In the Holiday Spirit... Hey Division 7, Lots of things have happened since the last newsletter. First of all, temperatures have dropped to new lows. Secondly, Generosity Rocks occurred less than a week ago. And finally, there is only four months left in the service year!
In this issue of Tomʼs Tribune, you can find a review of Generosity Rocks, a recap of Key Leader, as well as a preview of LTG Elections and information on how to become a distinguished officer. Weʼve done great things so far, keep up the great work!
I hope that all of you are having a warm and safe Tom Kraeutler holiday season with your families. However, as you enjoy the times, always remember that there are others who are not or cannot celebrate like the rest of the world. This time of year is perfect for warm clothing drives or hot chocolate sales to keep up the warm spirit of service.

Generosity Rocks Recap On Tuesday, December 21st, Key Clubbers from across Monmouth County descended upon Monmouth Regional High School’s Performing Arts Center for the first round of the Generosity Rocks musical competition. The show started at 6:30PM with a performance by the host club’s own Ion. The musical abilities of Division 7 were further shown through the talents of Jess Ubogiy, Man or Machine, and Dan Christian. While all nine acts were outstanding, only the top three could be chosen to move on to the next round. Those musicians were singer/guitarist Ion (Monmouth Regional), guitarist Dan Christian (Ocean), and pianist Shaina (MAST). At the end of the night, we had an excellent show and raised over $600 for Children’s Specialized Hospital! Many thanks to all of the performers who participated, along with the fans who showed up to watch and the clubs who advertised the event. Special thank yous to Calla Murphy and Reem Alsalman, presidents of St. Rose and Monmouth Regional, respectively, for being the Division 7 representatives on the judging panel.

So you want to become LTG... By Aimee Meissner, LTG Division 12 My term is almost up as Lieutenant Governor for this great Division, which means that this is the opportunity for one of YOU to become the next Lieutenant Governor! If you are an underclassman, with an unquenchable thirst for service, then perhaps you might like to consider running for Lieutenant Governor. I’ll be the first to tell you that it is a lot of work, but it is honestly the most rewarding thing you may ever have the chance to do. You will make new friendships, strengthen your leadership skills, and have the time of your life. Most importantly, you will be making a huge difference in the lives of others. Lieutenant Governors get together with the rest of the District Board, and are responsible for setting our fundraising goals, planning district events like Regional Training Conferences, Fall Rally, and District Convention, and much more. Of course, there is so much involved with being a Lieutenant Governor, too much for me to put in one article of course. However, if you are interested in running for the position of Lieutenant Governor, don’t hesitate to contact me so I can get you the necessary materials.

DISTINGUISHED OFFICERS By Neepam Shah, LTG Division 19 Every year, clubs the state over look forward to the epic Awards ceremony during the Saturday night of DCON. But, even though only a few clubs can win on Saturday Night, any club has the chance to be a winner during the Saturday Morning Awards Ceremony! That’s right, every year, outstanding club officers are recognized for their hard work and dedication to both the New Jersey District of Key Club and to Children’s Specialized Hospital! Of course, you may be asking yourself, “Am I eligible to be distinguished?” Well, if you’ve been doing your job as an officer, and have attended necessary District and Divisional events (like RTCs, OTCs, Fall Rally, and, if you’re President, PCMs), then you are certainly on the road to getting distinguished! All you have to do now is to keep up the amazing work for the remainder of your term in office! While with SATs, and, if you’re a senior, various scholarship applications, this may sometimes prove difficult, with proper time management, you can do it. Good luck and have great final few months in office!

But wait, thereʼs more! I know you may think it’s a little early to be thinking about what’s going on in April, but it’s never too early to start talking about District Convention! This year DCON will be held April 8th through 10th at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The price for this event is around $230. Now, you may be thinking, “What, $230 for a weekend!? That seems like a lot.” However, I can assure you that this is only a nominal fee. This price for DCON includes everything you need, including two nights in a hotel and every meal. Also at DCON, which this year has the theme of “Carnivale,” we will be having a Saturday Night Dance, a hypnotist, along with the elections for your 2011-2012 NJ District Board. Furthermore, if your club has not had any attendees to DCON in the past 3 years, you are eligible for a special offer. If you send three delegates to DCON, you will get a fourth ticket for free! This offer is a great opportunity to experience District Convention, which I know many of our clubs have not experienced. I’ll let you know which clubs are eligible for this offer soon. Secondly, the upcoming LTG Elections will be held in conjunction with the third PCM for Division 7. I am giving you plenty of time to alter your schedules, we I really hope we can have a great attendance at this PCM and at the Elections afterward.
