WELCOME TO KARASJOK The Sami capital Welcome to the Sami capital, a picturesque village on the border between Norway and Finland. It is easy to find your way around Karasjok, and most of the facilities and shopping centres are within walking distance from your hotel. Ask the reception or tourist information for a map of the town.
CULTURE: Sápmi Park invites visitors to an exotic and vibrant encounter with Sami culture and mythology. At RiddoDuottarMuseat-The Sami Collections you can experience more of the Sami culture and history. The museum offers exhibitions both indoors and outdoors. Experience the open air museum in a magical light! The museum is within walking distance from your hotel. There are guided tours at the Sami parliament building Monday to Friday at 1pm. SHOPPING: Sápmi Park: In the main building you will find a souvenir shop selling souvenirs and Sami handicrafts, Boble Glasshytte, a glass blowing studio with workshop and sales exhibition, and a silversmiths producing and selling traditional Sami jewellery. The shops have Tax-Free sales and Tax-Refund in the souvenir shop. In downtown Karasjok you will find grocery stores and a shopping centre with pharmacy, sports shop, clothes shop, book shop and café. RESTAURANTS: Bivdu, Biepmu Café and Grill, Kjell’s Café, Rica Hotel Karasjok, Storgammen. CLIMATE: Karasjok has an inland climate with stable weather and, based on statistics, if you spend three days in Karasjok you are bound to see the Northern Lights. TRANSPORT: www.boreal.no EASTER FESTIVAL, 02.-09.04.13: The Easter Festival is one of the major events in Sápmi. Experience this wonderful festival in Karasjok and join in all the wonderful activities including concerts, exhibitions, snowmobile racing, reindeer racing, icefishing competitions, the Jergul games (outdoors sports), sled dog racing and a lot of fun. www.karasjokfestivaler.no

Drive your “own” dog sled with top trained dogs or enjoy the trip as a passenger on cosy reindeer skins. Set out on a clear evening to enjoy the Northern Lights. In order for your stay in Northern Norway to be as comfortable as possible, it is important to have the right clothes. Bring warm and comfortable clothes and shoes.
