RESEARCH We began the research process by conducting in-depth interviews with sophomore-aged college students to gain insights on their needs, pain points, schedules, and current soft-good solutions. We mapped out timelines showing opportunities for design in our users’ daily lives. .
(7:00) homework
(10:30) brush teeth, go to bed
TAKEAWAYS
users are all active in some capacity on a day-to-day basis
users have trouble balance their work and leisure tasks

NEW MISSION
How might we design a soft goods solution for active college students that can seamlessly and efficiently improve transitions between activities?

INSIGHTS We discovered 3 key insights from user research that would steer us in the correct direction for design. Following this, we conducted market research to determine any gaps in the current product landscape. We found there was an opportunity to design a product to facilitate active college lifestyles.
IDEATION After revising the problem statement, I used a Lotus Blossom technique to develop over 50 possible solutions. I then refined these concepts and chose 5 of the most successful to move forward with.
PROTOTYPING We then created physical prototypes to determine scale and functionality of our concepts. Learning to sew was a large undertaking for me but I came out of this phase feeling much more confident.
