In This Issue P. 1 A Letter From Your LTG P. 2 Divisional News P.3 Dear Division 28 P. 4 Contacts
A Letter From Your LTG Hello lovely Division 28! Summer has started! I hope all you clubs have installed new officers. Update your COCRFs as soon as you can! This allows not only me, but anyone on the District Board to contact you all. I'm only a month into my term and I am already so proud of you guys. From what I've seen everyone is very energetic and ready to make this a great year. I don't quite know what it is but even the LTGs are pumped up and way ahead of schedule this year. I have to say, it's exciting to be part of so much enthusiasm. Summer Board is coming up for me, which means a whole slew of training and decision-making to update you guys with after June 15th. Get ready! Our new board is pretty epic, so who knows what will be accomplished that weekend. I'll tell you all about in my next newsletter.
Yes, I am looking at you.
One last thing. I will be in Dallas from June 10th to July 15th, and then at College Station until the 23rd. What does this mean for you? Not much. Just I won't be able to visit clubs during this time. But I finally got a laptop (woohoo!) so I'll be able to keep in contact. Remember, ask me anything! I love answering questions, and if I don't already know the answer to something, I'm more than happy to find out for you. Thanks for bearing with me, and lots of love,
Nancy Huang
Divisional News FIRST PCM This past Saturday, May 26, I had my first PCM! I want to give a big thank-you to everyone who attended. It wouldn't have been nearly a success without you. <3
Dear Division 28
Next time I want even more clubs to attend! The stuff that we go over is valuable information that everyone in Division 28 needs to know, and just having the agendas and handouts is not nearly enough. For those of you who didn't come, email me for any clarifications or explanations that you may have.
DIVISIONAL PROJECT UPDATE In progress! Those of you who went to the PCM already know this, but I want to create a scholarship to help parents who are sending their kids to the Westview School, which is a nonprofit that helps autistic kids learn to have a normal life. I'm still getting in contact with the Westview people, so it's not official yet, but everything will be settled this month, I promise! <3
KEY LEADER
CLUB VISITS I finally got to meet some of you this month! Ross S. Sterling's new officers conducted their first meeting and did a really great job. Clear Lake High had elections too. Congratulations to the new officers! You other schools need to invite me as well! The reason the LTG position even exists is so that Key Club isn't just some huge, looming organization to you guys, but something made of actual people. I need to meet you all in person! <3
This summer, June 22nd-24th, you should attend Key Leader at SMU. This is a life-changing, confidence-building, speaker skills-improving, ambition-driving session at the Southern Methodist University that Key Club Governors from across the nation have testified to. As there is no longer WOAL, this is one of the only opportunities left in our area for leadership training. As Key Club members, you guys all get discounts as well! Key Leader will not stick around for next year if not enough people participate, so register ASAP!
Dear Division 28, Let's hope your summers are full of awesome plans for relaxation! But before you wind down and vegetate, don't forget about your Key Club! Continue sending in those monthly reports. You guys did great this month; I got reports from almost all of you. Don't forget to decorate the envelope and do the Task O' Month for extra points! (This month: make a children's coloring book. One page and kid-friendly is all that's necessary.) Again, if anything confuses you about filling out those forms, don't be afraid to ask me! Again, ALL CLUBS -- don't forget to update COCRFs! This is not just for me to stalk you, but for anyone on the district board to contact you. Continue staying active through the summer! Right now is the time to raise money to sponsor all your school-year activities. The weather is right for car washes and ice cream stalls and picnic socials. Don't forget to stay in touch! Check your emails and check Facebook. I might even be doing vlog posts soon, depending on how long it takes me to figure out this laptop. Nancy is a bit technologically illiterate.
Meanwhile, here are two great causes you ought to keep in mind. Key Clubs from across the nation and state will all be participating in these, so you'll be part of a greater effort to serve your greater community. If your club does anything this summer, do these projects. PROJECT ELIMINATE Kiwanis International and UNICEF have partnered up to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from around the world! All it takes is a $1.80 vaccine that has already stopped MNT in 21 countries. Raise awareness and fundraise to help meet the goal of $110M. For ideas on how to help, check out these Club Toolkits. Also, here's a pocket guide about Eliminate to hand out to your club members. (:
