Memory & Me In 2011, music legend Glen Campbell set out on an unprecedented tour across America. They thought it would last 5 weeks, instead it went for 151 spectacular sold out shows over a triumphant year and a half across America. What made this tour extraordinary was that Glen had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He was told to hang up his guitar and prepare for the inevitable. Instead, Glen and his wife went public with his diagnosis and announced that he and his family would set out on a “Goodbye Tour.” The film documents this amazing journey as he and his family attempt to navigate the wildly unpredictable nature of Glen’s progressing disease using love, laughter and music as their medicine of choice. Special appearances include Bruce Springsteen, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Bill Clinton among many others. In this informative and engaging presentation, Kathy O’Grady, LCSW and Brigitte Powidzki, RN want you to be aware of the issues surrounding memory loss. Is it normal to lose your keys so often? What is dementia vs. normal memory loss? Is dementia Alzheimer’s? Learn the different types of dementia and most importantly learn what to ask your doctor if you or your family is concerned. We will also be offering a mini memory screening to help get the conversation started. Stay for the movie and our post discussion afterwards. Monday, Dec 5 • 10:00am • No limit for lecture or movie 10 person limit for screening, pre-registration required • 10:00am Lecture • 11:00am Movie 12:30pm Post Discussion Brunch will be served after the lecture. • Brunch cost: $5.00

“Chicago’s Legendary Christmas Tree Ship” Luncheon by Rochelle Pennington All aboard! Author Rochelle Pennington is back by popular demand to deliver the true account of Chicago’s legendary Christmas Tree Ship, considered the most loved story of the Great Lakes over the past century. Pennington’s presentation will include original photographs and will focus on little-known facts, the story behind the story. Artifacts raised from the sunken ship will be on display, along with underwater photos of the ship in its current state at the bottom of Lake Michigan. “It is a story which exemplifies the best of humanity,” said Pennington. “At its heart we find courage, generosity, heroism, and the importance of family. The moment I first heard about the famed vessel, I understood why it had endeared itself to so many people and was still being shared a hundred years later.” Lunch will be served following the program. Lunch includes: grilled chicken, baked potato, salad and dessert. Monday, Nov 14 • 11:00am-1:00pm • $9M/$13.50NM
Unintended Impact - One Athlete’s Journey from Concussions and Amateur Football to CTE Dementia Author Jim Proebstle will be here to talk about his book Unintended Impact inspired by the tragic CTE dementia outcome from concussions in amateur football. “As an athlete, Dick was revered; yet, success turned traitor as the concussions received in high school and Big Ten (MSU) football led to a world of confusion, poor decision-making, and confinement defined by a wheelchair in a long-term facility. In his multiple levels of impaired functioning, the opportunity for Dick to “get it” – life, that is – was over. He just didn’t know it. Dick was my brother.” In 2016, with today’s focus on CTE, lack of knowledge is not acceptable. You won’t want to miss this presentation. Lunch will include a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw and dessert. Wednesday, Nov 30 • 12:00pm-2:00pm • $7M/$12NM
