DISTRICT NEWS November 2011
Superintendent Micheal E. Dickenson
I love the diversity of our churches! We are all part of the Assemblies of God and share the same fundamental beliefs, which are the foundation of our “common strengths.”
The Countdown Has Begun! The countdown has already begun! As a child growing up, our countdown began the day the Sears and Roebuck Catalog (some of you donʼt remember that) showed up in the mail. For many businesses across America, it started several weeks ago. Iʼm talking about the countdown until Christmas, and yes, it will be here before you know it! Then, weʼll blink a couple of times and it will be the start of a brand new year. Wow! Since this will be our last District News before the end of the year, I want to take this opportunity to express to each of you, our ministers and churches of New Mexico, how blessed Becky and I are to be able to serve you. In our recent presbyterʼs meeting, I took a few minutes at the beginning to review the Mission and Vision of our district, which is detailed in our District Yearbook on page 3. Part of our vision as expressed there is “… appreciating the diversity of our churches, building on our common strengths, and exploring all possibilities in order to fulfill the mission of Christ.” I find it easy not only to embrace these priorities, but to be
mdickenson@nmaog.org passionate about our roles here in the District Office to partner with each of you in these areas. I love the diversity of our churches! We are all part of the Assemblies of God and share the same fundamental beliefs, which are the foundation of our “common strengths.” However, our churches and ministries are as diverse as the cultures and communities we serve.
about what is happening in our state. I urge you to reach higher than ever before; dream bigger than you ever have; and together with God, letʼs continue to explore every possibility of getting the job done in our churches and ministries.
In just a few days weʼll be celebrating Thanksgiving. May God give us all hearts filled with It truly is our joy to journey with you gratitude, not only to God for His as together we “…explore all bounty but to one another as well possibilities in order to fulfill the for the many graces shared. And mission of Christ.” Exploring all then, in just a few weeks we will possibilities is not always an easy once again celebrate Christmas. As task. We really donʼt live in a “one we remember and reflect on what size fits all world” and so weʼre this season is all about, may God constantly praying and searching give us all a renewed sense of its and learning and growing and meaning. Because of Godʼs gift and dreaming together about how to get sacrifice, we have life; and because the job done. of this, we have the only message of hope for our world today. Letʼs We are here to serve with you as share it and fulfill His mission! we journey to fulfill the mission of Christ. Thank you for allowing us May Godʼs richest blessings be to serve! And, thank you for your yours today and throughout this faithful service in ministry across incredible season of the year. New Mexico. While I realize there are always challenges in ministry, I We love you and pray Godʼs best for you! have never been more excited

Secretary/Treasurer Marcus McClain
I was reminded of our Districtʼs commitment to educate future clergy and just how the New Mexico School of Ministry (NMSOM) is integral in helping us meet our Districtʼs goals.
Locate, Educate and Motivate Our New Mexico District Vision Statement outlines our goals as follows, “…we, the New Mexico District, commit ourselves to the Mission, the Minister, and the Movement, recognizing the importance to Locate, Educate, and Motivate. As Brother Mike and I were contemplating our New Mexico District Vision statement recently, I was reminded of our Districtʼs commitment to educate future clergy and just how the New Mexico School of Ministry (NMSOM) is integral in helping us meet our Districtʼs goals. Currently, of the 132 Ordained AG ministers in New Mexico, 19 ministers, or 14.39%, are under the age of 44. Nationally, the figure is 16.39%. This means that the vast majority of ordained AG ministers are over age 44. We need to ordain many more ministers under the age of 44, and I know we can because we are dedicated to doing so. The NMSOM effort has been blessed with a resolved commitment from its volunteer instructors, mentors, churches, and District leadership, such that I can see NMSOM will have a direct and positive impact on these ordination figures here in New Mexico. If the majority of students from just this first year of
mmcclain@nmaog.org NMSOM continue to complete the educational requirements and go on to meet the credentialing requirements, we could have 30 or more ordained ministers by 2013. Our students are more than qualified, motivated, and diligent enough to meet the challenge, and I hope they do. Equally important is the dedication to spiritual growth and maturity I see in our students. They have an earnest desire to live Christ-like lives and bring others to a full knowledge of the saving grace of God. I feel good about the future church; it is in capable hands.
what your church may be able to do to provide tuition assistance to its NMSOM students. One church has already made provisions in its budget to help its students with tuition and textbook costs. What a blessing this has been to those students. I challenge other churches to ponder how they may be able to assist their students.
NMSOM is on just its first leg of what I hope will be a farreaching venture, and I ask for your help as we extend the NMSOM experience to additional students who feel the call of God to ministry. Please prayerfully consider
May God bless you BIG!
Lastly, Iʼd like to establish a NMSOM scholarship annuity program to help students with a demonstrated financial need. Let me know if you may be able to help with this effort.

Credential Renewals It’s Renewal Time! Renewal forms are being printed at this time, and you should be receiving yours this month. If you do not receive your form from the General Secretaryʼs Office by December 1, please contact my office or go online to download a form. You may find a form at www.ag.org. Click on “Renewal Forms.” Note: You are now able to renew online; however, you must print both copies of your form and mail to our office for processing which requires signature of the Secretary/Treasurer as well as the $25.00 renewal fee to NMDC. Here is a list of helps to assist you in completing the process: *Donʼt procrastinate! Make it a priority to renew as soon as you receive your form. The deadline for renewal is December 31, 2010 and the office will be closed for the holiday this date. All renewals must be postmarked no later than this date! Renewals received in our office after December 31 will be charged a late fee of $50 in addition to the $25 renewal fee. *Be sure to read and follow all of the instructions carefully! This will insure that your renewal can be processed without delay. Remember to sign your renewal! This is the #1 mistake that causes delays each year. *All financial requirements to both the General and District Councils must be current in order to renew credentials. The General Council dues are $240, Licensed/Specialized $180, Certified $90.00 The District is 8% of all ministerial income (salary and housing) or the minimum requirements which are the same but in addition to the General Council dues. Please make separate checks for General & District Council. *Please note all Senior Retired ministers must renew but are not subject to dues or renewal fees.
*Forward both copies of your renewal to the District Secretaryʼs Office. We will process and forward to the General Council. All credentials require our signature prior to being sent to General Council! DO NOT MAIL FORMS DIRECTLY TO GENERAL COUNCIL AS THIS WILL DELAY YOUR RENEWAL AND COULD CAUSE YOU TO LAPSE. *And again, DONʼT PROCRASTINATE! Allow plenty of time for your renewal to reach our office. Remember that this all takes place during the Holiday Season, so help us help you by getting your renewal in immediately! If you have additional questions, please contact Devonna 899-5399. SALARY/HOUSING DESIGNATIONS Prior to January ʻ11, your board should update the minutes to reflect changes in salary and housing packages for the Pastor and all staff. These items should be documented to insure IRS requirements are met. BOOKS CLOSE Please note the District & NM Church Builders books will close December 28 at 2:00 p.m. Please assist us by having all payments to the office prior to this day so that we can process year-end postings. Thank you! WORLD MISSIONS CREDIT FOR SPRINGFIELD
Monies that have been given through the District Office are reported on your behalf every quarter. However, if there are other items to report for World Missions Credit, and they meet the General Council requirements, please contact our office and request a form by December 1. We must have these returned to the District Secretary/Treasurerʼs Office *In addition to your dues, remember to attach your by to December 31, in order to process your giving $25 renewal fee to your form and mark your check request for year 2010. Please feel free to contact accordingly. Renewal checks are payable to NMDC. Devonna at (505) 899-5399 or dcummins@nmaog.org if you have further *Donʼt be late! Renewals received after January questions. 15th are lapsed, and will require the minister to apply for reinstatement. This requires that the minister meet the District Presbytery, and pay an additional reinstatement fee of $100.00

Women’s Ministries Becky Dickenson Touch The World
Touch The World
In order for your giving to go toward the annual Christmas checks for our missionaries, please send your funds to the District Office by December 27. Touch the World funds must be received in the office no later than December 27 to be credited in 2010. Your gift is not only a show of blessing and appreciation but it is also vital to the continuation of the various ministries represented by our New Mexico (U.S.) & World Missionaries.

Thank you SALLY! As most of you know, our New Mexico District Girls Ministries Coordinator, Sally Frazee, has tendered her resignation. Sally has enthusiastically served in this position since the spring of 2001 and has nurtured and encouraged countless young women to listen for and respond to the voice of God. As someone who has had the privilege of working closely with Sally, I can honestly say I have rarely seen such dedication and energy poured out of such a little package and into such a vast calling. Her tireless efforts, along with the unwavering support of her husband Lee, have brought Girls Ministries to a greater level of ministry and depth. Sally, Tina and I will miss your weekly visits and your easy laughter. We will be praying for God’s direction as you pursue all that He has yet in store for you. In His Service,
Becky Dickenson 5

Dear New Mexico Pastors and Congregations, After many months of sharing the passion and call God has put in our hearts to reach the children and youth of Brazil, we are excited to announce that our bags are almost all packed, and we leave the country Thanksgiving day! God has done amazing things in this past year and a half, and we praise Him for a wonderful itineration journey! We are learning Portuguese and getting our family ready for a new chapter. Pastors, thank you for opening the doors and giving us the opportunity to share with your congregations. Without your prayer support and including us in your missions budget, we wouldnʼt be heading for our mission field in record time! We enjoyed the times of fellowship and pray for you and your communities. We are so grateful and proud to be from the New Mexico District. Letʼs continue to harvest together and reach this generation … because Jesus saves, heals, baptizes in the Holy Spirit and is coming soon! Your New Mexico missionaries, Esdras, Michelle, Natalia & Celeste Orantes
