo que a menudo nos saludábamos. Pero no fue hasta que fuimos juntas en un avión volviendo de no sé dónde ¡cuando ambas terminamos hablando todo el camino de vuelta! Hemos estado trabajando en esto durante 2 años y tuvimos que estar actualizándolo y cambiándolo.
¿De qué trata la colaboración?, ¿qué intentabais conseguir con los temas?

Creo que estábamos intentando hacer cosas distintas en ámbitos diferentes – obviamente soy una cantante de rock, aunque también pincho. Es como comprimir juntas dos culturas completamente diferentes. Lógicamente somos dos mujeres que son muy sobresalientes en nuestros mercados, así que la música estaba tejiendo una red de sonidos desde dos ángulos distintos. Fue realmente interesante y mucha experimentación. Es improbable que alguien como ella y alguien como yo hayan colaborado nunca – soy una mujer negra cantante de rock y ella es una mujer DJ tecno, puedes contar con una mano cuántas hay en el mundo.

DC10, sin duda. He estado yendo allí desde que era solo una sala sin techo. DC10 es el lugar donde ir si estás comprometido con la música y con estar en la pista de baile – no hay mesas ni servicio de bebidas. No es para todo el mundo, pero si realmente quieres involucrarte en la música, chocando con la gente en la pista de baile y sudando, DC10 es el lugar donde realmente estar. Es un sitio donde todos los DJ aspiran a pinchar.
Entonces, aparte de los clubes, ¿cuáles son tus lugares
favoritos en la isla?
Existe un pequeño lugar en Sa Punta que solía ser una pequeña cabaña, un negocio de marido y mujer donde el marido sale y consigue el pescado, y la mujer cocina. Es sencillamente un fantástico lugar pequeño para comer pescado. Y luego hay algunas playas secretas ¡de las que no te puedo decir nada!
¿Tienes proyectos esperando en el futuro por los que estés especialmente emocionada? ¡Éste realmente! Es la primera vez en mi carrera que he hecho algo así, por lo que es muy especial y diferente musicalmente, las canciones están llenas de alma y corazón. Estamos también grabando un álbum totalmente nuevo de Skunk Anansie en este momento, ¡así que literalmente paso del rock heavy a la música house cada día!
Finalmente, are you night or day?
¡Definitivamente ambos! Me puedo levantar a las 6 de la mañana y ser feliz, y puedo estar despierta toda la noche sin problema ninguno. ¡Soy así de rara, lo sé! Where are you from?
I’m a black female rock singer, and she’s a female techno DJ, you could easily count how many of those there are on the planet.
I’m from London, originally from Brixton.
What is your relationship to Ibiza?
I’ve been going to Ibiza since 1996, I caught the last few years of no roofs on the clubs and no motorway. I’ve had a house there since 2006. So now I mostly split my time between there and London.
How did you collaboration with Nicole Moudaber come about?
She had a house in Ibiza and I had a house in Ibiza, so we kind of knew of each other, we had a lot of mutual friends, so we’d often say hello. But it wasn’t until we were both on a plane back from somewhere where we both ended up chatting all the way home! So she asked me how I’d feel about singing over some techno, and I thought that would be really interesting. I was kind of wary though - I’d done a few collaborations, and I’d learnt that when you do something with house music the end result can end up nothing like what you thought you sung on originally, unlike rock music. I’ve done a few tracks that ended up EDM! But the way she suggested working together was much more up my street - she really did involve me and respect me as an artist, it felt like a real collaboration. We’ve been working on it for 2 years and we had to keep updating it and changing it.
What is the collaboration about, what were you trying to achieve with the tracks? I think we were trying to do different things in different areas. Obviously I’m a rock singer, although I DJ as well. It’s like smashing together two completely different cultures. Obviously we’re both two women who are very prominent in our industries, so the music was weaving together a network of sounds from two different angles. It’s been really interesting and a lot of experimentation. It’s probably the first time someone like her and someone like me has ever collaborated
Do you have a favourite club in Ibiza?
DC10, easy. I’ve been going there since it was just one room with no roof. DC10 is the place to go if you are serious about music and being on the dancefloor - there are no tables and bottle service. Its not for everybody, but if you really want to be involved in the music, bumping up against people on the dancefloor and getting sweaty, DC10 is the place to be really. It’s a place that every DJ aspires to play.
So aside from the clubs what are your favourite spots on the island?
There’s this little place in Santa Punta that used to be this little shack, it’s a husband and wife business where the husband goes out and catches the fish and the wife cooks the food. It’s just a great little fish place. And then there’s some little secret beaches that I can’t tell you about!
So do you have any projects lined up in the future that you are especially excited about?
This one really! It’s the first time in my career I’ve done something like this, so it’s very special and different musically, the songs are full of heart and soul. We’re also recording a brand new Skunk Anansie album at the moment too, so I literally go from heavy rock to house music every day!
Finally, are you night or day?
I’m definitely both! I can get up at 6 in the morning and be happy, and I can be up all night no trouble at all. I’m weird like that I know! Rock music tends to be a bit of day job, but DJing is more like an all-night thing.

Sí, hace muchos años antes de ser DJ escuché una cinta de mezclas, un hombre tocando en vinilo en 3 decks, tocando temas como “Terrorize – It’s Just A Feeling” y cortándolos al estilo hip-hop, ¡me dejó alucinado! Ahí es donde yo quería llegar… Unos años después gané un premio como mejor nuevo DJ mundial en los Muzik Magazine Awards y Carl me entregó el premio. Yo estaba asombrado otra vez. Nos conocimos un poco el uno al otro y empezó a invitarme para tocar en sus fiestas, luego habitualmente en Ibiza, a veces tocando en lo que ahora es la terraza cubierta durante hasta 8 horas… Carl finalmente me inscribió en su agencia de gestión Safehouse. Obtuve la residencia en Space con él y hemos tocado juntos durante muchos años. Él es un habitual en mi fiesta Circus en Liverpool y graba música para mi sello Circus Recordings, somos grandes amigos, ¡pero todavía me sorprende!

Sí, es increíble ver que a Revolution le vaya tan bien, particularmente en un año duro para la isla. Revolution agotó todas las entradas y tuvo que cerrar el acceso en 6 de 7 fiestas esta temporada. Circus también ha tenido una fuerte demanda en nuestros eventos en Liverpool, Manchester, Londres y Barcelona, todo agotado también. Creo que las similitudes es que ambos trabajamos increíblemente duro y ambos tenemos un gran equipo para hacerlo realidad. Carl y yo, los dos creemos genuinamente en todo lo que hacemos y solo tocamos discos que nos encantan. La cantidad de horas que hemos dedicado a nuestras carreras es incalculable, así que es asombroso que estemos colaborando juntos en Space, y por supuesto estoy halagado por la invitación.
Eres un artista y un hombre de negocios, ¿qué rol te satisface más?
Soy un creativo, un DJ, hago música y gestiono un sello discográfico y una empresa de eventos, así que también tuve que aprender negocios. Todos ellos son importantes para mí pero si tuviera solo un día en la tierra nunca me quedaría sentado en mi oficina haciendo números, estaría pinchando, esa es mi pasión y lo que mejor hago.
Yes, many years ago before I was djing I heard a mix tape, a man playing vinyl on 3 decks, playing tracks like “Terrorize – It’s Just A Feeling” and cutting them up hip-hop style, it blew my mind! That’s where I wanted head to… Some years later I won an award for best new global DJ at Muzik Magazine Awards and Carl presented me with the award. I was again blown away. We got to know each other a bit and he begun to invite me to play at his parties, then regularly in Ibiza, sometimes playing on what is now the covered terrace for up to 8hrs… Carl eventually signed me up to his management agency Safehouse. I got a residency at Space with him and we have been playing together for many years. He is regular at my party Circus in Liverpool and records music for my label Circus Recordings, we are great friends, but he still blows my mind!
Yes it’s amazing to see Revolution do so well, particularly in a tough year for the island. Revolution has sold out and had to shut its doors 6 out of 7 parties this season. Circus too has been really strong with our events in Liverpool, Manchester, London and Barcelona all selling out too. I think the similarities are that we both work incredibly hard and both have a great team to make it happen. Carl and I both genuinely believe in everything we do and only play records we love. The hours we have put into our careers is unquantifiable, so it’s amazing to be collaborating together at Space, and of course I’m flattered by the invite.
You are an artist and a businessman, what role satisfies you the most?
I’m a creative, I DJ, I make music and I run a label and an events company so I’ve had to learn business too. All of them are important to me but if I had one day left on earth I would never been sat in my office working on numbers, I would be djing, that’s my love and what I am best at.

¿Prefieres tocar en grandes festivales o en Do you prefer playing in big festivals or in clubes más pequeños? smaller clubs? Me gustan ambos. Me encanta una amplia gama de house underground de calidad y tecno y electrónica, así que disfruto tocando muy profundamente y despreocupado tanto como adoro sacar todo fuera en los grandes festivales. Todo lo que toco siempre tendrá que tener por supuesto el pulso de mi sonido house auténtico atravesándolo.
I like both. I love a wider range of quality underground house and techno and electronic, so I enjoy playing super deep and carefree as much as I love thrashing it out a big festivals. Everything I play will always have the heartbeat of my authentic house sound running throughout it of course.

Me encantan diferentes clubes por distintos motivos, adoro Space por cuidarme durante tantos años, me encanta Amnesia por dar rienda suelta, a pesar de no haber tocado allí desde hace unos cuantos años, y adoro DC10 por su política musical tan resuelta, soy fan de cada DJ que toca allí y sé que no importa lo que escuches pero nunca será un disco malo. ¡Muchos! Mi nuevo single “Are You Ready/Touch Me” y luego “Pleasure Defined” se lanzarán pronto en Circus Recordings. Tengo nueva música que va a salir en Ellen Alien’s Bpitch Control, remixes para Frank Storm & Gtfo y en Bedrock también. Mi sello Circus Recordings tiene nueva música que viene de camino por Scuba, Kydus, Acid Mondays y muchos más. I love different clubs for different reasons, I love Space for taking care of me for so many years, I love Amnesia for letting loose, even though I have not played there for a few years now, and I love DC10 as their music policy is so resolute, every single DJ that plays there I’m a fan of and I know no matter what you will never hear a bad record there. Many! My new single “are you ready/touch me” and then “pleasure defined” will come out soon on Circus Recordings. I’ve new music coming out on Ellen Alien’s Bpitch Control, remixes for Frank Storm and Gtfo and on Bedrock too. My relationships with the island are Estado Puro, a tapas restaurant, and Sublimotion, a gastronomic show, both located at Hard Rock Hotel.
The initial idea arose with Sublimotion, because we thought Ibiza could be the right place where people have a more open mind and it is also a showcase for the world. And with economic status in order to access to this show that has such a cost.
It is a traditional Spanish tapas bar with super affordable prices. A meal costs only from 15 to 18 euros. The Spanish tapa is its basis, such as croquettes or potato salad, with raw material and a different presentation.
I was going to study Biological Sciences, but I went to visit a catering school. Something happened in my

body so that I decided to leave college. My mother helped me to convince my father, who only gave me two pieces of advice: to be the best and not burning my eyelashes. After the school, I went to London; I returned in six months and I started to work at the Casino de Madrid, where I continue to work for the past 24 years. I had likewise the opportunity to work all over the world. The radical change took place in 1998 when Ferran Adrià came to work with us.

Querría dar al cliente una experiencia única. Muchas veces se ofrecen experiencias pero nunca únicas. Hemos pensado de crear algo que no se había vivido antes. También ir a comer en un restaurante bueno no era una experiencia única, cualquiera puede ir. Empezamos a pensar que para hacer eso no era suficiente cocinar, hay que abrir la mente y ver lo que hay alrededor del plato para transportarte en una experiencia única.

Algo pasó en mi cuerpo que decidí abandonar la universidad. Mi madre me ayudó a convencer mi padre que solo me dio dos consejos: de ser el mejor y de no quemarme las pestañas. Al terminar la escuela me fui a Londres, regresé después de 6 meses y me fui a trabajar al Casino de Madrid donde sigo desde 24 años. Igualmente he tenido la oportunidad de trabajar en todo el mundo. El cambio radical fue en el 1998 cuando vine a trabajar con nosotros Ferran Adrià.
I wanted to provide to the client a unique experience. Often experiences are offered, but they are not unique. We have thought about creating something that was never felt before. Likewise, going out at a good restaurant is not a unique experience, everybody can go. We started considering that for doing that, it’s not enough to cook; you must open your mind and see all what surrounds the dish, in order to be conveyed to a unique experience.
Mi vida. Tengo la gran suerte que mi trabajo es mi pasión. My life. I am very lucky because my job is my passion. Estamos a full con el terminar la temporada aquí en Ibiza, en Hard Rock con Sublimotion y Estado Puro, en Colombia y en Shanghái. También estamos abriendo un nuevo pequeño restaurante en México. Por la mañana pronto me gusta correr. Termino de trabajar siempre a la 1.30 de la noche. A veces salgo y me gusta disfrutar de la noche pero prefiero ir a dormir pronto ¡para no ir a correr hecho polvo!

We are full-time to end the season here in Ibiza, in Hard Rock with Sublimotion and Estado Puro, in Colombia and in Shanghai. We are also opening a new small restaurant in Mexico. Early in the morning I like to go running. I always finish working at 1.30 AM. Sometimes I go out and I like enjoying night, but I prefer to go to bed early, not to go running knackered!

In September, Asia will be literally invaded by the Ultra Music Festival. The UMF itself takes place in Tokyo from 19th to 21st September, followed almost immediately by the issue of Bali, Indonesia (24th and 25th September). Road To Ultra parties, consisting of one single performance, will take place yet in Singapore (Saturday 19th), Taiwan (Sunday 20th) and Manila, Philippines, on Saturday 26th September. En el año 2000, tres chavales, dos calabreses y un siciliano, comenzaron un proyecto que ya es una realidad sólida en el circuito internacional de clubbing: Neverdogs. Ahora Marco y Tommy (con Gio' Galvano entre el 2000 y el 2004) celebran el logro histórico de 15 años con un evento en Londres el 17 de octubre en el The Cuckoo Club, junto con el cumpleaños de Marco (para quien escribe, participar es ya una tradición desde hace casi 10 años). Con los dos artistas también celebrará Andrea Giugato, desde siempre el responsable de comunicación del dúo y manager de reservas. Podríamos dividir su carrera en tres fases. La primera fase a la conquista de Italia dando los primeros pasos en Florencia. En realidad nacen en un pequeño club donde organizan los afterhours los domingos por la mañana en el Maresis. Se convierten a continuación en DJs residentes del “privado” del Tenax (fue aquí donde por primera vez se cruzaron nuestros caminos). En poco tiempo se trasladan a Riccione donde conocen a Davide Ruberto con el que hoy en día continúan colaborando. En Riccione tocan en todos los clubes más importantes y se convierten en residentes del Docshow de Bolonia. Mientras tanto Italia empieza a quedársele pequeña al dúo, se inicia la segunda fase que tiene como objetivo traspasar las fronteras nacionales. Comienzan los veranos ibicencos (y las colaboraciones con nuestra revista incipiente y los eventos de Jonathan Roi) y la idea de mudarse a Londres con las residencias en EGG y las colaboraciones con los principales promotores londinenses. La última fase corresponde con el éxito internacional, los eventos como WMC y The BPM Festival, pero sobre todo convirtiéndose en parte integrante del proyecto Music On de Marco Carola.

In 2000, three guys, two Calabrian and one Sicilian, started a project which is now a solid reality in the international clubbing circuit: Neverdogs. Now, Marco and Tommy (with Gio' Galvano between 2000 and 2004) celebrate the historic achievement of 15 years with an event in London on 17th October at The Cuckoo Club, along with Marco’s birthday (participating has been a tradition for almost 10 years for who is writing this article). Andrea Giugato, together with the two artists, will also celebrate, as booking agent and communication manager of the duo since the beginning. We could divide their career into three phases. The first stage to conquer Italy taking the first steps in Florence. Actually they were born in a small club where they organized afterhours on Sunday mornings at the Maresis. They became hereafter resident DJs at the “vip area” of Tenax (it was here where our paths crossed for the first time). In a short time, they moved to Riccione where they met Davide Ruberto, with whom they continue their collaboration nowadays. In Riccione they played in all the major clubs and they became residents at Docshow in Bologna. As Italy became too small for the duo, the second stage begins, with the aim to get out of to national borders. They start the summers in Ibiza (and the collaborations with our emerging magazine and the events of Jonathan Roi) and the idea of moving to London with the residences at EGG and the collaborations with the major promoters in London. The last stage corresponds to the international success, the events as WMC and The BPM festival, but especially becoming an integral part of the project Music On by Marco Carola.

Al llegar al aeropuerto de Cancún, como siempre nos perdemos en la desorganización típica de la zona y cuando, ya agotados, finalmente llegamos a Playa del Carmen, la ciudad nos envuelve con sus carreteras inestables y sus casitas variopintas. ¡Bienvenidos a México!
7am. The alarm is like a shot immediately softened by the idea of leaving. The journey is long and tiring, but it proceeds smoothly. When we arrive at Cancun airport, as always, we get lost in the typical disorganization of the area and when, already exhausted, we finally arrive in Playa del Carmen, the city surrounds us with its unstable roads and colorful houses. Welcome to Mexico!
En la calle se respira ya aire de The BPM Festival... el ambiente de espera de la fiesta es contagioso, casi palpable. Finalmente llega el 9 de enero... y ¡empezamos a bailar! Diez días de fiesta ininterrumpida día y noche. Nuestra primera velada es en el Mamita’s, por "Carl Cox & Friends". El beach club, literalmente en la playa y al aire libre, es acogedor y está bien decorado. La música es absolutamente de nivel, de hecho, la entrada está llena de gente haciendo cola para entrar.
In the streets we can breathe The BPM Festival atmosphere... the expectation ambiance of the party is contagious, almost tangible. Finally it’s the 9th January... so let the party start! Ten days of uninterrupted party day and night. Our first event is at Mamita’s, for "Carl Cox & Friends". The place, literally on the beach and outdoors, is warm and well decorated. The music is absolutely top-level, as a matter of fact, the entrance is full of people queuing to get in.
Lo que inmediatamente nos llama la atención es la excelente organización del festival. Por toda Playa se encuentran locales afiliados, puntos de venta de entradas, carteles publicitarios y folletos con toda la información necesaria. Y la presencia de este evento se hace sentir, predominante. Los promotores se aseguran de que los participantes tengan respeto por la ciudad, pidiendo educación y civismo. Esto lo demuestran los equipos de BPM Green Team, operadores de limpieza ecológicos de la ciudad.
What instantly attracts our attention is the excellent organization of the festival. All around Playa there are affiliated venues, ticket points, advertising posters and brochures with all the required information. And again we can strongly feel the presence of this event, prevailing. Promoters ensure that the participants are respectful towards the city, begging for education and citizenship. This is demonstrated by the BPM Green Team, who are eco cleaning operators of the city.
El segundo día decidimos descansar un poco disfrutando de la playa y de los amigos que, en número creciente, están llegando sólo para el evento. El tercer día comienza con buen chaparrón que dura hasta después de comer, dándonos tiempo para relajarnos antes de la fiesta. Optamos por ir a Fusion a la fiesta de "Culprit", que ofrece entre otros, Adriatique, Bambook, Benoit y Sergio, Maxxi Soundsystem... ¡música espectacular! Por todas partes hay gente guapa bailando en la playa, la brisa nos evita sufrir demasiado calor y el ambiente está cada vez más lleno de adrenalina y ganas de divertirse.
On the second day, we decide to rest for a while enjoying the beach and friends who, in increasing numbers, are arriving just for the event. The third day starts with a good cloudburst that lasts until after lunch, giving us time to relax before the party. We chose to go to Fusion at the "Culprit" party which provides among many others, Adriatique, Bambook, Benoit and Sergio, Maxxi Soundsystem... amazing music! All over the place there are beautiful people dancing on the beach, the breeze prevents us from suffering too much heat and the atmosphere is increasingly full of adrenaline and fun-loving. La fiesta siguiente no puede ser otra que la del "Circoloco" en el Blue Parrot, también en la playa, con un cartel excepcional que nos regala sonidos emocionantes, ritmos y melodías en este maravilloso lugar. Para evitar largas colas en el bar se pueden pedir bebidas directamente en la pista gracias a los camareros que circulan en el local, ofreciendo este apreciado servicio. ¡Simplemente perfecto! Del mismo modo, la fiesta "Cadenza", también en el Blue Parrot, promete mucho con Davide Squillace como invitado, siendo el protagonista de la noche junto con Luciano.
The next party can be no other but "Circoloco" at Blue Parrot, also on the beach, with an exceptional lineup that gives us exciting sounds, rhythms and melodies in this wonderful venue. In order to avoid long queues at the bar you can order drinks directly by the dance floor thanks to the various waiters moving along the venue, offering this appreciated service. Just perfect! Similarly, the "Cadenza" night at Blue Parrot also promises a lot with Davide Squillace as guest appearance, being the star of the night along with Luciano.
Más tarde, sin embargo, no nos podemos perder el "Paradise" en el beach club Blue Venado, ¡con Jamie Jones y Steve Lawler! ¡No puedo esperar! La ubicación es fenomenal, aunque un poco de difícil acceso. Se encuentra a pocos kilómetros a las afueras de Playa, directamente en la playa y se llega desde el parking sólo después de un largo paseo bajo la luna. La siguiente parada es al Santanera donde toca el amigo Elio Riso y después al Blue Parrot para la noche "Viva Warriors", por la amistad que nos une a Steve Lawler quien, como siempre, no nos defrauda. También "Music On", que forma parte de nuestra familia de Ibiza y es el evento de clausura del festival, demuestra una vez más los méritos de tanto éxito.
By the end, however, we cannot miss "Paradise" at Blue Venado beach club, with Jamie Jones and Steve Lawler! Can’t wait! The location is brilliant, although it is a bit difficult to reach. It is located a few kilometers outside Playa, directly on the beach and it can be accessed from the parking only after a long walk in the moonlight. The next stop is at Santanera where our friend Elio Riso is playing and afterwards at Blue Parrot for the "Viva Warriors" night, for our friendship with Steve Lawler who, as usual, does not disappoint us. Also "Music On", part of our Ibiza family and closing event of the festival, proves once again the merits of such success.
El final del festival nos deja aún con muchas ganas de celebrar y los eventos continúan en los siguientes días en varias localidades de la zona. Como si nadie quisiera que terminara. Pero, como en todas las cosas, siempre hay un final y esto es lo que hace que la espera para el próximo BPM Festival sea todavía más emocionante. Así que sólo queda esperar al 8 de enero de 2016 para una nueva edición que, estamos seguros, sabrá proporcionarnos más sorpresas y sensaciones.
The end of the festival still leaves us longing very much for party and the events continue over the next days in various locations in the area. As if no one wanted it to finish. But as in all things, there is always an end and that’s what makes the wait for the next BPM Festival even more exciting. So we just have to look forward to the 8th January 2016 for a new edition that, we are sure, will know how to provide us more surprises and sensations.

En los años pasados colaboramos con www.bridgesformusic.org, una asociación con base en Súdafrica que tiene el fin de apoyar el desarrollo de la música responsable en los países en desarrollo.
B.Different is an event we do in B.FOR Ibiza since 2013, with the idea to offer our customers a fun and lively evening, and in turn, have a united purpose and collaborate with local and international NGOs. In the past years we collaborated with www.bridgesformusic.org, an association based in South Africa that has to support the responsible development of music in developing countries.

Año tras año dos sentimientos opuestos se mezclan al acercarse octubre. El primero tiene que ver con el entusiasmo por disfrutar de uno de los cierres más esperados del verano – con un cartel y nivel de producción reconocidos en todo el mundo – mientras que el segundo está directamente relacionado con la tristeza por decirle adiós a la temporada. En definitiva, una excitante bomba de sensaciones que estallará el próximo domingo 4 de octubre con el Space Closing Fiesta más especial de los últimos tiempos. El Space Closing Fiesta 2015 viene precedido de una apertura multitudinaria y una temporada llena de éxitos. Las nuevas fiestas RAW CHANGE, Glitterbox y Vagabundos han tenido una gran acogida por parte del público, igual que las residencias más veteranas como Clandestin pres. Full On Ibiza, Carl Cox Music Is Revolution, ENTER y elrow-Kehakuma.. Seguro que una gran parte de los nombres más representativos de la temporada constituirán el line-up de esta interesante despedida. Para el Space Closing Fiesta se abrirán seis áreas, incluyendo el escenario favorito por los asistentes: la zona al aire libre situada en la parte trasera del club y que estará gestionada por Ultra Ibiza. La fiesta empezará a las 16:30h de la tarde en esta localización que solamente disfrutarás en los Openings, Closings y fechas más importantes. Además, la revista de música electrónica más importante del mundo DJ Mag se encargará sacarle el máximo provecho a la Main Room. Year after year two conflicting feelings are mixed when approaching October. The first, to enjoy one of summer’s most anticipated closures – with a lineup and production level that is the most referenced around the world – while the latter is directly linked to the sadness of saying goodbye to the season. An exciting bomb of sensations will explode on Sunday 4th October with the Space Closing Fiesta that will be the most special from the prior. The Space Closing Fiesta 2015 is preceded by a massive opening and a triumphant season. The new parties of RAW CHANGE, Glitterbox and Vagabundos have been well received by the public, as the veteran residencies such as Clandestin pres.. Full On Ibiza, Carl Cox Music Is Revolution, pres ENTER.. and elrow-Kehakuma, ENTER elrow-Kehakuma For sure, a large part of the most representative names of the season will constitute the line-up of this interesting farewell. For this Space Closing Fiesta, Fiesta six areas will be opened, including the most favorite stage by attendees: the outdoor zone located in the rear of the club, which will be hosted by Ultra Ibiza. This charismatic outdoor area that only opens during the Openings and Closings; and exceptionally during the last anniversary, will be the first to open at 4:30 in the afternoon. In addition, the world's biggest electronic music magazine DJ Mag will host the Main Room getting the most out of it. The Funktion One sound system and a spectacular stage production will be other aspects to note about this event that should be experienced at least once in a lifetime. It will certainly be a Closing that will transform the sense of sadness to a musical joy, because it is not the end, it’s the beginning of another chapter in the history of the best club in the world.

¿Puedes decirnos cómo comenzó tu Can you please tell us how your musical career began? carrera musical? Mi carrera musical comenzó cuando tenía 15 años. Acababa de introducirme en el drum&bass y en algunas cosas de música tecnológica. Comencé a explorar más y más, entonces me metí en el tecno. Principalmente el Minimal Techno me ha influenciado para comenzar a tocar música y para producir. Empecé a conocer a gente, promotores y DJs en los que tenía interés. Artistas como Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna han sido una inspiración para mí y para mi estilo de música. Día a día empecé a ir a clubes y a conocer a nuevos artistas, promotores que mostraron interés en mí. Empecé a actuar en eventos y a producir para algunos buenos sellos como Shadow Music Recordings, Patent Skillz, Dynamo Recordings, etc.
My musical career began when I was 15 years old. I just got into drum&bass and some techy music stuff. I started to explore more and more then I got into techno. Mostly Minimal Techno has influenced me to start playing music and to produce. I started to know people, promoters and DJs that I had an interest in. Artists like Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna have been an inspiration for me and for my style of music. Day by day I started going to clubs and meeting new artists, promoters that showed interest in me. I started playing gigs and producing for some good labels like Shadow Music Recordings, Patent Skillz, Dynamo Recordings, etc.

Hemos sobrepasado la cifra de 50 días en la Isla Blanca, 42 episodios de m2o @ Ibiza sin descanso los 7 días de la semana y digamos las 24 horas del día en los que he pensado, trabajado y vivido para el programa. Porque un DJ aquí no se detiene nunca: están los espectáculos para ir a ver, las propias sesiones por hacer, los contactos con los que conectar, las entrevistas que hay que grabar y cuando sucede, por desgracia demasiado poco a menudo, el sueño que recuperar. Pero en el fondo... “nadie recuerda las noches pasadas durmiendo”, es la frase que mejor describe mi verano ibicenco. Por lo tanto ¡puedo ir preparando mi borrador de fin de aventura de la vida Night&Day en Ibiza!
We have surpassed the number of 50 days on the White Island, 42 episodes of m2o @ Ibiza without a break 7 days a week, that is to say 24 hours a day where I thought, worked and lived for the program. Because a DJ never stops here: there are shows to go and watch, your own gigs to be done, contacts with who to connect, interviews to be recorded and when it happens, unfortunately not frequently, catching up on sleep. But essentially... “nobody remembers the nights that have been spent sleeping”, is the sentence that best describes my Ibizan summer. The island was overcrowded, and particularly expensive. In return, like never before, there was the chance to live for free (no room and board, forget it!): many events on the beach as the wonderful party Rumors of Guy Gerber on Sunday at Beachouse or the pre-parties at Cafe Mambo. Many DJs change their music selection depending on the place where they are playing; listening to Solomun at Pacha is not the same that listening to him playing at Destino. There has been so much talk about young people and clubs this summer in Italy, due to the terrible events in the news. The security of the venues in Ibiza can teach us so much!

Andrea Oliva is one of the most appreciated DJs of Ibiza. Thanks to his Ants party, scheduled at Ushuaïa every Saturday night, and a number of summer parties where he will be the star also in other venues, Space above all. “I think an album should always be a journey, a path, not a simple set of many tracks an end in themselves. My team and I wanted to make sense of all this also from the point of view of graphics, from the point of view of the so-called artwork: a continuity not only musical”.

¿Qué te impulsa a escribir para N&D?
Me encanta N&D, ya que es la mejor revista para todo tipo de gente en la isla. Es perfecta para saber lo que está ocurriendo en Ibiza y en Formentera. Es realmente un placer escribir sobre mí. Desde que empecé a trabajar en la isla siempre soñé con estar en una revista... muchas gracias por esta increíble oportunidad que me estáis dando.

Yes I am an artist, in fact since 20 years I do professional Drag. I mostly get inspired by other artists and designers. I love to work with creative and crazy people. I love makeup, I got educated in Makeup and Hair by Estee Lauder (MAC/ AVEDA) and also for long time by WELLA AG (Sebastian International).
Your philosophy.
I want to put a smile on the face of the people that are watching me. This makes me happy and gives me a priceless feeling, more than I could ever get by being paid for it! Also I love to see when people enjoy celebrating a f***ing good party with me and all the other artists. I like to feel the good energy of LOVE and HAPPINESS and to reach the point where we forget the daily routine...
What drives you to write for N&D?
I love N&D because it is the best magazine for all kind of people on the Island. It’s perfect to know what is going on in Ibiza and Formentera. It is really a pleasure to write about me. Since I started to work on the Island I always dreamed to be on a magazine... thanks a lot for this amazing opportunity that you are giving me.

Al diseño y a la implementación de sistemas profesionales de amplificación del sonido; soy el dueño de la marca Loud Professional. Loud Professional es una marca joven emergente que nace en el panorama del made in Italy. Además de presentar un importante know-how tras muchos años de experiencia y de I+D, en estos últimos años se está posicionando con éxito en el mercado de sistemas profesionales de amplificación de sonido y sobre todo en el segmento de las discotecas y de grandes festivales de música electrónica. Algunas instalaciones importantes como el DC10 nos han permitido hacer que se aprecie el valor de nuestros sistemas tanto para el público como, incluso en mayor medida, al reducido círculo de promotores. Besides the usual Ibiza, the music, the hippies, the free Ibiza, the hidden Ibiza, each time there is more and more tourist offer, more segmentation and more people. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. People all over the world dream about spending 10 days on Ibiza, to know what is Pacha, Space, Ushuaia, Mambo, the beaches and to see what has attracted everyone over the last 70 years!

Nuestra colaboración para los eventos Underground/Tecno de Spazio Novecento nació el 30 de abril de hace varios años, fecha que quedará en nuestro recuerdo porque dio inicio a esta maravillosa aventura.
¿Cuál es vuestro principal concepto y la particularidad de los servicios que ofrecéis?
Lo que centra particularmente nuestra atención y nuestros esfuerzos son los servicios de prevención y todo lo que le pueda dar al evento un enfoque internacional.

Empezamos en septiembre para terminar en junio con nada menos que 22 eventos de Techouse/Tecno. No puedo definir Spazio Novecento ya que, como palacio del Arte Antiguo, situado muy cerca del centro de Roma, no necesita más descripción debido a su importancia histórica. Defino en vez lo que se propone en el interior de este elegante lugar de mármol: único, dinámico, de vivir.
¿Proyectos futuros?
Estamos desarrollando nuestro trabajo también en otros ámbitos, para proponer también géneros musicales distintos de los que hacemos habitualmente.
Relación con Ibiza.
Creo que vivo la isla un poco como lo hacen todos... cuando puedo, disfruto de la atmósfera única que solo se respira allí.
¿Tus lugares favoritos de la isla?
Si hablamos de clubes, no puedo dejar de citar a DC10 y Amnesia. Por lo demás, puedo decir que la isla es estupenda, en todas sus facetas...

We will start in September to finish in June with nothing less than 22 events of Techouse/ Techno. I can’t define Spazio Novecento because, as Palace of the Ancient Art, located very close to the centre of Rome, there is no need for further description due to its historical importance. So, I define what we propose inside this elegant marble place: unique, dynamic, liveable.

Después de muchas experiencias por el mundo, hace 7 años he llegado a Ibiza y, a diferencia de otros lugares, aquí me llamó la atención de inmediato la cálida acogida de la gente. Desde el principio me sentí libre de expresar mi personalidad y mi pasión por la música... la música es lo que nos une a todos... y encontrar equilibrio en Ibiza ha sido una experiencia gradual y única.
After many experiences around the world I have come to Ibiza 7 years ago, and unlike other places, here I was struck immediately by the welcome of the people. From the start I felt free to express my personality and my passion for music… the music that binds us all… and finding the balance in Ibiza has been a gradual and unique experience.
Nací en Nápoles, desde pequeño con mi hermano empezamos a comprar vinilos y escuchábamos la música house de L.L. Vega, Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry, los mejores temas del sonido House de Chicago de los años ‘90. Estas experiencias han marcado mi manera de escuchar música y producir. Dedico mucho tiempo en ello, siempre tratando de mejorar mi técnica y mi cultura musical.
I was born in Naples, as a child with my brother we started to buy vinyls and to put on some records, we listened to the music of L.L Vega, Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry, listening to the best tracks of the Chicago House of the 90s. These experiences had influenced a lot my way of listening and making music. I dedicate much time to the music, always trying to improve my technique and my musical culture.
En el 2012 entré como DJ resident en el Blue Marlin Ibiza y tuve la oportunidad de poner mi música y mis producciones. El invierno pasado fui DJ resident al Eden en Dubai donde he compartido cabina con algunos de los más grandes DJs de la escena actual del tecno internacional.
In 2012 I became one of the resident DJ at Blue Marlin Ibiza and I had the opportunity to play my music and my productions. Last winter I have been DJ resident of Eden in Dubai were I was sharing the booth with some of the biggest talents of the Techno scene of the moment.

No sólo Hip Hop, sino también grandes invitados se han pasado por nuestra cabina: tío Ralf, Luca Agnelli, Paul Kalkbrenner y por supuesto el equipo de Cocoon y Club Haus 80’s que todas las semanas nos regalaron noches inolvidables. No podemos tampoco olvidar la emoción que sentimos durante nuestra fiesta in boat con Nina Kraviz, que luego ha continuó en el Club toda la noche. llegando casi al final de esta temporada parece imprescindible dar las gracias a Vosotros, que sois la verdadera razón por la que nos encanta nuestro trabajo, veros a vosotros salir sonrientes de nuestro Club, felices y hasta un poco ruidosos, mañana tras mañana durante cinco años, nos indica que estamos haciendo nuestro trabajo de la manera correcta.
Il 26 settembre il Tipic festeggerà la chiusura della nostra quinta “temporada” a Formentera. Un anno pieno di soddisfazioni e successi, la scommessa di quest'anno era la serata HipHop XXL con Dj Herca il cui riscontro è stato oltre le nostre aspettative, segno che a Formentera c'è sempre spazio per tutti i tipi di musica. Non solo Hip Hop, ma anche grandi ospiti hanno fatto capolino nella nostra consolle: lo zio Ralf, Luca Agnelli, Paul Kalkbrenner e ovviamente lo staff di Cocoon e Club Haus 80's che ogni settimana ci hanno regalato notti indimenticabili. Non possiamo nemmeno dimenticare l'emozione che abbiamo provato durante la nostra festa in boat con Nina Kraviz poi continuata al Club per tutta la notte. Giunti quasi al termine di questa stagione ci sembra d'obbligo ringraziare Voi, che siete il vero motivo per cui amiamo il nostro lavoro, vedervi uscire dal nostro Club sorridenti, felici e anche un po' rumorosi, mattina dopo mattina da cinque anni, ci fa capire che stiamo facendo il nostro lavoro nel modo giusto.
Queremos dar las gracias a mamá y a papá Leali que un poco se han convertido en la madre y el padre de todo el personal.
Vogliamo ringraziare anche mamma e papà Leali che un pò sono diventati mamma e papa di tutto lo staff.
Pero aún cuando la temporada termina, no estamos cansados y, de hecho, ya estamos listos para reanudar nuestra gira de invierno por toda Italia y con la colaboración milanes a de los chicos de Haus Club 80’s. Vamos a terminar con el broche de oro de celebrar los 5 años de Tipic en Sónar Off 2016 en Barcelona.
Ma anche se la stagione finisce noi non siamo stanchi e infatti siamo pronti a riprendere con il nostro tour invernale per tutta Italia e con la collaborazione milanese coi ragazzi di Club Haus 80's. Finiremo in bellezza di festeggiare i 5 anni del Tipic al Sonar Off 2016 a Barcellona.
Así que os esperamos a todos el año que viene con nuestra sexta temporada, que traerá alguna novedad interesante... pero tendréis que esperar para conocerlas.
Dunque vi aspettiamo tutti anche l'anno prossimo con la nostra sesta stagione, che porterà qualche novità interessante… ma dovrete aspettare per conoscerle.
