Senior Open Letter to Key Club

My favorite thing about Key Club was being able to make a difference while making friends with new people at the same time. Many of the friends I made I would have never made if it weren’t for Key Club. By going to fall rally, DCON, and other events, I was able to meet new people as well as get to know people in school I normally wouldn’t have without Key Club. My favorite high school experience overall was defiantly key club.

Operation Gratitude Kristen Adamowitz, the club’s secretary, has taken the lead with one of the new projects. ALJ Key Club will be collecting various items for the American service women and men. The collection will be running this month and hours will vary depending on the item. But the main focus is to help our troops out and give them a feeling of home with some comfort items and basic necessities. Any questions ask Kristen or Mrs. Zamboni.

Nursing Home Visit On Saturday the 13th, Key Clubbers went to the Genesis Nursing Home to play Bingo and meet some new people. The senior citizens there loved our company and it brought joy to their day to play a few rounds of Bingo. Key Clubbers paired up with a senior citizen and helped them play Bingo in anyway possible. Whether it was helping them move the bingo chips or helping them find the called out number, everyone’s efforts were greatly appreciated. The event was a great success and the students were able to make some friends with interesting stories.

General Elections

On March 3rd, students wanting to run for a position on the board must present a short campaign speech at the afterschool meeting. A few tips for running: 

Make it fun! Hand out small goodies and buttons like President Kristina did last election! Be real; tell the club why you love Key Club and how much it means to you. Share! Tell us about yourself and share some ideas you have for next year.

Good luck everyone!

Jared Boxes On the 17th, Key Clubbers met at 7pm for the night meeting and to help construct Jared Boxes. There was a young child named Jared who had cancer and would always bring a box of toys whenever he had to get treatment at the hospital. Jared always noticed that the other children had no toys to play with at the hospital. Sadly, Jared lost his fight and his family has kept his legacy alive with Jared Boxes. Key Clubbers brought in small toys and plastic boxes to make a few boxes. We had nearly ten boxes at the end of the meeting. ALJ Key Club will be continuing this project into the following months so please help out!
