A Helping Hand Sometimes we fail to realize how lucky we really are. The John F. Kennedy Memorial High School is collecting standard household items to help the refugees from countries such as Syria, Cuba, Columbia, Iraq, and Somalia that are right here in New Jersey. We have asked the members of the club to bring at least one item to the meeting on October 16th. If every one makes a small contribution it can lead to an enormous difference. The items are simple and effective for some one going through the every day struggles in life. Students may also ask their family, friends and teachers if they would like to contribute to this cause. The donations are not limited to those in Key Club. Most of Linens and Household Supplies Bath towels Bed sheets Warm blankets Pillows Pillow cases Alarm clocks Paper Pens Pencils Pencil cases

Cleaning Supplies

Toiletries

Dish soap Bathroom / kitchen cleansers Laundry detergent Sponges or cleaning rags Paper towels Mop Broom Dustpan

Toilet paper Shampoo Soap Toothbrushes Toothpaste

the people that have come from the other countries mentioned have faced a violation of basic human rights. This donation will be our way of giving these people a shoulder to lean on through their hardships. Although we may not always be able to be there with them physically for support, we can give them necessary materials that will make their lives here in New Jersey much easier. Imagine if someone gave you a box of item that would make your life ten times easier. Isn’t it worth offering a helping hand? As the Key Club our main goal is to do good for our community. This items drive will accomplish that goal. We will be helping refugees in our very own New Jersey community.

Fall Rally Fall Rally will be on October 11th this year. Permission slips must be submitted by October 7th. There is very limited space so this event is a first come first serve. All the members coming should arrive at JFK Memorial High School by 7 AM. Tickets are $42 . The members will spend from 8 AM to 10 AM learning about the Key Club and meeting students as well as advisors

from the other clubs in New Jersey. It will in effect allow all Key Club members to be acquainted with each other. It is a great opportunity for the members to form a larger network of contacts for Key Club. After the meeting the students are free to enjoy the day in six flags with their fellow members.

Melanoma Walk

"Cancer didn't bring me to my knees, it brought me to my feet." ~Michael Douglas

The Melanoma Walk will take place on October 18th. The cost to participate is going to be five dollars. We encourage all members to participate in the walk because it will help those whose lives have been affected by Melanoma. In the walk all the club members will walk as one unit serving our commu-

nity. It will be a great club bonding activity because we can talk and have fun during the walk. If enough members participate those five dollars each person will add up to a significant donation for melanoma.
