Springing Forward With the warm weather finally coming around, the Key Club year of 20152016 is wrapping up. On April 3rd, the last day of the District Convention, the Key Club 2016-2017 year of service with start! That means new officers and a new year to make a bigger difference in our community! Thank you for all the great work this year!

2016-2017 Elections The election results for the 2016-2017 Key Club Officers will be announced soon. Candidates please keep an eye on your emails.

Next Kiwanis Meeting for Parents The Kiwanis Club of Greater Westfield is officially a club! Invite your parents and neighbors to the next Kiwanis meeting on Tuesday, April 5th at the Westfield YMCA (Room 201) at 6:30pm. If your parents have questions they can contact Susan Dougherty by email at crusadersue@hotmail.com


March for Babies – May 1st At our February meeting we discussed our participation in the March for Babies on May 1st at Rutgers Stadium to benefit March of Dimes. We decided that our team fundraising goal will be $3,500! All the money fundraised is going towards research to fight premature births! Make sure to sign up for the event and start sending the fundraising page around to family and friends to help us reach our goal! Follow the directions below to join the WHS Key Club 2016 Team online and start fundraising! 1) Go to this website

Autism Advocacy Advocacy – to speak on the behalf for those who cannot speak for themselves This year Key Club’s Advocacy Project is autism awareness. Autism Fact #6: “ASD is reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.” (CDC)

Bookworms for a Good Cause You’ve probably been to the Westfield Memorial Library Annual Book sale at least once before. Ever wonder how they manage all those books? It’s with the help of volunteers! If you are interested in helping out at the book sale please email or text the Key Club Officers. We would be volunteering at various times on April 26th – 30th.


DCON Contests – DATE EXTENDED TO WEDNESDAY MARCH 30th You can enter one of these contests even if you aren’t attending the convention! Hand them in in room 117! Any member who submits something to a contest will be given 2 service hours and a box of cookies at the next meeting! Please reach out to an officer before starting a project so that we can give the specific guidelines! Best Club T-Shirt Design (NEW!) This award recognizes the best club TShirt Design in the NJ District. Clubs must bring TWO identical t-shirts to be judged at District Convention upon arrival. Be creative and stand out!

Traditional Scrapbook Contest For this award, clubs design a traditional scrapbook of their Key Club service year. First, second, and third places will be awarded.

Non-Traditional Scrapbook Contest For this award, clubs design a nontraditional scrapbook of the Key Club service year. First, second, and third places will be awarded.

Digital Poster Contest Create a poster on the computer to recruit new Key Club members. It will be judged based on appearance and effectiveness of message. It should not bear the name of any school, community, or district.

Drawn Poster Contest Create a non-digital poster to recruit new Key Club members. It will be judged based on appearance and effectiveness of message. It should not bear the name of any school, community, or district.

Video Contest Create a video designed to promote Key Club, your Key Club, or both. It must be 30-60 seconds in length and must be VHS or DVD clip. The entry must be playable on a computer and a DVD player.
