There are many exciting events coming up in the month of December. The John. F Kennedy Memorial High School will be making Christmas cards for Veterans so that we can share the love of Christmas with the community. All the members of the Key Club will meet up and make loving cards using provided materials such as markers and construction paper. In addition, for the first time, key club members will have an opportunity to volunteer at a food bank. This will provide a more hands on way of giving back to the community.

Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child is one of the most anticipated events of the year. This year there was a large turnout of kids to make boxes. The donation for each box was seven dollars and about 30 members made boxes. A large set of supplies were set out on a table to put in the boxes. The students picked an age group and gender and decorated the box accordingly. Markers, crayons, and colored pencils were also provided to make a cute note for the child who would receive the box. Everyone made a note for their Christmas Child. Many students decided to work in pairs while making the boxes.

Operation Christmas Child The seven dollars that were put in the box were for the shipping of the box since they go to various countries. Each box was customized in a different way with unique items and decorations. Most of the members brought shoe boxes from home. The letters written were simply precious and the children will get that arm feeling that Christmas brings when they read them. Those are the things that make Key Club worth it. Operation Christmas Child is one of those things that you know will allow you to put a smile on someone else's face. The best gift that a person can give is a smile.

Volleyball Tournament An exciting Volleyball Tournament was held at ALJ High School in the month of November. All Key Clubs from Division 13 and 14 were welcome to participate. The John F Kennedy Key Club had three teams set out to win the tournament. Many players from the JFK Memorial High School were also members of the Varsity Volleyball team. A few of these students are Conner Freemen and Francesca Garrison. The admission fee was either five dollars or five pounds of food. Our school was on raffle duty. As a result of this tournament a lot of food was accumulated and all the key club members got to spend some quality time with one another.

Volleyball Tournament Many Key Club members including myself made lasting friendships during the tournament. The players had a great time. Those that were watching had a wonderful time as well. There were snacks and pizza at the event. Some of the snacks were even homemade such as the truffles and brownies. The players had some time to practice before the actual games began. The sportsmanship was impressive by every school and all in all it was a great event.

Until the Next issue... All in all, the month of November was a big month for the John F. Kennedy Memorial High School Key Club. Operation Christmas Child was a huge success and the Volleyball Tournament was a memorable bonding event. The school key club members really stepped up to represent their school in the tournament. They all had a ton of fun and would love to do it again in the future. December has a couple great events up it’s sleeve. The members will have the opportunity to volunteer at a food bank and they will make Christmas Cards for Veterans.
