happy new year, division 1! Key Leader Recap Dec. 10-12, Camp Lebanon, NJ By Christopher Addonizio Co-Editor, Lower Cape May Regional

What do you get when you take 64 teenagers, three days at Camp Lebanon, and a dedicated group of Kiwanis leaders? Well first off very little sleep, but more importantly Key Leader. Key Leader is Kiwanis International's leadership education program for stu-

dents, primarily in high school. Its mission is to provide a "life-changing experience that inspires young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership. Continued on next page

A Message from Your

Lieutenant Governor Hello, Division 1! As this year closes, I’ve been thinking about 2010 and all the wonderful people I’ve met through Key Club. All of you have been easy and fun to work with, and I know you’ve been working hard with your members and officers. There are many great leaders in Division 1, and you all inspire me to be a better leader. When club elections come around in February, the new officers your clubs will elect will have some big shoes to fill!

Keep planning projects so that more of your members can serve. Also, please keep publicizing Generosity Rocks, and start planning for District Convention which is coming up in April. I hope you all enjoy the family time and relaxation time that remains this winter break! Yours in Caring and Service, Andre

Abby Leung, Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor of Division 1 DIVISION 1! Long time no see! I hope you all are having a wonderful service year and an amazing winter break! Here are some words of advice for the rest of the year for seniors and officers: Do not slack off! Key Club is a building block to what college is. You’re not given a lot of time in college, and it’s possible you might not be able to catch up if you fall behind. From experience, I know that in order to succeed, you have to be focused, determined, and diligent. For those seniors who are waiting for those acceptance letters, do

not fret! I remember anxiously waiting for my letters to come, and feeling so excited when I was accepted to my top colleges! Just wait patiently, and you will be surprised to see what can happen. College is a great experience so far, and I am enjoying every minute of it. I’m sure that you will too this coming fall. Good luck with the rest of your service year, and happy holidays! Your Immediate Past Lt. Governor, Abby Leung

Key Leader (continued) The six made aspects of being a key leader were leadership, integrity, growth, respect, community, and excellence. We learned and explored these different qualities through doing different activities and through our facilitator Wendy who is a Kiwanian now and was past Circle K International president. The activities we did challenged us to think in different ways about ourselves and about our community around us as well as taught us about teamwork. Going up with no one in my

school and only two other people in my division, I must say, I was really nervous. Of course I had no reason to be because while up there we all treated each other like great friends and got to meet a lot of people. The best part about the whole thing besides our “groovy” facilitator Wendy was that everyone there actually gave their best effort at everything and put all of their heart in it. They did this all with a positive attitude. Key Leader was definitely one of the best weekends of this year. 

Christopher (far right) and his neighborhood present a community they designed at Key Leader. Neighborhoods were like discussion groups/teams that Key Leader attendees were sorted into for the weekend.

Make the Generosity Rocks logo your Facebook profile picture. Call your friends, even those outside of Key Club, and ask them to go with you.

Tell your talented friends and classmates that in competing in Generosity Rocks, they have the opportunity to perform in front of people outside their own school! If they advance to the higher rounds, they will be able to perform to an even larger audience.
