Global Engagement
Developing a global
perspective in all students is a commitment at Northfield Mount Hermon. The Global Engagement Office (GEO) supports NMH’s study abroad programs, international student support and services, and globally themed programming. GEO strives to attend to the needs and interests of our diverse multinational and multicultural student body.
Study Abroad Opportunities Our study abroad programs advance NMH’s mission to provide a wellgrounded education of the head, heart, and hand. They challenge students to engage deeply when traveling in a different country and culture through activities that balance action and reflection. GEO offers a range of interdisciplinary, discipline-specific, career exploration, and service-learning programs that enhance students’ understanding of the course content. In previous years, we have traveled to countries including, but not limited to, Argentina, Belgium, Belize, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, France, Ghana, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, and Uruguay. Participation is selective and by application.

International Programming and Hosting Visiting International Students GEO sponsors campuswide programs to promote global engagement, including inviting presenters through the Wantman Family State of the World Speaker Series, organizing annual events such as the International Carnival celebration, Lunar New Year dinner, and International Dessert Night.
International Student Support and Services Our international student services program aims to meet the needs of our international students and their families. We provide immigration advising and support, conduct a new international student orientation at the beginning of the year, and regularly communicate with international students and families.
With the assistance of a select group of international student leaders, known as Global Ambassadors (GAs), GEO supports international students from when they are first transitioning as new students until they graduate from NMH. The GAs serve as peer mentors and assist international students on campus by referring students to appropriate campus resources, planning activities and programs, and encouraging their international peers to become involved and engaged members of the NMH community.
