She has created a YouTube channel to connect and speak about her journey further and has co-founded an upcoming global eating disorder app resource, Love your Kite. My Journey Starts Here is a guided journal filled with the tools Voices of Hope co-founders and mental illness survivors Jazz and Gen used in their recovery. It is filled with activities that aim to improve your mental well-being and this physical resource can be used by different people in all walks of life facing a variety of challenges. Just remember it’s okay to ask for help, it’s okay to start again, it’s okay to say no, it’s okay to rest, it’s okay to let go and it’s okay to not be okay.

s exciting as this is, we also open ourselves up to bugs, viruses, and illnesses that our
immune systems haven’t dealt with during the COVID-19 pandemic. One simple thing we can all do is update our vaccinations and ensure we are all protected as much as possible. The MMR vaccination is an essential vaccination that many 15 to 30-yearolds may not be fully up to date with. The MMR vaccination protects you against three viral infections - measles, mumps and rubella. Unfortunately, there are no single vaccines available for these infections. “I decided to do the painting course because my two brothers are on the same course. They recommended it to me, and I came here and started. The reason I stayed on for the following year is because I found I really like painting. So I have a great passion for painting now” “I love it because I also learned a lot that I didn’t know before. Like with houses, I thought that the paint was just for decoration and then I found out that it actually can prevent fungus and other things on houses. And with a bathroom you need a high gloss paint.” “One of the main challenges is that I’m home schooled. So, I’ve been doing my schoolwork around this course. It can be a little stressful having to go to course and then go back home to do schoolwork after. But it’s been easy to work around.” “The course has really helped me a lot because I get to talk to a multitude of people. I was very shy at the start but its helped me build my confidence and I wouldn’t say that I’m shy any more.” Kezia Alofa Bell

WELCOME TO TE PŪKENGA NAU MAI, HAERE MAI KI TE PŪKENGA
From 1 January 2023 all NorthTec learners will be enrolled at Te Pūkenga. When you enrol with us, you’ll become part of our Te Pūkenga network supporting ākonga (learners like you), right across Aotearoa. Te Pūkenga is bringing together Aotearoa’s Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics and transitional Industry Training Organisations into one unified vocational education network. Vocational education is designed to support you, combining learning with on-the-job experience – whether that’s previous experience or part of your journey with us. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU •
Our ākonga are at the centre of everything we do. You’ll still be able to study and train across multiple courses and qualifications, and you’ll have more choices in what, how and where you can learn.
•
You’ll see vocational education that is culturally responsive, honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi, is consistent across the country, and will let you learn at your own pace, in your own place.
•
Te Pūkenga is here to help you fit learning around your life. Bringing together on-the-job, online and on campus vocational education and training that works with you, for you.
