About me Profil

What skills do I bring along?

My name is Norbert Jundt. In the summer term 2015, I did my masters degree in architecture and urban planning at the University of Stuttgart with the mark “very good“.

In the course of my studies as well as during my practical working experiences, I contributed to many diverse projects of different sizes. Creating 2D drawings with Vectoworks or Adobe Illustrator, and modelling 3D models with Rhino.ceros belong to my strengths.

In my masters degree programme, I focused on design and construction, since both aspects are essential components of each and every draft. For me it is important to pay attention to the individual requirements of users and places as well as to sustainable construction principles when it comes to the designing process.

I can support the team with my visualisation skills with V-Ray and Photoshop in the depiction of drafts. Last year, I was responsible for a reconstruction in my private environment and could therefore gain further practical experiences. Redesigning a bathroom and a kitchen under own management gave me the opportunity to bring in my skills, too.

Before my masters degree I had done the masters of Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH). In this programme I contributed to the implementation of the Research Pavilion 2013 I 14 – where I also wrote my bachelors thesis - and had the opportunity to work with computer-based designing processes. In this regard, I could also improve my knowledge by attending workshops at the AA Rome Visiting School.

During my studies as well as at work it was a pleasure for me to work in teams many times.

My expectations and objectives in the office I am searching for an office with friendly, competent and motivated colleagues, as well as with a pleasant and productive working atmosphere.

During the first two years of my bachelors programme at the University of Stuttgart I enjoyed a basic study of high quality, and in the following international year I had the opportunitiy to go to the IIT in Chicago and do an internship at Foster+Partners in London.

The international exchange at work is very important to me since I am convinced of the fact that the diverse infuences from all over the world could lead to a more exciting architecture of higher quality.

Even during my studies I stayed practically oriented. Beside my nine-month internship at Foster+Partners, I had been working at Knippers and Helbig as a working student for one year. Further short-term internships followed, for example at Philippe Rahm in Paris.

I am always motivated to set myself new goals and support the team with my skills. For the next years, I am aiming at going through the whole formation process - from the first draft up to the completion of the building.

Especially, the experiences in diverse companies showed me different methods and approaches for designing processes, and have given me a better understanding of the complexity of architecture. These experiences helped me creating own systematics for my drafts.

I am expecting to be supported in improving my skills by my supervisor, and I am willing to rise to the challange of an increasing responsibility.

I am motivated to improve my so far acquired knowledge with new experiences to eventually create a strong stance towards architecture.

also listen to modern classical music made by Hans Zimmer, Nino Rota and all the other componists of soundtracks.

A new philharmonic orchestra in Munich is plannend by the city and the Federal State Bavaria. The city has two of all orchestras in the whole world. Both orchestras have to share one concert hall with a meanly accustic and a non-representive building.

To draw the interest of young people to classical music, the programme needs to be extended. The music of the soundtracks has to get integrated and staged into the philharmonic orchestra.

To find a solution for both orhestras it is necessary to renovate the old concert hall and to build a new represantive philharmonic orchestra in the city of Munich. The concept is to create a new musical district with the old philharmonic orchestra and the new building.

Therefore visual media gives a scenografic solution for the music backround. As a final highlight the concert hall can be open with two big doors and the orchestra can play to the public space in front of the building.

The location for the new building is on the old coalisland next to the already existing building. The Island is surrounded by the canalised river and a renaturalised river. This specific place allows a symbiose between the nature and the urban space. To force this symbiose, the building is designed as a human-made informal structure which creates a magical mood between city and nature. Balkonies around the building allows you a view to the nature, the river and the city. In summer term the balkonies can be used as an extension of the foyer area and the complete building can be opend. To improve the concept for a modern philharmonic orchestra it is important to emphasise the user belongs. The organiser of classical orchestra criticise that young people lose the interest in classical music. Most of the young people prefer to visit the cinema instead of a classical orchestra. But in the backround of the Movies they 7

A special highlight is the public concert: The doors of the concert hall get open. The projection surfaces rotate and the orchestra is playing to the public. Everyone is free to join the concert and to see the spectacel.

During the concert sequenz of movies or movie art can highligth the music of the orchestra. The projection surface are installed on the walls and the celling. If they are not in use it is possible to take them down.

Woodrise Tower Timber-concret-hybrid construction for Highrise Buildings VDI - Competition honorable price I Prof. Moro Institut for Building Design and Construction I Norbert Jundt I Philippe Längst The Woodrise Tower is a prototyp for the development of an innovative building system for tall buildings made out of wood.

Wood as a building material is one of the most energy-efficient materials which are available. As a renewable resource wood saves carbon dioxide and is completly recyclable.

With 100 meter the Tower wood would be Germanys tallest wooden building a representative building for Düsseldorf. The Building is of different use for commercial purpose, offices and residences. Therefore the building consists of a horizontal and a vertical volume.

Because of fire protection and the heavy loads in a highrise building, wood is an unusual material for this building height. Modern industrial wood can support the loads and - with an intelligent fire protection system - it is possible to build a 30 storage high building out of wood. In detail, the Woodrise Tower is created by a modular hybrid system. The columns and the beams are out of wood. Only the core and a small flooring slap is out of concrete. The wood-concret-hybrid structure combines the best properties of both materials.

The main entrance, the foyer and the commercial spaces are located in the horizontal part. The offices and residentials apartments are in the vertical part. The vertical part is shaped by the intersection of rectangles with a centre core. Both rectangles are subdivided in the highed height and create an Skylounge and an observation platform on the top of the building. Also two Skygardens are located in the vertical shape. They are used as public spaces and are important for the ventilation system in the Tower.

To reduce the energie income 50% of the facede facade is opaque. To protect the wood against the weather the elemental facade is made of recycled aluminum panels. The wood structure is manly visible from the inside and in the skygardens.

In order to make a completely sustainable building, it is necessary to overview the complete lifecircle of the Tower. To reduce the energie emission the Tower needs an intelligent building technology as well as a reduction of the building material´s gray energie. 15

ICD ITKE Forschungspavillion 13 I 14 Computational Design Process with the integration of robotical production parameter Bachelorthesis Prof. Menges Institut for computational Design I Prof. Dr. Knippers Institut for Building Structures and Structural Design The global design is generated with a digital algorithm. The algorithm combines the biological principle with all the production constraints.

The ICD ITKE Research pavilion is developed by the cooperation between the students of the University of Stuttgart, the institut for competitional design, the institut for building structures and structural design and the biologist from the University of T端bingen.

The parameter for the optimisation of the global design are: 1. variable component size 2. double layer structure 3. variable component height 4. double bended shape

The main focus of the research pavilion is to explore a biological principle and creating a bottom-up design process to develope a new innovative material system.

The constraints of the production process are: 1. maximal and minimal size of the components 2. maximal and minimal numbers of components 3. maximal and minimal angles of the components

In this case study the biological principle is found in the shells of beetles. The shell of the beetles protect the wings and have to be strong and light. By analysing the shells we found out that they are created by a variable modular system with a double layer structure. Both layers are connected by hyperbolic columns. In nature, all the moduls are made of cetin fibres. For the abstraction of the biological principle we used a composite material out of glass and carbon fibres. To produce all the moduls for the global strcuture we used two industrial robots to wind every individual component.

Sustainable Highrise Sustainable Highrises for the Hafencity in Hamburg Prof. Dr. Sobek Institut for lightweight construction I Prof. Hegger energie effiezient Buildiungs TU Darmstadt Norbert Jundt I Pascal Lurk Between the three Towers there is a Marktplace as a central meeting point oft he area. From this point you can reach all the Towers, the port and the amphietheater.

The new „Elbbrücken“ area accomplished the „Hafencity“ project in Hamburg. The area is located on the east side oft the island and will be used as an importan junction between the Hafencity and the rest of Hamburg city. For visiters and inhabitants the new „Elbbrücken“ area will serve as a represantive entrance portal to the Hafencity.

The dynamic shape of the Towers give an iconografic character to the area. The aerodynamic shape also supports the ventilation system and is a part of the sustainable idea of the Towers. The aerodynamic shape reduces the wind power on the building. The gaps in the shapes catch the wind and reinforce the natural ventilation.

The area will be created by a mixed use out of culture, commercial, workingspaces, residences and hotels. These utilisation are specifically adapted regarding the given circumstances .

The futuristic shapes and the sustainable concept combine the representative demand of a modern urban area.

The prominent Elbpromenade is the perfect place for cultural and commercial space. For this reason, you will find this utilisations in the ground level of the „Public Tower“. An amphitheatre is located next to the tower and is used for public events. On the other side of the district, the main focus is based on the traffic situation. Because of the fantastic light rail traffic it is possible to invent a park and ride system around the „Public Tower“. The Tower is created by a mixture of residences, offices, the commercial sector and a parkinggarage. The „Marina Tower“ is the heart of the new area. With a small port and an underground it is completely integrated in the traffic network of the city. In the Tower you can find residentials, offices, commercial spaces and a hotel. As an extra space, there is an observation area at the top levels of the building. From there you can enjoy a 360 degree view over the HafenCity and the Hamburg city.
