En plein de cœur de Saint-Omer, rue Carnot, se dévoile derrière un imposant portail en fer forgé une somptueuse demeure du 18e siècle. Elle fait partie des plus beaux témoignages de l’architecture civile de cette époque dans la région et abrite depuis 1904 le musée Sandelin. Ce dernier s’apprête à vivre une renaissance…

Vous pourrez toujours observer la très belle façade du musée depuis sa cour d’honneur, mais si vous venez entre le 16 mai et le 16 septembre 2022, vous trouverez malheureusement porte close. Le musée fait sa mue, par une refonte totale des parcours de visite : nouvelles thématiques, espaces rénovés, œuvres inédites, outils de médiation interactifs… L’ambition de ce projet ? Offrir un écrin de délectation et d’émotions autour de l’art, de l’histoire et de la nature ; qui concilie une riche expérience pour les visiteurs d’aujourd’hui et la préservation des œuvres pour les générations futures.

Le musée réoriente son identité autour de ces trois grands axes : art, histoire et nature. Il offrira désormais aux visiteurs une porte d’entrée sur l’histoire de l’Audomarois et un voyage vers l’ailleurs… à travers une offre complète : des parcours de visites principaux, des parcours thématiques, une riche programmation, des expositions temporaires et une invitation à aller plus loin en arpentant certains lieux emblématiques de l’Audomarois. Les parcours de visite principaux seront au nombre de deux. Le premier se vivra comme un plongeon dans l’histoire de l’Audomarois à travers 1200 ans d’histoire et des œuvres remarquables, parfois les ultimes traces de patrimoines et de savoir-faire disparus. Le second, plus immersif, fera voyager vers l’ailleurs, entre art de vivre et collectionnisme, et mettra à l’honneur la somptueuse demeure dans laquelle se situe le musée.

Afi n de poser un nouveau regard sur les œuvres, des parcours thématiques transversaux inviteront à visiter l’intégralité du musée à la découverte des plus beaux chefs-d’œuvre ou de grands collectionneurs. Parmi les expositions temporaires, une sur trois sera consacrée aux collections d’histoire naturelle du musée Henri Dupuis. La riche programmation proposée toute l’année offrira un large choix d’activités donnant une place centrale au bien-être, au ludique et à l’interactivité…

You will still be able to observe the beautiful facade of the museum from its main courtyard, but if you visit between May 16 and September 16, 2022, you will unfortunately find the doors closed. The museum is changing, with a total overhaul of the visit routes: new themes, renovated spaces, new works, interactive mediation tools... The ambition of this project? To offer a delightful and emotional setting around art, history and nature, which reconciles a rich experience for today’s visitors and the preservation of works for future generations.

The museum is redirecting its identity around three main themes: art, history and nature. Henceforth, it provides visitors with a gateway to the history of Audomarois and a journey elsewhere through a complete formula: main visit routes, thematic routes, a rich programme, temporary exhibitions and an invitation to go further by studying certain emblematic places in Audomarois.

There will be two main visit routes. The first will be experienced as a plunge into the history of Audomarois through 1200 years of history and remarkable works, sometimes the last traces of heritage and traditional skills that have since disappeared. The second, more immersive, will allow you to travel elsewhere, between art of living and collecting, and will highlight the sumptuous residence in which the museum is located.

In order to take a new look at the works, cross thematic routes will invite you to visit the entire museum to discover the most beautiful masterpieces or great collectors. Among the temporary exhibitions, one out of three will be devoted to the natural history collections of the Henri Dupuis museum. The rich programme offered throughout the year will provide a wide choice of activities giving a central place to well-being, delight, fun and interactivity...
