IHO BOARDING HOME NEWS
This term has been long and busy, but incredibly rewarding and satisfying with copious amounts of activities, tests, assignments and extra-curricular events happening every week. Iho girls have once again done us proud in their achievements and retaining focus and acquiring the energy to undertake all that they do. Having a passion is the foundation for creating identity, which is absolutely crucial for the mental health of teenage girls. Sometimes finding that passion can take time, but through the numerous experiences these girls have been exposed to this term, they are certainly setting themselves up for a strong foundation. Happy holidays!

OSULLOC TRIP
We are so lucky to have some wonderful places within walking distance of our school! Our year 5 and 6 girls recently went to the Osulloc, a famous tea brand with fields across Jeju island. Aside from enjoying the walk in the wonderful weather, the girls were able to have a great time travelling through the lush green tea fields.
Chatting to pass the time while drinking teas with dazzling and jazzy colours purchased from the amazing Innisfree cafe also on site, the girls had a great time and even made a short video that can be found on the instagram page!

Weekend Cooking
Over the term, the Lighthouse cafe was filled with the fragrant smell of food, and laughter. Iho girls have done lots of cooking with Bunny and other staff members.
The girls made Marachun with Bunny. who eagerly taught year 7 and 8s with her knowledge on the Chinese culture. The girls also made pancakes with Bunny.
This week, some girls made biscuit with Ms Washington, and the joy never left the house.
Iho girls made a wonderful time making foods and enjoying the process. Malachuan, pancakes, cookies, and making biscuits was really fun and we would like to try it next weekend too.

Parent Tea
On the 24th of February 2023, we hosted our first IHO parent tea in two years! We had the opportunity to meet many of the parents of our awesome girls!! As you can see from the photos, our catering company prepared delicious British snacks: cucumber sandwiches, ham and cheese croissants, strawberry pastries, brownies, blueberry scones, and a variety of drinks!
Many of the IHO students prepared entertainment for the parents showcasing their exceptional talent. It was absolutely beautiful! Special thanks to the girls who participated and played their instruments with wonderful skill!
The highlight of the afternoon had to be watching the videos made from across the year groups in our boarding home that were totally made by students which were hilarious We hope that everyone enjoyed this event! Please look forward to more of these!

Olle Trail & Junior Gardening
On a bright spring morning the Iho boarders embarked upon an exciting journey to one of the exceptional Olle trails. In each year group students were assigned different roles. Leading up to the walk, students were expected to prepare information that would be shared across the group as they completed the walk. The students were amazing and worked so hard on understanding things. While enjoying the beautiful scenery and wonderful weather, students also learned about the history of the area and read the information about ‘Dark Tourism’ written on notice boards along the trail. The view was amazing!
After completing the intense trail of nearly 10km, students relaxed and unwound in nearby cafes and restaurants before making their way back to the school.
Celebrating the beginning of sunny days, our junior boarders worked hard to plant some daffodils outside of the Iho house building. They were accompanied by some of the year 7 kids who helped support them and encouraged them along the way. They did a fantastic job and we look forward to seeing how the area comes along!

Leadership
We wish to thank our current Year 11's for their work this year in helping to build Iho's culture of care and connection. They have led by example and always stepped up to help the house. They will still work at the helm of Iho until week 3 next term, and then our current Year 10's will take over. Congratulations to: Angela Kim (Home Captain), Alyssa Seo (Events captain), Hannah Kim (Wellbeing captain), Grace Han (Media captain), and Heylin Oh (Academic captain). Also, our Year 11 representatives on the home committee are Louisa Kim and Jihu Lee. As we said to the girls, the strength of this year group is their team unity and we look forward to seeing amazing things.
Here is Gabby our current house leader passing over the 'baton' of leadership to our new Year 10 leaders:)
