Instead, they use an app, or log onto our website to download, or stream, books, movies, magazines, movies, music, and audiobooks. And many of our patrons want to take advantage of these e-resources, but aren’t sure how to do it. There’s help. On our website are detailed instructions on how to use your particular device, and your library card, to access our e-resources. And the instructions for those products are further broken down into instructions for your specific device, such as “Freegal for PC and Mac”, “Overdrive Audiobooks for Android”, or “Overdrive Kindle books for Kindle Fire”. Each set of instructions (there are 24 of them) includes step-by-step directions with screen shots so that you won’t go astray as you go through the steps. For your convenience, we also provide print copies of the instructions in the Computer Center. If you still need help, humans are still available. Services & Resources
For more information about the services and resources offered by Northland Public Library, visit our website at: www.northlandlibrary.org
Volunteer Focus Name: Aaryan Jain (AJ)
Volunteer’s Assignment and Schedule: AJ participated in a number of programs including this year’s Summer Reading Club (SRC). His help with Hot Dog Day, Science Spot, Engineering Spiderman and Engineering Super Heroes contributed to the success of these activities. Additionally, AJ volunteered during different shifts at the SRC aide desk. He also participates in the Adopt-A-Row (AAR) program in the Adult Services Department and assisted in many ways at the 2015 Spring Book Sale. In a few words, why does AJ volunteer at Northland Library?
Quite often, AJ had gone to the library to read books and do school work. During these times, he saw people volunteering for various programs and services which made him want to do something similar. So to begin with, he signed up as a volunteer for the Spring Book Sale and because he very much liked doing this, he then became involved in the summer program. The annual Summer Reading Club and book sales are two of Northland’s very well-liked and well-attended events. Although each attracts their own audience, the success and popularity of each of these events is positively impacted by the energy, commitment, flexibility and generosity of great volunteers. The book sale volunteers aggressively support staff in setting up, sorting, offering customer service or putting to rest the remnants of the current book sale. In many ways, Northland volunteers are the lifeline of the community events and activities that benefit a multitude of local residents.
