“It really is paradise. And Ithink stopping, pausing, breathing and soaking up the beauty of the now is askill to being happier and not alot of people can do it so if you can learn it, it’ll help.”
She also recommended learning wellness techniquessuch as diaphragmatic breathing “which can calm your nervous system in just amatter of afew short breaths”.
“Maybe it’s signing up for aretreatso you can really learn this big skillset of wellness de-stress techniques thatyou can utilise for the rest of your life.”

ILOVE AGOODMYSTERY, whichiswhy Ilookforwardtothestartofevery month,whenourCollectionsRegistrar triestostumpuswithanobjectshe findsinthecollectionhere.
Eachitemisexhibitedin adisplaycase inthemuseumatKiwiNorthforthemonth withabsolutelynoinformationaboutit.It isalsopostedonInstagramandFacebook withzerohintsastoitsuseandorigin.
Someitemshavebeenrelativelyeasy toguess,butothershaveleftme —and manyothers —mystified.
Thelongbambooobjectwasoriginally displayedclosed,whichmadeit alittle trickiertoidentify.Someoftheguesses frompeopleincluded atenderisingtooland akitchenutensil.However,itis abamboo containerforblowdarts.Originallyfrom SarawakinBorneo,itwasdonatedtothe Whanga¯reiMuseumbyMrsE.FRadfordin 1966.
Thetoolkitwasinterestingandeasily determinedassuchby alotofpeople,but itsusewasmoreelusive.Measuringjust 185mmby73mm,theentirekitis alot smallerthanitappearsinthepicture.Itis aminiaturerailwayenginetoolkit.
ThetoolsandboxwereallmadebyP. S.Bevanin1932,anditwasdonatedtothe museumbyKeithSharpin1985.
Oneofmyfavourites was thewooden objectwiththeholesinit,becausesome
oftheguessesonlineweresogreat.
Thoseguessesincluded ahomemade raygun,somethingforgrowingcarrot sproutsand,hilariously,someonesaid: “Lookslikesomeonehastriedtomakea woodenreplicaof aMarsAttacksalienlaser gun,butthen ahungrycaterpillarhasput someholesinit.”
Itisinfactanocarina,a windinstrument, atypeofflute.Therehavebeen alotof variationsmade,buttheyareanenclosed instrumentwithbetweenfourandtwelve fingerholesand amouthpiece.
Theyaretypicallymadefromceramic orclay,butcanalsobemadefromplastic, glass,metal,boneorwood,asthisoneis.
Themostpopulargameof‘Guessthe MysteryObject’onFacebooklastyearwas themetalitemwith acircularbase.Inan extremelyrareturnofevents,nobody
guessedwhatitwasorwhatitwasused for.
Someofthesuggestions,however,were brilliant. Sockstretcher,potato masher,hat stand,waxstamp,cookiepress,shoestand, bathplug,jewellerychange —therewas noshortageofcreativeconjectures.
Whatitactuallyis,though,is aletter holder.Youwouldpositionyourlettersin themiddlethentwistthemetalbarstohold theminplace.Thiswasreceivedasa donationfromT.Rapleyin2003.
