PRINCIPAL’S LETTER

Welcome to all our returning students and new students across the School! We also extend our welcome to our new members of faculty with their families who joined our community some 2 weeks ago and have been inducted in the School community.

We are also delighted that both our IB Diploma Results announced at the beginning of July are once more exceptional and details can be found on the website. Our graduates of 2022 are now preparing to start their undergraduate programmes in their chosen universities. We wish them all every success. Hot off the press are our IGCSE results which are also outstanding and further details will follow! We wish all our students and our community a happy, successful and healthy 2022-23.

We have had a fantastic start to the new academic year with excited students involved in their houses as well meeting their teachers for 2022-23 and engaged in their lessons. There has been a really exciting buzz around the school! As usual students have been involved in many activities over the summer with some gaining experience as interns in a variety of different professions and others engaged in volunteer and charity work. Their stories will follow in the coming weeks.

Here are the biggest stories from around the School this week. The Main Event Welcome to the start of 2022-23! We are delighted to welcome back our returning students from the Summer Holiday. We hope they all had a relaxing break and are refreshed for the new academic year. A warm welcome goes to all our new students and our new teachers who have joined the NLCS Jeju family. We are pleased to introduce to you, Mr. Crispian Waterman, Vice Principal (Pastoral). Mr. Waterman joins us from an international school in Thailand where he was the Director of Boarding. He has many years’ of teaching experience. Mr. Waterman has a BSc (Hons) Zoology and has a keen interest in conservation and is looking forward to exploring Jeju and discovering it’s unique flora and fauna with his wife and two children.

School Renovations Our Operations Team has been busy coordinating lots of improvements over the summer. From general maintenance, redecorating and deep cleaning. All works are to schedule and will be completed in the next few weeks or months. We thank you for your patience but we know the end results will be worth the wait and hope disruptions will be minimal. Cultural Awareness Committee is asking you to share your culturally important dates and events with us so that we can include them on our calendar. Our intention is to include as many of these events as possible in our acknowledgements and celebrations throughout the year. We are particularly interested in cultural events that have not previously been celebrated by the whole school community.
