How to use a city bike

ELECTRIC VILKKU CITY BIKES are perfect for getting from one place to another.

With a city bike, you can make an unlimited number of 30-minute rides around central Kuopio. You will be charged an extra fee if you use the bike for more than 30 minutes at a time.
The pass for the whole cycling season is 50 euros, for a month 20 euros, for a week 10 euros and for a day 5 euros. You can rent and return a bike through the Freebike app.
Available bikes can also be located through the app.
BIKES CAN BE returned to the designated city bike stations or to virtual stations. An extra fee of one euro will be charged if you return the bike somewhere else. Everyone over the age of 15 can use the city bikes.
STEP BY STEP:
Download the Freebike app free of charge from the app store on your Android or Apple device.
Register as a user. At this point, you can also adjust the power settings for the electrical assistance and enter your credit card, Waltti card or other local card information for your profile. You will receive a personal cyclist ID and a PIN code.
Scan the bike’s QR code with your smartphone application or with a contactless card. The lights on the bike first turn green and then red. After this, the bike is ready for use.
Drive safely for a maximum of 30 minutes. You will be charged extra if you use the bike for more than 30 minutes.
If you pop into a store, you can set the bike on pause mode and the bike will be reserved for you. Note, that even when using the pause mode, your 30-minutes will still be running.
Park your bike on a designated bike station or at a virtual station. You will be charged an extra 1 € if you return the bike somewhere else.
Remember to return the bike through the application or by quickly pressing the handbrake for three times. When the lights go out, the bike has been successfully returned.
If you wish to rent another bike, just go to a designated city bike station or check the app for the closest available bike near you.
