REMEMBERING PAUL FRANK CIANCI, SR.

APRIL 18, 1928 - FEBRUARY 24, 2023

On the morning of February 24, 2023 my father passed away. Paul “Pops” Cianci was 94 years old and led one hell of a great life. The past few months were difficult and by the 24th, he was ready to join my Mom in heaven.

Pops moved from Toledo, Ohio to Tampa Bay back in 1980, following my sister Debi, who was the first to call Tampa Bay home. I soon joined everybody in 1982.

He was my business partner, mentor, golf buddy, sports & horse racing betting partner and best friend. We did a million things together and life will not be the same without him. He was a huge part of NightMoves

Magazine, Full Throttle Magazine and our publishing business. He taught me how to run a business, how to interact with people and how to be a better man.

He became “Pops” to many people, including my wife Tracy, daughterin-law Christine and sister-in-law Kimmy. He is also survived by his daughter Debi, two grandsons (Paul Michael & Anthony) and four greatgrandchildren (Paul Jacob, Isabella, Ashlynn & Krysie). He was also “Pops” to many of our friends and the messages and texts our family received after his passing numbered over 650. The overwhelming response makes me and my entire Cianci family say thank you to everybody who met him and took time to send a message. We will be having a “Celebration of Life” gathering in early this month and if you want to know more please keep an eye on my Facebook page.

We all love and miss you Pops and you will be in our thoughts, minds and hearts forever.

To say that February was a very “interesting” month for us here at NightMoves would be an understatement. It started with a fantastic Super Bowl game with Kansas City defeating the Philadelphia Eagles … Valentine’s Day was a great way to celebrate with that special somebody … The Florida State Fair had a great two week run … area clubs had feature acts visit … and the weather was amazing … and then it all came to an abrupt stop as my father (Paul F. Cianci) passed away on February 24. That is an important date in the NightMoves calendar as it is also the birthday of our editor (and my wife) Tracy Cianci AND our sales manager Tom Peak.

“Pop” was 94 years old and led a life that we all dream about living. He was loved by everybody and had a smile that was infectious (see more on the RIP page inside this issue). He had a million stories to tell and I miss him terribly.

Moving on … March is one of the busiest months of the year starting with my birthday on March 3 (yes

I am now officially an old fart!) … Daytona Bike Week runs 3/4 thru 3/12 … St. Paddy’s Day is 3/17 … The Valspar PGA Tournament in Palm Harbor is 3/13 thru 3/19 … The Lightning play 8 home games this month … Spring Training takes over numerous ballparks in Central Florida … the Strawberry Festival takes place in Plant City 3/2 thru 3/12 … and NCAA March Madness has basketballs bouncing everywhere! All area clubs will have parties and feature entertainers in town (see our Events Calendar) and of course our weather will be spectacular!

I want to sincerely thank everybody for picking up a copy of NightMoves or reading our pages online at www.NightMovesonline.com. We work hard to bring you interesting local & national articles, movie reviews, astrological info, sports, toy reviews and articles on local people here in Tampa Bay. The amazing Hayla Faye visited Silks Adult Entertainment last month and did a spectacular job! Hayla is a feature entertainer that puts on one hell of a show! SPORTS REPORT

NFL FOOTBALL:

The Super Bowl was just that … Super! What a great, high-scoring, action packed football game! The Kansas City Chiefs were victorious by a 38-35 score over the Philadelphia Eagles and are building a dynasty behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes who was named the game MVP.

Mahomes was 21/27 for 182 yards and three touchdowns! He also added 44 rushing yards to his stat line. On the other side of the football, Eagle quarterback Jalen Hurts was 27/38 for 304 yards and one passing touchdown but he also rushed for 70 yards and three … yes that’s right … three touchdowns! Needless-to-say, if Philly won the game Jalen would have been taking that trip to Disneyland! It was a hell of a game and a fantastic nish to an exciting NFL year.

Looking ahead to next season, our Tampa Bay Bucs will be making a whole lot of changes. The retirement of Tom Brady forces the team to nd a new starting QB and according to spotrac.com , The Bucs are $55,594,949 over the Salary Cap. This leaves little wiggle room in the attempt to re-sign some of their top players and hampers their ability to attract new talent to Tampa. There are a few options under center… try 2021 draft pick Kyle Trask as your starter … sign SF quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo … sign Geno Smith from Seattle … sign former Cleveland Brown Jacoby Brissett or look at the much-moved-around Baker May eld. The team doesn’t have the money to go after Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers or Daniel Jones. It will be an exciting o -season to say the least!

TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING

Now that football is over we can concentrate on our Tampa Bay Lightning who are once again a serious threat to take home Lord Stanley’s Cup. At press time the Bolts are in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs. They have a very respectable 36-17-3 record and the team is ready to make a long playo run.

The team is overall healthy and playing solid hockey. I have went to a few games and the crowds are amazing! Tampa Bay is one great hockey town and the team will be ready for the playo s!

MLB SPRING TRAINING

The Tampa Bay area will be MLB’s top area when Spring Training starts this month. The Rays will be playing their Spring Training games in Orlando this year due to the damage caused by Hurricane Ian last year making them move out of Charlotte Sports Park. The team made very few moves during the o -season and they will have their work cut out playing in the American League East Division against the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox. Next month I will give you my yearly baseball predictions and rundowns of every MLB team.

MARCH MADNESS

This is a great time of the year as college basketball crowns their champion via the March Madness tournament. The action starts on Tuesday March 12 with games played in arenas across the country and concludes on Monday evening April 3 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

GODSMACK’S FINAL ALBUM? THEY’RE READY TO “SURRENDER”!

Rock stars and rappers love partying at strip clubs-no surprise there, Captain Obvious. Even so, it seems fairly rare that a veteran rock drummer like Shannon Larkin of Godsmack could vividly recall strip-club escapades from two decades ago. And yet...

“Ah, that crazy strip-club era,” Larkin recalls of the time that he and the band spent renting a home in Miami to write their 2003 album “Faceless.”

“One night we started the party somewhere else at the house or at the studio or wherever. By the time we get to the club remember, in Miami, they’re open 24-7 it’s like four in the morning and our security guard ‘DC’ is literally carrying me over his shoulder. Thankfully we knew the bouncer since we’d been there a few times already. The bouncer was like, ‘Oh man, your drummer doesn’t look so hot.’ I remember Sully (Erna, Godsmack’s lead singer and guitarist) saying to the guy, ‘Oh he’s just a little sloppy tonight. He’ll be alright.’ And they let us in. A lot of people have stories about being carried out of the strip, but I got carried in.”

DAVE: What inspires the band now musically compared to when it first started? Uh, and then they mentioned you’ve been in the band since 2002.

LARKIN: Sully has always been inspired by true life. Every song is pretty much about what he’s going through in his life. And that’s from “Keep Away” all the way up to the new song “Surrender.” Real-life experience is what inspires him to write the lyrics, and we just get together as four guys and try and make cool jams.

DAVE: Godsmack is set to release a brand-new, full-length album. But does the band believe that full-length albums are still the standard, or as have some suggested, will it be more about singles or EPs in the future?

LARKIN: Well, the unfortunate truth is that it is about singles and

EPs now. Godsmack still makes full-length records, at least this final one (note: Sully Erna has suggested that this will be the last full-length studio album from Godsmack) is made to be played as a body of work in which you experience valleys and you experience peaks. And it should be a rollercoaster ride of a record. You know, my favorite records are albums like Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” You put it on and you wanna hear the whole thing, man.

ED: What initially inspired you to be a musician, and specifically, why did you gravitate toward the drums?

LARKIN: My initial music inspiration was probably in about 1975 and it was Kiss. But I didn’t hear Kiss and wanna be a drummer. When I dressed up for Halloween I was (former Kiss lead guitarist) Ace Frehley. But what happened was, my older sister would hear me jamming music in my room and she came in one day and said, “You know, your music is weak. Listen to this — and she gave me Rush’s “Hemispheres.” When my young brain heard “Hemispheres,” I’m like, oh my God, listen to the drums! I wasn’t thinking, I wanna do that, I was just intrigued by what that man (Rush drummer, the late Neil Peart) was playing. I didn’t even know he wrote the lyrics, I just knew that was something that caught my ear. And I still have that record by the way. I wore that red record out. And Sully is making coffee and his cell phone rings and I hear him pick it up and go, “Hello?” And he’s hungover and he’s got the dark cloud around him and he’s like (yelling), “Hello?! Stone who?” And I immediately went, “Stone! Stone Gossard!” And then Sully says, “Oh hi Stone. My drummer? Oh he’s still alive, he’s fine.” The great Stone Gossard was calling to ask if I was okay.

I have one more for you from our

time in Miami. So at the end of another night at the strip club, we end up parked in the driveway of our rental house. Sully had this giant Ford F150, basically, a monster truck where you gotta grab a hold of a handle to pull yourself up.

When we got back to the house we were listening to Led Zeppelin, and we were sitting there watching the sunrise in the truck. For some reason one of the Zeppelin songs came on and I just went, “Ahhh!” And I punched his windshield. And just like that, I spiderwebbed the windshield of his truck. Once again award-winning director Kay Brandt puts her stamp on another terrific couples-oriented film with a solid story line and compelling performances by a stellar cast. As she has done in previous productions for Marc Dorcel, Brandt brings out the very essence of couple’s relationships, the ups and downs, the wanderings, the fantasies and how they all play out. In this latest offering, that is sure to garner award buzz for next year, you have film that has plenty of juicy sexual scenes bridged in fine fashion by the wonderfully paced story and dialogue that creates a total realism and believability to this release. Dorcel could not have selected a better writer/director to helm his U.S. film productions than Kay Brandt.

The key characters in this story are Janie (Kenna James and Justin (Jay Smooth. They are a very much in love couple who seem to have everything they need except the most important one, loving sex. Oh, they have sex, but it is no longer the same. Janie had been hoping for a big-time job she has always wanted and finally got it. The problem is that she became so involved with this new job that it has affected her and Justin’s love life. When they do find time to be together, Janie is always preoccupied and has her phone nearby in case of business calls. As she says at one point, her phone has replaced her vibrator... Not good! But Janie has put everything, her sex life, her husband in the rear-view mirror with her job the priority... Again, not good.

What Janie and Justin come to find out is that this gathering is more than just a big happy engagement party and that the invited guests are all sexually open minded and have no problems when it comes to sharing.

Of course, this takes Janie by surprise and in the process begins to see, by Justin’s reactions that he may be hiding some things from her. It seems as though some of the guests and Justin know each other from the past. Janie notices that Sage and Natalie (Gia Derza) are more than just friends by the way the greeted one another and the looks they give each other. Little by little Janie is warming up to what this is really all about. However, she needs to confront Justin and find out exactly what his situation is, or was, withy these couples before they met and got together. This is when things begin to really open up and get interesting.

So, what does take place between Janie and Justin, their hosts and the other guests? What is Justin hiding from Janie? Will this getaway make their relationship better or worse? We will leave the rest for you to find out and see how this all plays out for everyone involved. But be rest assured there will be plenty of fireworks of all kinds taking place that you do not want to miss.

Another brilliant job from Kay Brandt not only in the well-paced direction, but in the totally believable dialogue between the main characters that is done with just the right embellishments and once again showing off the powerful presence of Kenna James. Vanna Bardot once again shines, but the entire cast comes through in this film. The settings are lush, the cinematography is exceptional and the sexual scenes, there are five, are definitely eye catching and sizzle. This was an award nominee at the recent AVN and XBIZ awards. Once again, the combination of Dorcel and Brandt is a big winner. Do not miss it, you will not be disappointed.
