President’s Message Key Clubbers, On October 11th, thousands of Key Clubbers met at Fall Rally to commemorate the start of the service year. As a district, we collected over 1,710 pounds of food! The event was a huge success and we did an amazing job at being the host club. We would like to thank everyone who helped make Fall Rally possible. All of the decorations and posters looked great! October also signifies the beginning of preparation for our annual Holiday Dinner, which will be hosted on Friday, November 20th. This year, we are excited to work with SEA, French Alliance, and FBLA. We hope that our combined efforts will help make a difference in the lives of those who rely on Hands of Hope Food Pantry. If you know of any restaurant that would be willing to donate to our event, please let us know. I hope to see everyone at the Holiday Dinner!

FALL RALLY On October 11, Key Clubbers from around the state met in Six Flags Amusement Park to share ideas about upcoming service projects. Because the theme of Fall Rally was Oh, The Service You’ll Do!, a play on Dr. Seuss’ books, the Lieutenant Governors dressed up as Dr. Seuss characters, and Governor Josie was dressed as Cat in the Hat. The District Board shared its 2015-2016 project Fight Against Hunger. Key Clubbers brought in canned donations, and members from Circle-K and Kiwanis spoke about the impact that we were all making. Great job Key Clubbers, and we hope to see you there next year!

Key Club Holiday Dinner What’s a Holiday Dinner? Every year, JP students gather together to celebrate the holidays and help less fortunate families. This year, all donations will be going to the Hands of Hope food pantry, a local food pantry that provides Thanksgiving meals to other families

When is it? The event takes place on Friday, November 20.

Is Key Club the only club participating? No, Key Club has partnered up with FBLA, French Alliance, and SEA this year to make the event even bigger.

What kind of food is there? We serve many types of cuisines; in the past, we have received donations from restaurants such as Chipotle, Charlie Browns’ Steakhouse, and What’s the Scoop. We provided dozens of dishes and desserts ranging from ice cream to cake

What type of entertainment is there? We’ve also partnered up with Tri-M Honor Society, so there will be performances from the choir, band, and orchestra

Key Leader Imagine a weekend in the woods with about 65 Key Clubbers learning about service, leadership, and having fun while doing it – that is exactly what Key Leader is! This year, from December 4th December 6th, Kiwanis is sponsoring their annual Key Leader in Camp Cross Roads in Port Murray, NJ! As mentioned, about 65 students join together for a weekend to learn about what it means to be a leader. From ropes courses to informative workshops, Key Leader is an overall amazing experience! At Key Leader you are able to meet teens from all over New Jersey who share a passion for service just like you! The friendships and bonds you form at Key Leader are incredible. The great thing is that not just Key Clubbers attend – students not in Key Club as well as 8th Graders can join in on the fun! If a student has attended a Key Leader prior to this year, they are able to sign up as a Student Facilitator. At Key Leader, students break off into groups called “neighborhoods” and Student Facilitators are in charge of neighborhoods. The neighborhood will have to create their own mascots, posters, and will be taking part in team building activities together. The Student Facilitators will get a discounted price of about $115 of what would be $200 for non Key Clubbers and $175 for Key Clubbers. The money goes towards food, lodging and activities throughout the weekend. It is truly a life changing experience, and you get to meet so many amazing people!
