big city, small-town feel
It’s no surprise that many of our students say our location played a role in their decision to come to NKU. Do you want a university that has a small community feel with easy access to a major city? Want open spaces to play Frisbee in the grass or the opportunity to catch a show at the campus theatre? You can experience all of this right here on our campus. Located in Highland Heights, Kentucky, you get the best of both worlds—a comprehensive education in a safe, suburban setting—and only eight minutes from a thriving city. 4

CHANTELLE, a social work student, went to a small, local high school. She quickly realized NKU offered more than what she expected. “NKU is a place that offers wonderful experiences. There are more than 200 organizations to join as well as various club sports and recreational activities. With so much to offer, you can definitely find your home here. Through campus involvement and taking advantage of various opportunities on campus, I have grown tremendously as a person. Here, you can be whoever you want to be.

EMMANUEL, an electrical & electronic engineering technology student, grew up more than 5,800 miles away in Lagos, Nigeria— a city surrounded by water and year-round summer weather. Attending NKU was his first time in Kentucky, but he adjusted well. “NKU is the place to be. Not only are you getting a quality and sound education, but you also get a great college experience to last a lifetime. My experience at NKU has been a fun and great learning process that has helped me to build good relationships.

ROBERTO, a political science and international studies student, grew up in northern Kentucky. He came to NKU because of the small class sizes, but he quickly got involved in student organizations— Student Government Association (SGA), the Norse Leadership Society (NLS) and the Latino Mentor Program (LAMP)—and hasn’t looked back since. “What really kept me here was the education, the organizations and the people. It’s unreal how many organizations I’m in, but it wouldn’t be the same if NKU wasn’t so inclusive and caring about its students. I got to meet so many great, young leaders just like me. I not only made career connections but long-lasting friendships as well.”
