Evaluation

Evaluation My task was to create a short film that had to last for at least 2 minutes. This was my preliminary film. My film is about a guy who is dating two girls at the same time but at the end he gets dumped. My initial idea was to create a film about parents evening or an interview but this idea was very common as most people in the class came up with this idea, therefore I chose to do speed dating. The person who influenced me to do this film was Ms. Barron. I liked this idea because no one in the class was going to do it. I created a storyboard, dialogue script and a plan script to help me make my film. However, my film did not match with my storyboard. This is because I changed some scenes and some dialogue, the changes that were made, made my film look better and sound more realistic. I couldn’t change the storyboard and dialogue again because it was all put on blog and already marked. The equipment I used was the video camera and the tripod. The genre of my film was romcom. I managed the group dynamics, equipment and resources by ensuring that after I finished filming, putting it all on the computer and editing it. This helped my film look more professional looking and I cut off the scenes that I didn’t want. This also helped me insert audios that I wanted whether I wanted them high or low and putting music in the background. This put a better effect on my film. I did not manage to organize my human resources properly as I had props in the room which were not needed. This had an effect on my filming because it didn’t make it look professional. This is something that I need to look out for next time as it could have an effect on my future grades in any other films that I create. There were no health and safety problems that I had to solve because most of my filming was done in one room. In my film, I had 3 actors in total. Only 1 character had to be in a specific type of costume which had to be formal (blazer and trousers) and the other two characters had to be in normal casual costumes which is what they wear usually, this is part of the props. The other props that I used were a table, chairs, mobile phone and paper. The location of my film was in my school but I had another two scenes of a café and a house that I also included. Time management was a big issue with my film, this is because every time I wanted to film, someone of my group would be missing. This meant that I had to rearrange different times to film so that I got everyone that I needed, however at the end, I managed to collect everyone. I edited my film on final cut pro (a programme used for editing). Technology enabled me to develop a creative film because this is what I depended on to put on the finishing touches that I needed such as cutting out scenes that I didn’t want, adding music in the background, disabling and enabling audio etc. This type of technology prevented me by having any parts that I didn’t want but most importantly, it gave my film a creative flow. My response to the original brief was positive. This is because I enjoyed watching my film and I think that with the changes I have made, I have made my film look better. The audience also enjoyed watching it by their feedback and responses that they gave me.
